Powerful VCS and Easy to adopt
What do you like best about the product?
The contribution graph, CI/CP pipeline, Analytics of code review, issue occurance is what benefitted me to show my contribution in the development.
What do you dislike about the product?
The code comparison is a little challenging to read in the changes section of the merge request.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use GitLab for web projects in PHP. Gitlab benefitted us in effortlessly adopting the git-flow.
Better but not as popular as github
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using source control tools for a while now and have used almost all tools, including Bitbucket, GitHub, and gitlab. I like that GitLab provides you a package to self-manage the GitLab locally in your organization. It is one of the best things and can be used where the security of the code is very crucial.
What do you dislike about the product?
I still think their community and support are not as good as Github. In other aspects, it completely matches the best in the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a local GitLab setup in our previous organizations. It reduced our cost, and the security was not hampered at all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They can chain up the game and maybe upgrade their support system.

UI and versioning features
What do you like best about the product?
Clean UI and CI-CD tools are easy to use
What do you dislike about the product?
poor branch visualization of version tree
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Role management is not easy
Great application to store and review code
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy using GitLab mostly for RPA code packages. The code review features for reviewing version is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue I have had is when committing from a cloned repository. There is usually some kind of access error but it probably my configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for code storage and a good idea to always have a backup.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't loose your code.
A good VCS tool
What do you like best about the product?
We can have free private repositories, but it has limited features. But we can get used to it before purchasing the product. Also, I like the web IDE in GitLab, which is far better than the text editor in other VCS. Also, we can check the GitLab ci config file before pushing it and testing it in the pipeline. We can validate the yml script on the GitLab site itself.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some limitations in Gitlab. For example, we can not re-request for review from the co-workers. Also, I am not a fan of GitLab UI. Mainly the notification side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can use it as a remote git repository to collaborate with co-workers on a project. We can make several branches based on what functionality is being developed. And we can create merge requests and then merge all the work in the main branch. Co-working on software project is very easy with GitLab.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good tool to use for version management and collaboration on a project. You should consider this software especially when you want a test pipeline with gitlab-ci.
IT management is easier
What do you like best about the product?
It has increased our productivity and enabled us to create a software supply chain with built-in package management. It always takes in account all the security steps to keep our data safe. For security measures it provide us ‘secret variables’ , so that only authorized person can have access to the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes this software runs slowly due to which we have to spend time in its plug in and also much of the time gets wasted in opening cards. Also it is not so user friendly and it theme is not appealing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped me in developing the codes and provides us scalable, single source for collaborating on projects and codes help us to be more productive, I do not face any issue while working. It has helped me to work on remote basis and its easy configuration supports various applications. In all ways it is great platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is strongly recommended to other organizations. However, its integrated CD solution will help you in shipping the code with zero-touch and it automatically monitor metrics, thus informs you about any change in coding which could affect our productivity. Hence, it deals with threat detection and this is something I like about it.
Experience of using Gitlab after using Bitbucket
What do you like best about the product?
1. Pricing: For start-ups and small businesses Gitlab's free cloud-hosting plan is just awesome and boon for them.
2. Control: It's self-hosting version is perfect for teams which are capable to have resources to have their codebase in their infrastructure and it is also open-source.
3. Open-source: Bitbucket's Community Edition is Open-Source and great for modification as per your choice. User can think out of box and can include a feature which is not even thought of by Gitlab team.

What do you dislike about the product?
1. Integration with Jira: In my previous company and the current one, Jira is used as an agile tool. So being an Atlassian software it is more compatible with Bitbucket then with Gitlab.
2. Pull Request vs Merge Request: If my source branch is rebased with the target branch then on approving Pull Request the tree structure in Bitbucket doesn't create an extra node for Merge, whereas in case of merge request in Bitbucket every time it is approved an extra node for Merge is created. This is really frustrating when you're going through history of a file in an IDE as sometime there might be more than 3 windows of code because of this merge node. A clean master branch is always preferable which just seems impossible with Gitlab.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using it as a version control tool for maintaining codebase. It is simple and easy to use and great in integrating our project with CI/CD.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its great for business just starting-up and also for established ones. There is huge scope for customisability in Gitlab.
Gitlab review
What do you like best about the product?
It allows all departments to report and track the status of technical issues
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not user friendly or easy to navigate. We have several projects created and I have found it difficult to navigate between the projects to view details
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reporting technical related issues and requesting tech related feature enhancements to our product
Great for some uses, mediocre for others
What do you like best about the product?
The pipelines visualizations are amazing, and really help to enable a consistent CI/CD model. I like the way that it's very easy to set "dedicated approvers" for certain projects, to prevent other teams from breaking services they are less familiar with.
What do you dislike about the product?
The issues/wiki systems are garbage, and should be replaced by Atlassian products for any company that is serious about being a tech player.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having our deploys/repos/cicd processes synced in one place is very nice. On merge requests, being able to see that a service deployed successfully before approving is a huge benefit that we didn't have before.
