CrateDB offers an excellent balance between SQL simplicity and the power of NoSQL scalability
What do you like best about the product?
What I find most valuable about CrateDB is its ability to handle massive datasets with impressive speed and efficiency. It seamlessly combines the ease of SQL with the scalability of NoSQL, making it perfect for real-time data analysis in scenarios like IoT or machine data projects. CrateDB’s flexibility to store and query structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, along with its high scalability and real-time processing capabilities, make it an excellent choice for applications needing fast, reliable, and scalable database solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The project is still so young that still no real world stress test have been conducted on it. It takes some time for companies to migrate from their comfort zone on their heart of the system, database, to a new system. As a result, we still have to wait and see what happens. Also, some featuers such as a good extension system and implementation of basic algorithms like Approximate Nearest Neighbors are missing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
On the business side, due to similarity of cratedb syntax to postgresql, there is no need to hire a mongoDB expert to work on noSQL databases. Every database engineer with a basic knowledge of SQL can start to learn about cratedb and have the best of both worlds.
CrateDB, a name that we will hear more in the future
What do you like best about the product?
For me, the fact that with CrateDB, we can use SQL while having the benefits of NoSQL and VectorDBs is the best. It is so easy to use, and with their built-in functions such as 'distance' or 'knn-match,' you can enjoy the process of data analysis. Considering that you can easily integrate different types of databases and data models is something that I have never seen before. To put it in a nutshell, RESPECT!
What do you dislike about the product?
We should be aware of how challenging the world of databases is, and I believe that CrateDB is just at the beginning of its journey. For me, one thing I didn't like was that it did not support using ORMs, and we had to write the queries completely as strings. So, I think if this feature, along with other features such as allowing developers to add their own add-ons and extensions, is added, CrateDB could become even better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, the problem that CrateDB will solve is that I can combine different types of data and have them all together in one database. So, I don't have to use multiple databases, and I can easily manage my data, analyze it, and use it for further steps such as Deep Learning and Machine Learning.
Another issue that CrateDB can resolve for me is its compatibility with Python, the language of AI, making it much easier to use. You don't have to switch between different languages and databases.

Great demo!
What do you like best about the product?
CrateDB showcased their product in different usecases, their SQL queries are very advanced and can solve many problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides of using CrateDB is the same downside as another other piece of software, they have unique functionality that can't be changed fast if needed.

CrateDB is a potential db for a RAG system in production.
A capable solution to consolidate your diverse data sources and fulfill analytics needs
What do you like best about the product?
It is scalable, flexible and fast. Its many capabilites makes it able to adapt to different company needs. There are options for different deployment setups (on premise, cloud, and in between)
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any tool, there are some aspects that only reveal themselves once you deep dive into the product. (But the company has e-learning options and qualified expert so I would not worry too much.)
I only had the opportunity to try CrateDB with a limited scope of time series data and text analysis using large language models. It would be exciting to see how it handles "live" deployment in a complex architecture and diverse business need.

Timeseries Data, Multi Model Support.
Positive Demo Experience
What do you like best about the product?
I recently explored CrateDB in a demo project, and I must say, my experience was positive. Despite the limited scope of my usage, CrateDB performed well across various scenarios.
CrateDB's variety of supporting use cases stands out. One can use SQL to handle all of them. In our project, we tested it with relational data, timeseries data and geospatial data. We also tested the search capabilities. In each scenario, CrateDB performed well. During our primitive load testing, it efficiently managed substantial loads without any significant issues, displaying its robust architecture and scalability.

What do you dislike about the product?
As of now, I don't have any dislikes regarding CrateDB. However, it is important to mention that my experience was limited to a demo project, and I haven't tested it in a production environment. Further usage and testing would be necessary to draw conclusions about its capabilities over time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
