What do you like best?
Sometime services like google maps are not enough when you need to work with geospatial data and display information in avery custom way. Connecting to different databases to retrieve information that can be displayed in a more friendly way inside a map was never easy. But Geoserver changed this allowing interaction beetwen maps and databases just by settings and also allowing embed and consume those maps from any kind of application using SDK's as OpenLayer for web applications. I loved the rich documentation and the way geoserver works with different databases.
What do you dislike?
As a software developers is a little bit hard setup the sever since you should know something about apache tomcat. I have heard there is a cloud based version of Geoserver but you have to pay. I thing it could be a good option open a free tier where you could test and create proof of concepts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed to share information to differet people about different investments around the country. That information was displayed by regions with different criterias. This allowed leaders to make data driven decisions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think a good suggestion would be focus your product as a cloud based strategy. And sell the service instead of the product. Having different tiers including free tier to allow people to test the service.
