excellent operating system.
What do you like best about the product?
Open-source. We can change any config and settings as per our requirement. and it's quite easy. we can easily manage our applications and data. very easy to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu stores some config data and metadata whenever we remove some module/software so if we want to install the same module/software then we have to manually remove that configs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can set up open-source projects with any flavor of Linux and we can modify as per our requirement. Ubuntu provides full base modification permission as well so its easy to manage things.
There is more than meets the eye
What do you like best about the product?
There's Windows, there's Mac OS and then... Ubuntu! If you have never used Linux before it might sound like a Hacker's thing to you but fact is, Ubuntu is as user friendly and nice and polished as Windows. With many applications and even an app store, Ubuntu is nowadays an alternative as neat as Windows. Easy to install, with a quick hand on installation system and many free apps like Libreoffice or Mozilla.
What do you dislike about the product?
Basically, Ubuntu still deserves more "love" or "attention" from main developers like Adobe or Corel... Yes, you have several freeware or shareware solutions for almost anything you need, but still, the software library lacks big names.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is a really nice option for that computer that cannot get upgraded to Windows 10 or Windows 11. It will run smooth and will still be in shape for the next 3-4 years to come.
Best Operating System
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is fast for programing, stable, secure, robust to use, also free to use
What do you dislike about the product?
Microsoft office cannot be used in ubuntu and also does not provide as much application as windows
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is used well to use in the technical field and is scalable to use. Due to lightweight os, it runs very smoothly and consumes less memory than windows.
Amazing Open Source OS
What do you like best about the product?
To many open source tools and utilities are available for daily work
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes updates are more frequent which raises unnecessary bugs in the OS
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using ubuntu for daily work and developing software with Ubuntu, major benefits i realized is ubuntu community is very vast which helps me with my daily work
Ubuntu - a user friendly distro
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is light, make the boot up really fast. Apps are less likely to hang. Alongside a strong UI the console has some powerful commands in its repetoire which appeals to my liking.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the downside Ubuntu lacks refinement. Lack of certain applications like the office 365 really puts the user at a disadvantage. Also premium applications like Adobe suit and similar apps should be made available for Ubuntu as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me Ubuntu comes handy for text manipulation and related applications. I need to deal with really large textfiles on a daily basis, the command interface makes it easier for me to manipulate, sort and extract useful info out of the files in a jiffy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ideal if you need a strong UI with command capabilities.
One of the most user friendly open source OS.
What do you like best about the product?
The useability is better than most of the other open-source desktop OS products available in the market. It contains LibreOffice which is quite competitive enough for most daily work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The installation of software here generally has simple commands which need improvement to double click installers. But can't complain as there are security reasons behind it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most ML software was easy to download and use here along side other OS as we can dual boot with ubuntu. Processing time is excellent when working on ML projects.
A versatile desktop for more common computing tasks
What do you like best about the product?
The UI has come along way to help the migration of Windows centric users feel at home on a non windows OS. The productivity applications are getting comprehensive too.
What do you dislike about the product?
The patching process can still be cumbersome to automate and control to the same level as Windows Operating Systems. Antivirus offerings can also be more limited than Windows or Mac offerings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We quickly needed to redeploy our backlog of older laptops with a standardized and supported Operating System at the start of 2020 to some of our employees. The organization required this in response to the Covid 19 lockdowns and many users not having suitable hardware in their homes. It is important to note most of our business and productivity apps are SaaS-delivered, so we had limited to no issues with application compatibility.
Good for all your DevOps needs
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu Server is free and customizable. This means that it is suited to satisfy most needs. Ubuntu Server supports many commonly used software, which can be used to quickly set up anything from a web server to a local network storage system. It is simple to deploy on any piece of hardware or within a virtual machine.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a variety of supported versions of Ubuntu Server. While this is typically not an issue due to the level of community support, there can be times where a certain configuration or software does not work as well on one version of Ubuntu as it would another. This can lead to issues where you have a system that half works perfectly on one version and half works perfectly on another version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilize Ubuntu Server for many different purposes. Primarily, I use it to develop, test, and deploy various web servers, but I have also used it as a local network storage management system. I often use it to test Docker images that provide easy to deploy services that I want to evaluate.
You can' t go wrong with this Beauty
What do you like best about the product?
In recent Ubuntus, the UI has become much better again. I like the colors and the software of the the normal desktop install. It' s NOT cluttered, there is easy scaling for any laptop and it works well in a VM.
What do you dislike about the product?
Still a bit heavy. I'd like the topbar to have an easy scaling method. For all the rest, wow, Open Source has proven it's here to stay. Xubuntu and some other derivatives are speedier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a free system. I can use it in VMs on a powerful Chromebook; this gives me programs I can not load in Crostini and need for my job as a linguist, really!!
Very good for development
What do you like best about the product?
It's swift and easy for development purposes since we need a lot of file processing, so it minimizes the time consumed for logistics things
What do you dislike about the product?
it's not user friendly, so normal users may have problems using it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Implementing software products in a good time and fewer resources
