Gitlab is a must have for a software developer
What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab auto-saves everything automatically
What do you dislike about the product?
Gitlab is becoming very expensive, especially for small teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Gitlab to host our code base and to review our merge requests.
Easy to use in-house Git SCM
What do you like best about the product?
If you want to get a Git server up and running internally, Gitlab is wonderful. It is straightforward to install, mainly if a Linux (preferably Ubuntu) server is available. Updating is also easy (e.g., "apt-get update gitlab".)
What do you dislike about the product?
It would help if you kept Gitlab up to date (that is via "apt-get update"). If you try to update an outdated version of Gitlab, it will require CLI knowledge of Linux. For instance, if you try updating from an older "major version" to a newer major version, Gitlab will automatically update multiple versions manually. This process can be tricky.
Gitlab cannot be installed on a Windows host, only Linux. I haven't tried deploying it as a container, however it looks like that's a very straightforward process.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gitlab allows me to keep code I write for internal projects inside my network. It's great if you don't want to host your code on another provider's platform (e.g. Microsoft with Github or Atlassian with Bitbucket.)

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gitlab is a complex solution with lots of features and may be challenging to master for regular users, however, it enhances the productivity and efficiency of people working in a team extensively.
Great collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
Managing gitlab is very simple and easy. Very minimum learning curve.
What do you dislike about the product?
Search capabilites need to be improved. Bitbucket is much better in searching.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have all our repositories in git and we use it for review, CICD as well.
It is a very good software for Git repositories
What do you like best about the product?
I like the pipelines that you can configure to block or allow Merge Requests. It also has a feature to block the button "Merge" in a Merge Request when you add a dependent Merge Request.
What do you dislike about the product?
I generally like it, but I personally prefer GitHub. I use GitLab because I have to do it in my work. Apart from it, GitLab fails from time to time, so the pipelines don't run or I cannot merge my work for some minutes or hours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The company can store the repositories and allow the developers to clone them and create merge requests into important branches. We can enable code owners so some developers will have to approve some specific merge requests that involve their code.
