    Computer Software

Best Source Control App

  • April 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is DevOps software that provides the ability to develop and operate software in an application.
I found GitLab to be the best tool for source code, as it serves my purpose on many occasions.
Some more features I found include wikis and bug tracking.
Also, GitLab provides detailed information on how to move the projects across platforms.
The last best thing to love about GitLab is they have unlimited public and private repositories whereas their counterparts offer only public repositories.
What do you dislike about the product?
A few times the build fails after a few delays. The error message is displayed very late and not initially.
Navigating is somewhat difficult because the menus in GitLab are confusing.
In case there is some issue with GitLab we have to restart the server again or else the issue remains the same.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've exported projects from GitLab to other platforms and it's a cool feature.
The reporting function is very helpful and gives a better understanding of the function.
Can easily integrate it with a third-party app like Slack which is indeed an effective feature.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When it comes to Projects they have less compared to Counterparts.
But it has many features and has been good DevOps software and source control application I've used.
I suggest the devs go into GitLab as it's the best tool available out there.

What do you like best about the product?
GitLab is a complete suite that allows you to manage, administer, create and connect repositories with different applications and do all kinds of integrations with them, offering an environment and a platform in which you can carry out the various stages of your SDLC/ADLC and DevOps.
Private repositories are allowed in the free version.
What do you dislike about the product?
Items cannot be crawled across multiple repositories
No comment tracking
Its interface may be somewhat slower than the competition.
There are some common problems with repositories.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I usually use GitLab as my Application Repository with ServiceNow platform. Especially if you are starting on Servicenow application development, GitLab provides an easier way to integrate than Github

Gitlab: Do more with your repository management tool.

  • April 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab offers so many features apart from basic repository management. e.g., Boards - Manage and organize features or issues or milestones. Ability to manage containers/dockers. CI/CD features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I did not encounter any issues while using Gitlab and there isn't much that I dislike. However, since we use Visual Studio as the IDE, Gitlab is not easy to integrate with VS as TFS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is not just a traditional repo management tool, but it also offers so many other features. We used Gitlab as our version control system and we also used its CI/CD/CR features.

What do you like best about the product?
Its ease of use and the inbuilt facilities for code issue management also the gitlab pipeline minutes we get for free every month are really great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing that I can think of, Its been of really great help when compared to pricey products like bitbucket.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We keep all of our projects on gitlab and run pipelines over there. Initially we get 500 minutes and buying additional minutes is really cheap there.

One of the best tool

  • April 21, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very user friendly, even a beginner can understand and work on gitlab so easily
What do you dislike about the product?
While using it, I have faced a frequent problem where I have to delete my public key for its setting and then need to add same key again to make it work. This I have to do on weekly basis which I think is not user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has a big benifit of version control, and branching/cherry picking is so easy as compared to other version controlling tool. I have used svn as well, but it was not up to the mark
