Data Analytics for the Masses
What do you like best about the product?
The QIX engine, the associative model and the ease of use and small learning curve even for advanced or very advanced topics. Getting started with Qlik Sense is very easy, use Desktop or experience the Qlik Cloud, drop your files or create your connections and you are done! Dashboarding? Covered, high quality PDF reports? Got them. Scalable, robust solution to handle complex formulas and millions of rows? Granted!
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of Governance. Security rules wizard, the freedom provided to developers via APIs, to be provided to system administrators and platform admins. Bring back the Qlik Deployment Console! It looks like Qlik Sense is on,y focused on developers. Developers don’t always know which data is meaningful or even how to showcase the date to allow business analysts to get the most out of it. Platform administrators are still heavily required for on premise deployments (and hybrid solutions).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Any problem that requires a decision. Making decisions based on data and not by chance or feelings, or using that data to back up your own knowledge is always proven to work. It does not have to be a massive project, it can be a laser focused application for a very specific, actual need, such is the flexibility of Qlik.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Qlik Sense it not QlikView. Even your most experienced QlikView developers can struggle getting accustomed to both or transitioning if that’s the decision. Web developers can do well if they are properly and closely guided by data architects as they can build awesome standalone solutions or fully integrated in whatever web portal you are already using to communicate or share your data and insights.
Script and expressions syntax, variables and even some charts can be reused but be ready to shift to a web developer mindset to fully unleash the potential of Qlik Sense.
The administration is more complex, yet more complete. It allows plenty of integrations with web based and well known security mechanisms such SAML, Okta, cookies or headers. The security roles are extremely granular, but you need to learn how to use them. You need some knowledge on proxies and multi layered deployments which where nit oossible in Qlik.
Make sure Qlik Sense fit your needs. Ask Qlik to engage and do something with your own data, and show how it is done. Engage with their experts to explore the most convenient and performant deployment.

A lot of promise, falls short in many areas
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of navigation, responsive UI. USING Qlik is a very pleasant experience as long as you don't try to cram too much into each analytic sheet. It's intentionally designed to look a bit spartan and the colors are muted. This may be a plus or negative depending on your point of view.
What do you dislike about the product?
Qlik tried too hard to be cool. Having a quasi browser-based experience, responsive UI is all wonderful, but the experience is really restrictive as you can't vary the information density of each sheet much, or customize the look and feel. Also, once you get quite a few sheets, the associative experience actually gets annoying as I'm constantly having to select and deselect items as I move from sheet to sheet. Would like to have more control over what selections are carried across sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provide a way to analyze our CRM data that is silky smooth and intuitive for front line managers. We have not succeeded well here because getting people to wrap their minds around the associative nature of Qlik is difficult, and also makes it difficult to say, compare region A with region B on the same sheet without a lot of backend work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Power BI is advancing by leaps and bounds every month. The list of improvements is impressive. Qlik updates at a much slower pace and doesn't always reflect what's important to the customer.
Versatile data exploration tool
What do you like best about the product?
Qlik Sense allows you to integrate multiple data sets and create interactive dashboards that help users get a lot out of the data in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a bit of a learning curve. Creating a model and chart expressions that are flexible and at the same time ensure data integrity regardless of where users click can take a bit of work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to quickly slice data in multiple ways, which allows users to ask questions and get answers on the spot. Combining multiple data points helps us get a more complete picture of how are students are doing.
Good dashboard software
What do you like best about the product?
I like the export to excel feature that allows for customization
What do you dislike about the product?
Filter driven menus are awkward and on slow servers can drive you crazy as you wait for the refresh of a screen
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability view our KPIs
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate on servers and determine if it sucks up too much overhead
Great Data Viz Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Qliksense makes it very easy to create functional and informative dashboards. One doesn't need to be extremely tech-savvy to use the tool and get benefits from it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product is not quite as flexible as Qlikview but IMO the pros outweigh the cons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows for quick building of dashboards, using what is now standard for dashboards.
QlikView Review
What do you like best about the product?
QlikView is an incredibly intuitive program to use. The dashboards that can compiled from any data input are easy to format and update.
What do you dislike about the product?
I felt that some of the dashboard functionality is limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in healthcare. We're figuring out how to use data. We have a lot of it, but don't really know how to use it. This really helped with starting to manipulate and use our data.
Qlik Review
What do you like best about the product?
I like the potential that it could bring to my business. I think that maybe if we had more training and tools on how to utilize this for our territories it could really be a great return on my company's investment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of real time updates. Takes a long time to load.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pipeline management, finding AUR, seeing which accounts are the profit drivers.
Quality Dashboards and Charts
What do you like best about the product?
I like that QlikView can be customized by programmers to provide existing and new reports and analytics to minimize now non-value-added data downloading and formatting for regular reporting.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the QlikView self service dashboard user interface as it is very crowded with variables and charts, and if simplified and had automated guidance to users, it would be more utilized.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the issues of data analytics and self service dashboards and reports for leaders across our global organization, losing less time on data inquiries and thus spending more time on projects and actions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The simpler and more guided you can make self service reporting and dashboards on the platform, the more likely all users will spend quality time analyzing and understanding their job activities.
Qlik is streaming lining our metrics and data across departments
What do you like best about the product?
I like that all our metrics and data can now be found in one place. Qlik does a great job of pulling in reports from other software and displaying it in an easy to use and view format. I also like how secure it is. We deal with secure info and knowing Qlik has a dbl step security measure for us gives me peace of mind.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes loading can take awhile. And if I pull up a report and it's inaccurate I don't have anyway of knowing unless I check the original report. This seldom happens though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since our company experienced a 66% growth in one year we needed a one stop shop for the many reports and metrics we have. Without losing data and little effort we were able to convert to this platform. I'm still learning all of the difference features it has like exporting and importing and report guidelines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great resource for a growing company. It does take some fine tuning and if you're prepared for that and put in the work you'll love it! It's a great software to really make your own.
Qlik Sense provides excellent self-service analytic capabilities
What do you like best about the product?
User customization based on a managed data set
What do you dislike about the product?
Technical expertise required for implementation
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Presenting high-level KPIs to executive staff. We provide a catalog of options, and users can choose specific items and arrange accordingly
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be aware of your end-user requirements and expertise. If you want a tightly controlled, centralized BI environment, then QlikView is still a better option. Some organizations like ours have found that a hybrid model works best.
