I use Sophos XG as a channel partner, providing it to our customers for next-generation firewall solutions, Wi-Fi access points, and other security features. My customers include industries such as banking, manufacturing, IT, hospitals, and healthcare.
What is most valuable?
I regard Sophos XG as a superior choice among firewalls due to its advanced security, user manual, and control panel features, among others. The firewall offers effective policy management, bandwidth management, and group policy features from a sales perspective.
Additionally, customer support is highly regarded, with a technical representative swiftly addressing customer queries through the Sophos partner portal.
What needs improvement?
Sophos XG is reaching its end-of-life and end-of-support; therefore, the user count limitation of particular models should be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Sophos XG for around five to six years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability of Sophos XG as ten out of ten.

I rate scalability as ten out of ten, indicating that it is easy to scale up for a larger number of users.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support from Sophos XG is excellent. When my customers raise a ticket, a customer representative calls them immediately to address their queries. I rate customer service nine out of ten.

What is our primary use case?
I sell Sophos XGS and SonicWall products, recommending them for both small and large companies. I handle selling around 100 to 200 units each month. My firm works with Sophos for enhancing network security, reporting on user base vulnerabilities, and managed protection.
What is most valuable?
The most effective features of Sophos XGS in enhancing my network security have been its ability to report on larger user bases and identify vulnerable users. It provides good protection services. The AI and ML capabilities are beneficial, and it offers a wide range of connectors with competitive brands.
What needs improvement?
Sophos should work on its marketing strategy as it seems to lag behind Fortinet. Their pricing strategy creates difficulty due to high availability, causing price undercutting without maintaining regular margins.

Their support is excellent. Any issues are quickly addressed by their support team, which is not common among all OEM manufacturers.

The pricing of Sophos XGS is not very high or very low; it's medium.

What is our primary use case?
The prominent use cases for Sophos XGS depend on the type of customer. Local governments, schools, production companies, sales companies, and the finance sector use it.
What is most valuable?
It’s popular because it’s easy to manage, the cloud console is excellent, and it supports VPNs. It can also integrate with endpoints, though this is optional. Regarding threat intelligence, customers in Central Europe often prefer managing their threat hunting rather than using the more expensive service from Sophos. This feature is handy for large international companies with many employees. Threat intelligence requires separate licensing and is optional. Customers can either manage it themselves or purchase the additional service from Sophos, which includes further actions and is more expensive. Smaller companies often don’t have the budget for this.
What needs improvement?
One area for improvement would be including automatically generated certificates for HTTPS, which was available in earlier versions but might not be in the latest.
For how long have I used the solution?
I’ve worked with Sophos XGS for over ten years, starting with Astaro and then Sophos.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Sophos XGS is not expensive and is scalable. It can fit small schools and companies with just ten employees, showing its flexibility for different sizes.
How are customer service and support?
Sophos has two levels of support. The first level is qualified but may not handle complex issues well. I usually skip it and go straight to the second level for better results.

How was the initial setup?
Deployment is quick and easy. Small installations take about three hours, and even remotely if necessary. It might take up to two days for more extensive infrastructures, including initial setup and follow-up checks.
What other advice do I have?
Sophos XGS does use AI, particularly for sandboxing and analyzing suspicious documents in the cloud. It’s practical, as I haven’t had any major security breaches in the past five years.Overall, I’d rate Sophos XGS as nine out of ten. It has improved significantly over the years.
