Insights is Invaluable
What do you like best about the product?
NewRelic has a lot of parts to the service (Application monitoring, Mobile, Browser stats, Insights, etc), but Insights is the one that I use every day--and it doesn't seem to have a competitor. The near-realtime (less than a minute) charts, graphs, comparison tables and custom queries on software activity is not only visually stunning but also easy to use. Using Insights queries, I've been able to find and fix issues with production web software before customers even notice the problem exists. By watching trends and error reports, I can keep ahead of issues (both bugs, service issues and scaling needs) before they become problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few things I would love to see in the Insights panel. I make heavy use of saved custom Dashboards and often find myself building a complex dashboard that I need to duplicate for another environment (having the environment for PROD, now I need a copy of the same thing where the only difference in all the queries is the appName). This doesn't seem to be available so I spend a fair amount of time copy/pasting queries and editing the appName query to create additional dashboards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this tool daily to keep an eye on application performance (response times, expected behaviors, dependent service outages/hiccups, cache keys being what they should be, etc). The list of benefits is too large to cover entirely and completely custom to each application. As new clients integrate with my software, I use NewRelic Insights to track onboarding behaviors and ensure clients have correctly implemented the integration. I can see how often (every day around 3am) my services are scanned for vulnerabilities by some agent on the internet). Insights does exactly what the name implies; It gives me insight into what is happening in near-realtime with my applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have a free tier that holds 1 week of data in insights. This fits most of my application needs. We only use the longer availability tiers for cases where we need a wider breadth of stats and charts.

Awesome product!
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic makes it easy to track both our web and mobile apps in one place
What do you dislike about the product?
Their Android SDK has proved troublesome to integrate with Android Studio 2.0

Tracking the performance, usage, and crashes of our mobile and web apps - New Relic makes it easy to track all of this information in one place
New Relic - when monitoring happens from multiple locations
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic is not only an application performance monitoring tool, but also allows you to monitor your website from multiple different geographical locations. This latest feature is extremely handy, when you offer SaaS solutions to your clients, where the client can be at any part of the world - in such a case this feature - monitoring your site from different continents, from different countries - really can help you to once to act pro-actively and know before anyone else if there is a connectivity issue from region X towards your solution and secondly, the ability to check historical data also helps identifying, if the problem is region dependent or related your own platform.
So main features for us:
- Monitoring from multiple different geographical locations
- Alerting (when you get alerts not only from outages but also from state recoveries)
- Historical data

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to mention here - the application does what it supposed to do, if you would like to have a full environment monitoring and alerting coverage then this tool alone will not do the trick, but they also do not position themselves there: but in combination with other monitoring tools you can get a really excellent stack.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our clients at Nebu can be found all over the world, in many different countries and continents - and if someone hosted a centralised SaaS solution, can easily realise, that monitoring your sites from different geo-locations gives enormous value to your tech and support team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I tried a few available solutions and chose New Relic, based on what it offered and how simply it was to set up monitoring and alerting, apart from this I checked other features that can be useful, like historical data back to X days - walking on this path, it also can be crystal clear for you what exactly you need and based on the must have features list you have, you can make decision easily. The tool has a free version, even a non time limited one (where certain functionalities are limited, e.g. how many sites you can monitor or how many days back you can check your alert messages) - just try that and you can see if the tool is up to your requirements.
Really good product
What do you like best about the product?
The python integration that allows in a minimum configuration to have a lot of informations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The paid version is really expensive, but powerful!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can track the response time, error rates, server health. Moreover the alert are useful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy to setup and quick result guarantee
Simple server monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Installing their server monitoring software is easy and requires little to no configuration. Works like a charm and best of all it's free. Website alerts (synthetics) are very useful as well to have multiple locations check the availability of your website.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app (Android) confuses me a lot. I keep getting a notification about using an older (API) version of alerts but I've got no clue how to disable this. I also have a case of an ongoing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using New Relic to monitor my servers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Server monitoring is free and so is synthetics. You can't go wrong with these to monitor your servers' performance.
Simple, discrete analytics that allow you to rectify problems before they happen
What do you like best about the product?
NewRelic is a very different breed of analytics tool, one that actually allows you to spot issues before they end up hitting your customers. Over my years of using it, I've never come across anything quite like it. The ability to spot failures and very minute errors that could start cropping up in larger clusters has helped eliminate all kinds from total site failure all the way down to database query improvement.
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of an ability to very accurately filter this stuff down can sometimes mean you end up with a big data overload, but the tools are good enough to keep everything going. Still, i'd like some kind of heavy-duty query language to look for really obscure event crossovers, and to allow more fine-tuned analytics would be nice. Additionally, there can be some bandwidth issues with larger events sending over additional data, but with some tweaking that tends to be relatively easy to fix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The general ability to put so little code into a deployment but reap so many benefits means our return on investment with this tool is massive. The amount of issues it has both solved and been instrumental in preventing means that it has become an integral part of our stack, and indeed an integral part of ensuring that everything continues to run day to day. Overall, coupled with tools like Sentry, these two have the biggest potential to help prevent catastrophe of any set of services we've tried.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure that you double-check your implementation before going live, sometimes it may not be working off the bat.
An extremely useful tool that give accurate information to diagnose problems quickly.
What do you like best about the product?
The APM is extremely useful for drilling down on specific transactions and events that happen on our site. Everything from external web requests to services we use all the way to DB queries are processed and it allows us to see where problems exist.
It also integrates with other tools and alerts us when certain thresholds are met that could cause delays or downtime.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the UI can feel a bit cumbersome to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Speed a big one for us. Trying to make sure our response time is low is extremely important and since we've started monitoring it we've made it a priority. Now, through changes inspired by NewRelic, our response time is sub 150ms.
New Relic is Amazing!
What do you like best about the product?
New Relic's application and server monitoring has allowed our team to build better, faster, and more stable products since using it. We have also been able to make huge fixes to legacy code bases.
The APM product has been instrumental in our ability to improve application and server performance.
The Synthetics product is great for passive monitoring as well as scripting interactions on your site and timing the performance and availability. Page load times can be monitored over time to gauge site performance as content changes.
The Browser product offers a great real-time look at your users. It's also great for debugging and monitoring JavaScript performance on client computers.
Insights is great for diving into deep analytics. The dashboards are great for non-technical users to get a view of user and application performance.

What do you dislike about the product?
New Relic has been steadily improving the product and adding features that are beneficial to our environment. There is very little to dislike. However, the learning curve on using Insights effectively is pretty steep and could use improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use New Relic to monitor our web application performance, both on the server and client. We also use it to monitor our web and database servers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need solid application and server monitoring New Relic can handle your needs.
It gives me in depth knowledge about how software I build is running in production
What do you like best about the product?
The info that New Relic APM gives me: I can really digg into stacktrace to understand what is my performance problem. Alerts are also very nice, they are easy to set and really useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes APM page loading is too slow. Also graphs time ranges are kind of akwart: in main view we might use ranges from 30m to 3months, some other pages only show a maximum of 7days.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing pages that load fast is a major concern in my company, since we advertise real estate. There are several studies showind that fast pages increase conversion. That said, using New Relic really gives the visibility we need to understand what are some perfomance bottlenecks and where we apply improvements.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to get a real time view of your app performance, New Relic is a must have.
Insights that will save your business money
What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to setup! Great way to day by day track performance of your app. The ability to see what transactions are the most "expensive" is invaluable. We have been able to cut down our heaviest server calls and "tune" up our app using the various analytics and data from New Relic.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could be a little easier to dig down into what you need to find. Maybe some additional tour/tutorials for first time users. Overall we are very happy with New Relic. It would be nice to see some youtube tutorials as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking app performance, tuning app better to reduce server needs. Pinging of our website. Warning and alert text message / email alerts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In my opinion it is best to review the New Relic email summaries every week. As your code base changes you can see what areas are improving or degrading.
