Great solution with Cohesity
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use is a big one for me. The quickness in doing restores whether file or server related.
Creating and monitoring backups couldnt be any easier. Support is also very good and responsive.

Honestly I really do not have anything negative to say.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Test/dev and cloning allows for advanced testing. We dont use it a lot but it has a lot of potential.

Cohesity changed our backups
What do you like best about the product?
Extremely fast recovery times, easy to use and setup. Great integration to cloud backups (ie: AWS S3). Restores take only seconds to spin up which is awesome. Ties in to AD easily. Can replace the functionality of a SMB file server.
What do you dislike about the product?
Exchange message-level restores are clunky, relies on 3rd party tool. Still works fine but takes longer than other vendors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've had a great experience moving to the Cohesity platform with the support of whole team. We had a good pre-sales experience and they've been very supportive and available during our implementation. The product is excellent, we're very happy with it (we've already used it in production for a restore and it worked flawlessly) and are continuing to explore the features as we use it more.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The initial purchase isn't cheap but you get what you pay for, and you'll save money in the long run with extremely fast recovery times and loads of options and customizations.

What do you like best about the product?
The fact I am able to backup over 90TB of Data to the cloud in 30 minutes without worrying about it and watching the dashboard

Nothing! Everything works great and as intended
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to completely remove tapes from our network and replace it with 100% native cloud backups.

What do you like best about the product?
VMware backup & MSSQL backup. The test and dev functions are also very useful
What do you dislike about the product?
Cloud requirements for off site DR. Right now it takes too much configuration and resources to quickly spin up DR in the cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have reduced our backup system count from 5 to 1. We have 15 min RPOs on MSSQL transaction servers. This is great for our retail business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Initial appliance startup could have been easier. Hopefully this has improved over the last two years.
Cohesity has been great so far

our Cohesity units are so easy to use, that it makes managing them really simple.

I haven't found a down side. They work very well

We started using the Cohesity as a file share system and the benefits have been great. We freed up some server space.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your research. We brought in several backup companies to do demos, and Cohesity won, even though we original had our hearts set on another vendor. Give them a chance.
Cohesity makes backup/recovery simple
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it just works. Easy to use, easy to manage, easy to upgrade. Backups are fast and simple. Recovers are even faster and easy enough to allow self service.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything that I do not like about Cohesity as of yet. We have been using Cohesity for almost 2 years and it just keeps getting better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to spend less time troubleshooting backup issues and more time on other projects. Less FTE time spent managing and troubleshooting backups.

Easy to manage solution and a great partner in Cohesity
What do you like best about the product?
Great for protecting VMware workloads in our on premises environment, and being able to archive those backups for long term in cheaper public cloud storage. Easy to use interface and policy driven backups make protecting large environments easier.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some times they bring new features to market before they are fully polished or feature complete. Examples include their initial file serving option which was very limited. It has incrementally improved and was recently relaunched under a new name.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were dealing with a legacy backup solution that had a lot of day to day operational issues, requiring my admins to spend a lot of time in the care of feeding of the solution. In addition, all offsite backups were being stored in a closed proprietary cloud owned by the backup vendor, and we wanted to get to a place where we could store those archives in public cloud.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ask to speak to reference customers that match your company profile. Plan to test the product in your own environment before you make a purchase decision. Make sure you thoroughly test all your planned use cases, e.g. archive to cloud, backup over the WAN, etc.

What do you like best about the product?
14 second restores and the ability to target the cluster as a datastore.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost, and it feels like I have to open a few support tickets every week.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backups are easier, faster, and better. They're also much easier to restore.
This platform has potential but not quite there

The most helpful thing is the eagerness of the support to get any issue you have resolved
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that we were looking for that was lacking and our system was not always stable
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
keeping all of them files and backups in on location. We have been able to retrieve lost\missing files in a fraction of the time
Cohesity is a modern backup solution which works well and reliably
What do you like best about the product?
Super fast and searchable restores, instant mounting from NFS shares to VMware that actually work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cloud data usage is high if you opt for backup to the usual suspects. They are working on this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Much faster restores, and because the dedupe works across all backups we are able to increase our backup frequency.

Take advantage of the virtual edition to test the platform before buying.
