Excellent operating system for your daily needs

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu being an open source operating system based on Linux is an outstanding piece of software. It gives me the tools I need to do basically anything. I have Chrome for web browsing, Blender for 3D modelling ,LibreOffice for office tasks, GIMP for art work and photo editing, and a whole lot more!

Things look different as compared from other operating systems but the common functionalities are present. In all honesty, it is a breeze to use Ubuntu and it will help you become more productive in the long run.
What do you dislike about the product?
Design-wise, Ubuntu does look amateurish. It looks totally odd with some default icons looking a bit aged. The design aspect does not go in flow with the latest design trend. The bubble like application launchers in the Launcher looks odd compared to Windows.

The color scheme of Ubuntu can make it look weird at times. Overtime, the look of Ubuntu can make it look boring but the customization of Ubuntu makes up for this.

Sometimes, Ubuntu has a slower booting time and sometimes lags depending on the system it is running on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu gives us flexibility, speed, and raw power we cannot find in Windows. Ubuntu speeds up the development process as well by providing us developer tools out-of-the-box. Ubuntu with its kernel supporting a lot of devices makes its deployment to other computers an easier chore.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are considering to use Ubuntu, do take note that some quirks you are used to Windows will not be present. This might alienate you at first but you will get used to it overtime. Also, an i3 with 2GB RAM is enough to run Ubuntu.

Ubuntu MATE

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using the Ubuntu MATE flavor for the last weeks instead of the regular ubuntu with the unity interface. The MATE interface is very easy and light, and far more customizable than the Unity, which makes it's use more fun.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are not many things to dislike in this Ubuntu flavor. I think that the only thing that I miss are the hot corners that I used to use on the regular Ubuntu or in the Linux Mint.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using to run some thermodynamics models with the Netbeans IDE. So far it is pretty good.

my technical review for ubuntu

What do you like best about the product?
ubuntu is my first experience with linux so far,I liked the user experience when using the GUI, it was outstanding and I didn't expected it to be this easy and smooth, another thing here for me coming from windows is that I'm not forced to use any antivirus to work safe on my computer.
What do you dislike about the product?
till now ubuntu is still not satisfying me with gaming, all linux I think, however there is interesing games that are playable on ubuntu, but I'm still missing the awesome games on windows.

another issue that I think ubuntu still missing is the app store, I can tell that ubuntu will be more powerful with more bigger app store that offer easy way to download the apps instead of using the terminal and synaptic which is still scary for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my work field (telecommunication) ubuntu is the most common used between my colleges around the world as it support lot of advanced application that serve in the field.

ubuntu is also free and this is the most hidden useful feature I can discuss, no need to take care of licensed usage of operating systems
Recommendations to others considering the product:
ubuntu is the right OS if you are looking for a system that serve your specific advanced work need, you may miss the games, but you will be more productive

What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity, Unity graphical interface is very elegant and with a great usability, is a fast, secure and simple to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Bugs that usually occurs because the video card driver, sometimes a place crashes and you must restart the system, but nothing that would disqualify the system or something. continue still the best option, especially for those coming from Windows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working with web development, and I think the super optimized for development system, easy installation of the tools I need.
