Secured OS with good UI

  • October 21, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Executing Linux commands in the Ubuntu terminal makes me feel like a hacker. The scope for this OS would be only developers/engineers. Other naive users won't be able to do basic tasks on ubuntu as they will be new to the terminal.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not able to install chrome on ubuntu.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I.ve used ubuntu for my work. I was using it for the sake of fun.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Those who have the craze for the terminal can opt for this OS.

Latest Ubuntu releases 21.04 hirsuite, ZFS out of the box, huge win for migrating FreeBSD to Linux.

  • October 21, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is free, unlike RHEL, and doesn't require using a clone like CentOS. I've always preferred the deb packaging system over rpm. Ubuntu releases stick much closer to the cutting edge releases of major pieces of software, e.g. apache, node, nginx, bind, postfix, clang, etc, etc. It is less conservative than RHEL in this respect.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canonical hacks own code sometimes, company is smaller, less FOSS-dedicated - at least this is perception. Things like amazon ads on ubuntus menu, age of snap (e.g. vs flatpak). Mostly not much to dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Linux w/ ZFS out of box, packaging very up to date, commercial but less so than RHEL, supports docker, snaps, and deb/apt pkg system (in addition to language specific things like npm, pip/pyenv, yarn, ruby gems, etc etc). Security conscious.

What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu is a Linux-based OS, but some of the applications do not support the Linux version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu does not require the command to insert a pen drive or etc.

Excellent Operating system with an extraordinary kernal

  • October 16, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is a freeware secured operating system which is user-friendly that requires low system requirements and supported by ubuntu support community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu can't be able to play mp3 audio files as audio driver support is not feasible in it.

One should have basic idea of how to run commands.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to work on Devops using ubuntu where I experienced
1. Scalability that enables faster software delivery.
2. Flexibility that help in installing the software in every aspect of operating system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I strongly advice to experience this operating system

Lightweight, ready to use linux environment

  • October 15, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how they improve Ubuntu, every 6 months with new releases. LTS versions are an excellent idea for stable environments and purposes. It's very lightweight, so we can reuse old hardware. It's also possible to try different flavours of their Desktop environment, like KDE or XFCE. There's a huge community where we can find solutions and solve problems. Very large package library. No need to set antiviruses. No licenses costs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometime they lose time and energy in something not very useful as unity or Ubuntu One. Also Xorg vs Wayland, letting users decide, is not the best for me. There is no Ubuntu Cloud or embedded solution to smoothly move from one laptop to a new one. The transition roadmap to new package systems is not clear (flatpack and so). Release upgrade can sometimes ask questions that not all users can answer, i.e. about what to do with grub.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Ubuntu Desktop, we can use an OS completely free, even on old hardware, that comes with all we need to work. As we have also many ubuntu servers running, we can be ready to manage them with no effort or changing the way packages installs or bash works.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use LTS versions, take a look at bash and terminal use, do not expect to get all Windows exe running flawlessly, but at 99% you'll find a solution or replacement. Try it on a real hardware, not only in a virtual machine, so you'll be able to check if is compliant with your hw. Dual boot is a good idea to start using it.

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing are perfect, While it’s a well-rounded distro, it does have some flaws.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I never use that word, - Problem. We have tasks, to do lists etc. So basicaly Ubuntu is for a team daily use. Dont think that others distro for much useful for the begginers. I mean everybody can use an Ubuntu daily
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good choice if you wanna switch from Windows. Easy to setup, scaleable, easy to use.

Ubuntu Review

  • October 11, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is an open-source, free operating system. The system is user-friendly and relatively easy to understand. The OS is fast and secure. Ubuntu is a self-compiling software - it adapts to the hardware and works as per your requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many applications are specifically designed to run on Microsoft or IoS, which makes using all software on Ubuntu not possible. Many drivers need to be installed separately - which makes using this OS an unpleasant experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Ubuntu on my system using a Virtual Machine - Oracle VirtualBox. Ubuntu is a secure software, and I can drag-drop, copy-paste files between the VM and my system, which makes my work easier. Ubuntu makes the testing and debugging process easier by giving you more command over your system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ubuntu is a safe and secure system - even if it is not your primary OS, you can use it on your system using a VM and use it as a development and testing environment.

    Consumer Services

One of the best for open source

  • October 05, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the things is that it is FREE, and I can say that probably immune to any virus rather than other operating systems. It's easy to use with the GUI environment that it has.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn't say I don't like most of the thing like update or by installing a package do that need to be executed by command line, I can work with it, but that the only thing that I don't like the most
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The performance that he has done that it doesn't need too many resources of the hardware

What do you like best about the product?
Ease to update; no cost for the company; massive amount of software; easy to add app repositories.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not that easy to work it on new computers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is all about costs and security. Ubuntu is user-friendly and reliable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
One significant advantage of using Linux is customization. Test the different flavors of Ubuntu, and you will find one suitable for your needs without a doubt.
