What do you like best about the product?
This to be honest is tough! I love how the players can be placed anywhere. we have set ups in different parts of the world, on and off the LAN etc and it really gives you an insight into where the problem really lies.
What do you dislike about the product?
this is actually being corrected but hasn't as of the 22nd Jan 18. Browser support for more the IE. you can not at the moment use any browser other then IE. this can cause issues if you have webpages that don't work well in IE.
It also has a very dated feel and look to the software. Its not a show stopper as functionality is key but when trying to get the purse holders sign off it can be difficult with older looking UI's
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
latency around the offices. as you can monitor say the company website from all different locations you get a picture of site health as well as website health.
Plus actually knowing when your site is down or slow before user start calling. We have all had the dreaded call from SMT tell you something is broken. Its nice to be able to go back and say yes I know we are doing, this, this and this to fix it currently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Place players in quality locations. Being able to place them on any windows PC/Server/Workstation is huge. Test it off the LAN, over seas, on the LAN etc.

Good tool but needs automation capabilities

What do you like best about the product?
This product required minimal configuration and is somewhat intuitive if you've used other tools for creating synthetic transactions. It has the ability to expand to dozens or even hundreds of players so the amount of synthetic transactions possible with the tool is very large. It is also a very inexpensive product compared with SaaS providers that do similar things.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automation facilities within the product are non-existent. The API is rudimentary and there is little that can be done from a scripting standpoint which is a shame as tool has the ability to create large amounts of transactions and deploy them to dozens of players but is heavily limited by this shortcoming. Changes to transactions are all manual so a simple process like changing a password requires editing a transaction recording. Extend that out to changing passwords every 30 days on a hundred transactions and that is a significant investment in time and effort for such a simple task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Full end-to-end synthetic transactions are allowing us to get real time, regularly scheduled information around client experience. It also allows functional verification of very granular processes within a transaction and alerting based on availability and performance for those functions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pingdom has a good system for synthetic transactions and may be a good option if you are doing less then 20 or 30 transactions from a cost perspective or the company is small enough that they prefer SaaS provided services.
