Powerful yet simple and quick opennsource OS
What do you like best about the product?
I would say community support is one of the best things about ubuntu with impressive documentation for any kind of search and operational functionality needed to learn. Another best thing is its user chooses to go with GUI or CLI with much simplicity and what could be more than excellent security features free of cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
No default GUI support for the server. would be a bit difficult for someone who is more adapted to the Windows environment as most of the packages needed to be installed would take some effort and time as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Well, Security is the 1st thing that can be solved in a server environment. I use it for hosting and managing my web-based applications in different locations and haven't come across any security issues plus it's smooth for handling log files efficiently whenever needed.
Ubuntu is an excellent unix based operating system, fun to work with.
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is very easy to download. The most recent version is available as an open source version online. With a few clicks and a bunch of straightforward steps to follow, the installation is quite easy. Post-installation steps are quite easy to execute. Any package that needs to be installed could be easily taken care of using a 'pip install' command. The user of this server becomes the default administrator and is able to carry out any operations of admin interest with ease. Ubuntu recent version is ver. 20.04 which supports most of the application downloads with ease. It's one of the most easy operating systems to work with if you are a Unix savvy.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times, not all the required packages are installed by default. You will need to perform your due diligence in locating the missing packages. At times, the nature of errors encountered could be a bit daunting. Not everytime, you will be able to find information about these errors online. There could be times when it might take a few days figuring out the solution. The packages of your interest may be distributed across several different sub packages and it's vital that you figure out the exact names of these sub packages for successfully installing the packages on a holistic front.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu has all the packages needed for ETL including some of the core languages like Python, Databases and SQL based operations. The ability of Ubuntu to interface with several applications is one of the salient features. Using Ubuntu, a successful configuration of Apache Airflow was carried out. All the config files, dependent files, folders including the image files for containers were successfully installed and implemented in Ubuntu. Docker and kubernetes cluster set up could also be successfully implemented in Ubuntu. Ubuntu necessarily supported all the mandated packages and tools needed to carry out the end to end ETL operations in my organization and was one of the relaible servers to depend upon.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ubuntu server could be considered as your premium choice if you are good in unix and looking to create a platform to carry out operations on a fact paced note. Owing to its open source feature, the server is easy to locate and install. The operations to be carried out could at times be a bit tricky for first time users but they will get a hang of it in a few days. Definitely worth a try!!!

Ubuntu server review
What do you like best about the product?
What i like most about ubuntu server is its ui generally unix platform based os in the market doesnot have much flexibility in terms of user interface and usability. Atleast when you are switching from windows server to unix server.
What do you dislike about the product?
Main constaraint of ubuntu server is its compatiability with other software which we are using in daily basis may be for personal use or for professional purpose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits os ubuntu is its kernal structure which is quite safe in terms of any security attack.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Other user who are considering unix server as an option always shall recomend to go for ubuntu as comparing to other available os its user friendliness is quite better.
Fast and secure
What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is the first OS which I learned and used in my college. This is the best OS to start journey in IT industry. It is fast as well as secure, also it is the best OS for programmers. It becomes very easy to share the files as it's speed is very fast. Also it just take 40GB space in hard disk for installation of OS. I am currecly using duol boot PC with windows and Ubuntu. It's UI is best and it does not hang just like other OS.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing which I am expecting from Ubuntu is that it should support more applications as I can not install required applications on Ubuntu. So I have to switch between windows and ubuntu very often due to unavailability of features. Otherwise if I will get all my favorite under one Ubuntu OS, I will permanently shift to Ubuntu.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Ubuntu for programming purpose. Also it is very easy to write scripts and run it. As all the file opener applications are inbuild, there is no efforts required to donwload extra softwares for opening files.

Since the advent of WSL, Ubuntu has been more widely used. Support for GUI applications based on Ubuntu in windows will be highly appreciated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use ubuntu for using OpenFoam application and I have been having an amazing experience.
UBUNTU IS the safest and most stable OS but at what cost?
What do you like best about the product?
UBUNTU was the best OS I used because, as advertised, it compiles itself to run on your system and not the other way around: just click "ESC" while booting, and you will actually see it loading and compiling a ton of drivers and stuff to give you the optimal experience your hardware can manage.
The server version can be set up to accept WINDOWS clients and link to a MICROSOFT network environment, and it offers a wide range of variants to choose from.
The best thing is it is virus-free. Programmer boast that if you wish for your computer to catch a virus running UBUNTU, you will have to manually download a virus and install it yourself.

What do you dislike about the product?
Many of the applications I use at my office are WINDOWS compatible, and they are not compatible with UBUNTU. You can try to run WINE, but it's not the same thing.
You can find a counterpart for every software you need, but you cannot share their files unless the recipient has the same software, so yes: compatibility is a big problem, and that's why I stopped using it.
Updates need to be launched manually, and if you did not configure the repositories well, you would not be able to do it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At school, we have many old laptops that cannot run windows smoothly because their hardware is outdated. UBUNTU can run on almost any hardware configuration, which is one of its' major strong points.
Also, WINDOWS sometimes just refuses to access some external storage devices like USB keys or even HARD DRIVES. With UBUNTU, as long as the device is still functional, you can access it and use it.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
UBUNTU is like your private tank: it just keeps going while helping you get the most out of your hardware.
Secure, fast, and dependable, it probably is the best OS out there.
If you do not mind learning other software, it is the solution you need: it's free, available in many versions and distros, and runs on virtually any computer.
