Great tool for modern dashboard and sql query editor capabilities.

  • June 30, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best?
Superset has a modern dashboard design and SQL query editor capabilities. I enjoyed creating visually appealing and vivid dashboards. We can connect to different data sources, and it works smoothly while providing an SQL interface.
What do you dislike?
It should have a dashboard/Data export/download in multiple formats like pdf, excel, etc. It should have more capabilities for connecting real-time data sources. It has lacked API support, so it becomes hard to track changes and do version control.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Created multiple dashboards and exposed read only databases to many users with desired access control.

What do you like best?
1. Open box to use
2. Variable data source
3. Basic visual charts
What do you dislike?
1. Limited visual charts
2. Limited docs to explain how to combined with Echarts
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Problem Solved: As a data analyst, I need codeless data visualization tools. Before officially making dashboards, I use superset to demo the draft data idea and findings.

Benefit: quick demo and show

One of the best open source Data Visualization tool in the market

  • June 25, 2021

What do you like best?
Integration with Apache Druid
Strong developer community
What do you dislike?
Some small bugs in very common functionality/features
Documentation is not up to date and is poor
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Data visualization at no license cost. Just deploy on any server and you are good to go.
Best open source tool for visualizing data from Druid.
Easier to get started and works pretty well for most of the needs. Only some very niche features are lacking. But those are absent in a lot of paid tools as well.

What do you like best?
Integrates with your database easily, has a seamlessly easy UI/UX.
If you know SQL, rest is just a play.
What do you dislike?
Not a dislike, but a little guide to begin with would really help the beginners.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We are trying to get an overview of our data in a development friendly way.
It doesn't require developers to code for days and come up with a dashboard,
rather can just write an SQL and get an amazing visualisation.

What do you like best?
The best part of Apache superset is it is easy to visualize even the complex data if you set the parameters correctly. I use to visuallise geo-locations of customers,
What do you dislike?
Nothing major, but i did not find the proper documentation to solve my query. I did trial and error to get the result.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We visualized the geo-locations of customers. It helps in targetting the customers in particular locations.

Great Tool, SQL editor and some UX needs to improve.

What do you like best?
The dashboarding and chart creation is great tool. They have a lot of variety of charts available.

The dashboards can be shared easily with the peer and proper access control to each chart and dashboard is available. This is not a feature available with other open source tools and it is a great form of analysis and data exposure control

The administration of the tool for Lehman has been designed really well. Also the chart that are created all from the chat are made possible and a lot of customizations are been made that are out of the box. Chat detailing and chat customizations do they require some handholding and learning curve once you are used to then a of fairly easy to construct and a lot of variation is possible based on different business needs and requirement of different teams. You can in fact create custom queries and create charts on these custom queries to which is a feature that is not very smooth in many other open source software.
What do you dislike?
The SQL editor snd custom query based visualization is a little suboptimal. The query maker has no station on the possible syntax for SQL also so even for the charts that are selected the column suggestions are are a little slow. The query does not load asynchronously where in first few results could be shown up front and then the query might run in the background today is the time out of the super set that has been set on the complete query in case you're trying to download use bundle of data han is very suboptimal and a lot of time the query actually breaks.

The tool requires a lot of UC update. The UX is very basic and for non tech can get a little overwhelmingly as sum of features are are looking to be very technical in nature. Also even in charts and dashboard the filtering process is not designed in the best way possible. today the chart filtering is a product that has been cracked very well in a lot of other products as well.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Business Intelligence dashboarding, based chart creation and meeting discussions.

The dashboarding is great, and with good caching almost works with expeisive products like Tableau
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would totally recommend Apache superset to be considered as part of your business dashboarding tool. This is great is a common set of data from a data Lake needs to be shared with business and non tech users. Advanced data requirement querying and dashboarding for tech and advanced analytical module may require additional work when using Apache superset.
