The best thing is...
What do you like best about the product?
The chat icon in the lower right in the admin. The people that respond to that chat are not just some random person that doesn't know anything. They help you fix the problem and help you understand the problem. They have saved me so many times with my dumb questions and problems, and they pretend like your problem isn't dumb! :)
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I dislike is that the platform doesn't integrate well with working with a team on GitHub. We've worked our way around it by having a separate GitHub for version control, and then use the Local App tool for deploying, but that process still leaves room for human error. I'm not saying it's impossible. You can integrate it a bit, but it works better if there's only one person working on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Frequent and super easy backups. Pulling and pushing locally is stupid easy. Working locally is also stupidly easy to do. The hosting is solid and there is HELP for the stuff I'm not very good at, like setting up domains and such.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the Local App tool they provide.
Unstable web servers going down - taking our website offline.
What do you like best about the product?
WP-Engine support responds quickly and I like that there are automatic backups nightly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their web servers are unreliable. We use StatusCake to monitor uptime and our site goes down periodically. The worst-case was on April 21st when our website went offline and support was able to get it working again for a short time, but it went offline again. If your public website is an important aspect of your business, this may not be the hosting company for you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for a reliable and cost-effective solution. At this point, we are seeing more problems than benefits.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pay close attention to uptime. Shared servers are unreliable as we've experienced some serious issues with downtime. Support can't seem to fix these issues so we have no choice but to change hosting companies as soon as possible.
Solid hosting environment from Wordpress experts
What do you like best about the product?
WPE shows a commitment to improvement of their platform on a regular basis. Whether through improvments to their portal or the introduction of tools like the Atlas headless CMS, they don't rest on their laurels.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their support desk used to use an industry standard tool which was replaced with their own application. I preferred the legacy tool due to familiarity and user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ease of updating the wordpress core as well as php make staying up to date a low risk proposition. Restore points and the ability to download a snapshot make it easy to roll back if necessary.
Excellent hosting, excellent service
What do you like best about the product?
WPEngine truly does provide world-class hosting. CWS has used its dedicated custom hosting service for years.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've been a customer for a long time and WPE service levels have changed over that time (up and down and up and down). Thankfully we had a copy of our service agreement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before WPEngine, we had a couple of brute force attacks take down our dedicated server (at another host) twice in two weeks. WPEngine helped us onboard and immediately our brute force attack issues ended. WPE's customer support has been super-helpful as well.
WP Engine - What you need for high traffic WordPress site hosting.
What do you like best about the product?
Amazing support. Really truly the best there is. Hooks up to New Relic for performance metrics. One dashboard for many sites. Easy production site / test site / dev site management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nada. These guys rock. A lot. UI is groovy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Site hosting, management, PHP updates all in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just go for it. It is the best. Better than any other site management solution out there.
Solid Wordpress Hosting
What do you like best about the product?
WP Engine support staff is simply the best. I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes to chat with a support agent, and 9/10 times they are able to resolve my issue or question. In the rare case where they need to escalate my ticket, I receive a response within an hour or two. Depending on how complex the issue is, we can usually resolve within several hours.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to use multiple environments (production, staging, development) is great. But depending on your storage plan, it can be very easy to exceed storage limitations. They make it easy to delete these environments to reduce storage usage, but you cannot reuse an environment name when you need to create a new staging or development copy. It's not a big deal, but it can be a little annoying, depending on your workflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The abilities to backup a site on demand, spin up a new environment, and copy between environments are very convenient. So much in fact that I find myself frustrated when using other web hosts that are missing these features.
It's also very comforting to know that WP Engine has our site security in mind at all times. We are constantly receiving alerts when a 3rd party plugin has a vulnerability that needs addressed. This way we can act quickly and resolve the problem before it affects a client site.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
WP Engine is expensive, yes. But if you are willing to spend the extra money, it is well worth every penny for the level of support and confidence their hosting provides.
Great Platform and Great Support
What do you like best about the product?
WPEngine has an excellent portal for managing your Wordpress sites, including the ability to manage and migrate between sites and environments (such as dev, test, staging, etc.). Other hoster's portals are often clunky and complicated, but this is not the case with WPEngine. The support is also exceptional. I'm very technically adept, and usually by the time I have to contact support it is due to a more advanced and complicated issue. This can be frustrating with other support departments since the first and second-tier agents are often not very technical. WPEngine support is refreshingly different as their first-tier agents are very helpful and capable. They have always been able to understand the issue, communicate it efficiently and help me every time I've needed to contact them.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much I dislike about WPEngine. I can honestly say they are easily one of the best hosting platforms I've used (and I've used a lot).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used WPEngine to host our largest websites (~200MM/unique/year) and CMS systems for our flagship products.
WP Engine was a life saver for my company.
What do you like best about the product?
WP Engine support is excellent. They take on small and big tasks and fix the problem while I'm on a support call or chat. They are super responsive and affordable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, their support is complete, and their interface is very intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have nearly 100 websites, and my previous host company was slow and expensive. The backup, SSL certificates and professional guidance make it possible for a small agency like mine to do big things!
Excellent Service from hosting to support
What do you like best about the product?
Fast servers, ability to maintain sites via SFTP and Github, ~100% uptime, user-friendly platform, excellent customer service, free ssl certs, CDN, cache managment
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, I cannot complaint about anything.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All our Wordpress sites are hosted there. It is really easy to spin up new sites and maintain them. Their new SSO feature is awesome. I no longer have to log into all my sites by separate.
The absolute best customer service
What do you like best about the product?
The hosting platform is great and easy to use but the thing that sets WP Engine apart in my mind is the customer service. It is pretty much unmatched in any industry... but especially in the hosting arena. Usually calling a host is the worst part of my day, but calling WP Engine is always a breeze and they are always so friendly and helpful. We try to get all of our clients to let us host them because we know it will be a better experience than any other host out there.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a little pricey. It works well for dev companies but I think most people who are hosting on their own would go elsewhere because they want something less. They don't know how great the service is... but still a bit pricey if you aren't hosting multiple sites.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The backups are wonderful. It's great to know that we have really solid backups at our fingertips if needed. The assistance with issues when we are setting a site live is also VERY valuable to me. And the WP Migration tool takes 95% of the stress out of setting a site live. The only remaining 5% is all on the domain. and when we are lucky enough to be working with a domain that connects with WP Engine, then the go-live process is 100% stress-free.
