The best platform for quality online learning

  • December 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very well designed, and works well on all of my devices. The quality of the courses is awesome. Real university professors teach many of their courses, and you really feel like you are getting quality education instead of just some "expert" without credentials.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of anything offhand, except that sometimes there's so many options I don't know which course to start with!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have transitioned from a business management position to a software management position within the company, and their courses have been invaluable in helping me quickly get up to speed.

high quality courses!

What do you like best about the product?
I like that, although you can purchase courses (and earn a certificate), you can also audit the courses and access all the information for free. I have only had positive experiences with Coursera courses. The instructors are engaging, and the quizzes and other class supplements help to reinforce topics covered in the lectures. The lectures are well prepared, and they are just long enough to give a good explanation. Most lecture videos are 10-20 mins long. I also appreciate that all the course material is available when you enroll for a course. If you want to skip a section, then you can easily go to a later week and watch the videos on a particular topic. The lecture videos are also very good quality, and navigation through the coursera course system is very intuitive. Finally, I really like that you can download videos / course supplements so you can study even without an internet connection.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like that to get answers to quizzes or have access to peer grading you have to purchase the course. It is somewhat irritating to do the quizzes but never find out your grade. Also, when you first enter the coursera website, it seems like you have to pay for the classes. However, if you click on 'enroll', a tiny check box appears that says 'audit' and that allows you to take the class for free. It is somewhat misleading because it seems like you must pay for course content, which is not true.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used Coursera to prepare for other classes (I am a ph.D student), which ultimately has helped my research efforts. Coursera has helped me to gain the knowledge I needed to complete certain aspects of my research. Thus, it has helped me be more productive.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Coursera to individuals needing to 'brush up' on topics for school or work. It is especially good for people who already have a job but wish to learn more about a certain topic on their own time. You can watch videos from most devices (e.g. laptop, phone, tablet), and you can even download the videos and watch them without an internet connection. I

A virtual university where the best professors in the world teach

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Coursera for more than 5 years now, and I have learned some of the fundamental courses in Computer Science from the best professors in the world on Coursera. Without Coursera, I would have a difficult time in finding the quality material on various topics in Computer Science. I like the fact that one either audit a course or a complete a certification, I like both the options. Also, the course materials like handouts and slides are of great quality. The exercise problems are challenging that forces a student to apply the knowledge gained. Overall the learning experience is highly rewarding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of the courses and the related materials used to be freely available on Coursera. However, with the recent changes, some of the courses are categorized into specific tracks, and they are not free anymore. However I am glad that one can still audit the paid courses, but access to the course materials may be limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coursera provides access to high-quality materials on various topics in Computer Science. One can build their career in specialized tracks like data analytics, UI/UX design, etc., by completing the courses on Coursera. Also, these days the Coursera certifications are appreciated and accepted by various software development and research firms which is a great incentive for completing certifications on Coursera.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Coursera is an online learning platform that offers courses taught by the best professors in the world. Hence, investing in learning through Coursera is guaranteed to have high returns. As the Coursera certifications are becoming widely known, if someone is trying to build a career on a specific track, taking Coursera courses for certifications is highly recommended.

Online courses from Ivy League professors!

  • December 05, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Coursera offers one of the largest collection of online courses in the world and many of these courses are offered through recorded video lessons by Ivy league professors who teach the same courses to full-time undergraduate and graduate students. Also, the wealth and breadth of courses present make it a revolutionary alternative to attending atypical college courses. Overall, websites like coursera are an important component of the education economy.
What do you dislike about the product?
More courses should involve peer to peer collaboration and teamwork in projects but currently there is not a compulsion on course participants to participate in forum discussions or post their opinions on course questions. This can limit the virtual classroom environment of some courses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The greatest benefit of coursera is access to quality courses on various subjects that you can either browse or dive in deeply. Customizatable, flexible and accessible.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a highly recommended tool fort those considering a quick solution to studying quality courses.

Paying for separate courses, no overall subscription for all content.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great way to continue education as well as learn new skills, affordable and easy to do on your own time.

What do you dislike about the product?
price and availability of courses (used to be free)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about the product?
I like the multiple course options! It is also clear in each description as to what we should expect. I like the variety.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of tech options, I would love some more education/children focused. I disliked that not all of them have the option to be self taught, although I understand that may be a personal choice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's more so about professional development! Which is great-- I need 16 hours each year for work! It's really fun to learn more about different areas that I wasn't able to in college!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it for professional development for yourself or your employees! It has so many options, including self timing courses for the busy professional, or actual courses with deadlines for those who prefer school!
