We use ubuntu on all our server to host our and client applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Using your servers is awesome, using it on the desktop is also good, but there are not lot of choices of first-party devices that run Ubuntu or ubuntu approved hardware.

Widely Adopted and a Great Support Community

  • August 25, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Canonical takes a rather opinionated stance with its official Ubuntu flavor, regarding software. Because of this, minimal effort is required on the part of a user to get a usable system up and running. This in now way limits further customization.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the official apt repositories are mostly well maintained, there are instances where we are still building packages by hand in order to run recent versions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Picking Ubuntu as a distro to build and test on allows us to cover a very large proportion of end-users running on Linux.

Ubuntu The developers OS

Ubuntu is Linux based OS The best thing about ubuntu is bash shell. Moreover, ubuntu has quite a big community. So if we ran into some problem we can find its solution very easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite so many advantages, I don't find any cons in it. One thing that can be improved is its GUI.

Yes, Open Source Linux IS Business Class

  • August 16, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that this software allows you to start working with it right away without having to worry about business process getting in the way. No timed trials, lots of free support, tons of online tutorials.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it is so flexible, there are infinite number of ways to set it up. Sometimes, this can be difficult when transitioning a system from someone who does things different than you do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many of the commercially available tools that are out there are too expensive to get up and running. With Ubuntu, I do not need to worry about the cost. I can just jump in and go! So far, I use Ubuntu to:
- network management
- BI
- documentation
- electronic forms
- workflow
- automation
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is one of those things where you simply need to feel comfortable working in the environment and you need to be confident that you will be successful along with getting the assistance that you need when things do not go your way. There is so much community support and documentation available at absolutely no cost to you for the Ubuntu operating system, there really is no reason not to go with it. The only caveat that I would put out there is that if you are using the package manager (apt or apt-get), sometimes the packages can be a little bit long in the tooth. Do take some time to ensure that the version you have installed is the right version fro you.
