Migration from GitHub to gitlab
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to push and pull code. Can create group and assign role to members. Easy to raise pull request and merge request.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes face issue in granting owner privileges to users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gitlab solves cloud storage for storing codes. And security for private repositories. Also we can easily work with git in order to version control repository.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I found out that gitlab is better than GitHub. Everything is transperant in gitlab and can quickly learn and start working on.

What do you like best about the product?
Version control concept, which helps us to resolve multiple issues, Review control without review not will merge in the main branch. Better than SVN where we don't have this option
What do you dislike about the product?
resolving Conflict using UI/UX is not correct. yes i faced multiple challenges while resolving conflicts from UI. Resolve the bug. In conflict resolving option from UI
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Earlier we were using SVN for Development and we faced multiple challenges while deployment. Git lab resolves that issues and we're able to deploy our changes within 2 hrs on productions.

If you're facing challenges with Version control, Must try GitLab.
Code Repository with great pipeline capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
Besides the common functionality of managing code in a repository, the pipeline capabilities are outstanding. They offer an integrated experience of building the applications directly within the tool. The definition is based on docker images which give you great flexibility in what you can do. Besides storing the definition as a file in the code,it is event possible to share pipeline-steps between projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The planning capabilities of having tasks and epics are not sufficient for larger teams or project setups, where you have several small and independent repositories. Also, it was not really intuitive for us to map the scrum process to the provided issue planning components.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitLab helps to provide a common (and also onPrem) git-based code repository with a lot of additional features. Especially the functionality of MergerRequests with dedicated code reviews and approvals helps to increase the code quality. Providing pipeline capabilities along with all kinds of registries for storing artefacts provides a complete solution for managing, deploying and delivering code. The flexibility in pipelines made it easy to integrate with other tools, e.g. with Mend.

What do you like best about the product?
We can create seperate branche for our individual task. Merging in other branch. Tagging is also good . I used source tree, in-built plugin of git in eclipse or intlije IDE

Some time conflict resolving get difficult.

Version control of source code. We can create multiple branch for different purposes. It's being us more productive
An awsome tool for product management
What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab is the most convenient tool to manage source code and version control. The most helpful feature is Traceability which allows us to keep track of all developers, their commits, pull requests, and different branches. Gitlab made it easy to assign Jira tickets/issues to any team and keep records and progress timelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
Limit of private repositories and Gitlab can provide a trial version to students so they can perform the hands-on practice and It will beneficial for their future endeavors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows synchronization for developers and analysts where they can work together without being dependent. The auto-tagging feature for JIRA issues with code commits in PR saves tracking time.

What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab is the tool we use in our team for continuous delivery. The gitlab also helps us to conduct code reviews for merge request and issues. It is also easy to track down the issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
In gitlab the CI/CD pipelines can be improved for better comparison. Integration with other tools is a bit complex process. The documentation can be improved. The document repository would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gitlab has very good security. Couple of groups can work collectively and construct study software. The code development by our team member can be pulled in our system in a few seconds.

What do you like best about the product?
I am using Gitlab and the feature that I liked the most is that we can review the code of our peers and we can also trace the bug within a particular merge request and we can also assign a person to review the merge request
What do you dislike about the product?
While using the Gitlab, I found that it shows us if there are any merge conflicts but it does not provide us any solution to resolve merge conflicts through Gitlab

With the help of Gitlab, we can easily trace the bugs in our software and manage the flow of our application.

What do you like best about the product?
Recently our project got migrated to GitLab due to its open source availability and new enhanced features that developers to easily maintain and review the code PR and MR.
What do you dislike about the product?
This needs unnecessary special access token which doesn't seem to be user friendly sometimes. Also requires personal token that unnecessarily causes developers extra task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use gitlab for maintaining our code repository and for tracking pull request and merge requests.

Good to be considered for version control system.
