Ubuntu for developers

  • December 30, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Ubuntu for developers: Gives full control on files and other computer resources.
2. Safe from most of the viruses: Since it has Linux OS, everything is a file, so even a malicious .exe file from hacker would effect unless you run it on your own.
3. Uses EXT2 file system: Good for recovering files and better than NTFS
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Not suitable for non - developers or non - technical people: Although it has a User friendly user interface, but there is a possibility of user executing a command which may lead to various issues (like user can execute command to destroy the kernel itself or a important kernal related file through "rm -rf" command - fastest way to delete contents )
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Open source: Free and huge community support.
2. Better than windows : As Ubuntu desktop does not requires any license like windows and user has more power by adding "sudo "(root user ) before a command.
3. Easy to install software and applications

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a free OS. Anyone can download and use it. One of the best things about Ubuntu is its friendly user interface and constant updates. I'd say that Ubuntu is the best platform for developers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to Windows, Ubuntu does not have that many apps and can be pretty tricky to use. If you are a gammer I don't recommend Ubuntu at all. Its verry hard to install a game.

I had an old computer that couldn't run windows smoothly. But with Ubuntu, I had no problems. I realized that Ubuntu has better performance and wifi connection.

A clean platform with all ease to perform operation from command line

  • December 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like about ubuntu platform is the UI is clean there are no random services running which are no use to, also you can perform all your download and install for your services from command line. It provides you a user friendly UI with no lengthy operations and easy manipulation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing which I didn't like are softwares compatibility. In today we have many software which supports ubuntu platform and we can use them, but still I find we are restricted to some of specific fields. The other concern for me is regarding privacy and protection. It quite easy to mess up with the ubuntu platform and you have to be an expert to handle those situations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benifits which I find is usage of command line we can easily manipulate files, folder, and download and install service from one window which is the terminal. You don't have to switch to multiple windows to perform small operation like edit, copy, move and install. Also you can manage many more things from terminal for which you need to be aware off. And the clean UI is itself a boon to use this platforms.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a clean interface with faster operation you should definitely switch to onw of the best os platform. It will also help you to improve in your command line activities.

Ubuntu can be a little bit hard to get used to but once you do it's the best operating system

  • December 23, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a freeware, it's fully customisable according to your needs, it's more secure and Ubuntu desktop is open source, Ubuntu allows smooth updates with little down time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well Ubuntu desktop doesn't have a good support for games, the repository system could be a little bit better many software's aren't available for installation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You don’t need to wait through a whole installation process because you can run Ubuntu as Live directly from a pen drive. Business performance has increased majorly.

Open source Platform for General and Professional User

  • December 17, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Open-source, so it is free to use and modify as per needs. User-friendly and best GUI for general-purpose users as well. It will be a great choice free of cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some people might feel it challenging to install programs through terminals. A basic understanding of commands is needed while installing some programs/software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for general purposes like surfing the internet, development and software deployment, and long-running background processes like data integration tasks. Able to use it for free if I used windows for the same job, I had to pay the licensing fee, etc...
