What do you like best about the product?
- being able to allocated multiple jobs to one team member
- colour coding and access to different
- the new feature for dragging jobs down or up for more or less time
- reports on individual and team times and capacity
- The "Time Off" button
- new feature to continuously scroll forward or backwards
- The organisation of clients and jobs
What do you dislike about the product?
- It would be great if we could automatically add our public holidays into float
- I don't like that every time I press enter after filling out a field that it adds the job directly onto the calendar
- It would be great to be able to zoom into a day view of the whole team with working hours next to it (similar to google calendar)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking projects
Laying out timelines for cost estimates
Evaluating studio capacity
Tracking team leave and overtime
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great for managing time and using it for production or if you have multiple jobs coming in.

Always do the tutorials so you can keep your clients and jobs organized and optimise all the features.

Definitely create teams and use the roles resource as much as you can. This helps with organising teams and allocating jobs to the best people. Especially if you have a large studio that you are trying to manage.

We cast our float schedule to screens in our studio so that the whole team can see what everyone is working on. Very useful.

Handy tool for managing our resources

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Smooth looking application
- Handy for getting insight in how much resources every department has, and how many resources a department can lend to another
- Easy for departments to schedule resources
- Great user management
What do you dislike about the product?
- Nothing really, the application worked well for us
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our departments worked fine on their own, but lending (human) resources to other departments was hard, we didn't have insight in how many resources we could lend from one department to another. Float helped us with solving this problem.

Easy to start with

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
An easy start for scheduling multiple people of multiple teams. Float gives a nice overview and had good reporting functionality
What do you dislike about the product?
Scheduling meetings for multiple people requires the meeting to be scheduled for each individual. Then when for example the meeting date changes all separate items need to be rescheduled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a day-to-day overview of or resources, including contractors. We started with Excel but that was hard. Float allowed us to set up an initial schedule for a few months in just hours.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to start with, at low costs

Float Review for Audio / Visual Studio

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The feature that we as an audio / visual studio have found the most beneficial is the scheduling feature. This allows us as a team to assign and schedule tasks and projects, and allows each individual to keep track of what the need to complete by when and what is upcoming in the days and weeks ahead. By doing this everyone on the team can log into Float and see what it is each team member is busy on and when it needs to be completed by.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a user i have found that the admin person can schedule tasks and projects for individual team members, but if these need to be changed suddenly then they can only be changed by the admin person and not the individual. I have had one or two occasions when I needed to update and reshuffle my schedule on Float but wasn't able to do so as the admin person was off or not in the office. This caused some scheduling delays for myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Float we have used it extensively the last few months to help our Studio stay on top of the multiple projects we have on the go at one time. With multiple team members working on different projects it has allowed us as a studio to keep on the ball and make sure we meet deadlines, and has allowed us to see what we can take on and when. As the studio is getting busier and busier Float is becoming a vital, central platform that the team rely on daily to produce quality work on time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Float is a valuable tool for us a busy, up-and-coming audio and visual design studio. If you need a central, easily accessible platform to keep track of tasks, projects and individual's work loads on a daily, weekly and monthly basis then I recommend Float as a highly useful tool and one that we are relying on more and more, as the studio gets busier and busier.

Higher productivity tool - float

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use, you don't need to be a computer expect for you to use it. It also shows you the tasks that your team members are busy with on a particular day/week/month
What do you dislike about the product?
The software does not have status for a task, I think it is important for a user to set a status of the task that they are doing. For example, when you are done with a task, you can mark it as done which will show your team members.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We able to keep track of the tasks that each member is responsible for.

Ease of use

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to see what I have been scheduled [by the traffic and/or operations manager] to work on over a period of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that we cannot log time spent against the tasks [generate time sheets]; we have to use other apps to log time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeing what our peers are working on helps with transparency. One's leader wouldn't need to hover over them to know what they are working on, making for a calmer work environment, resulting in higher productivity levels.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will likely need to use Jira or Chase to manage tasks and track time spent on them
