Easy to get what you need, flexible enough for custom solutions
What do you like best about the product?
Easy API integration and affordable pricing. From the time we set up a Rollbar account, we were getting basic functionality within a day and a complete replacement for a previous solution within a month.
What do you dislike about the product?
Better Gitlab integration would be a plus but it's already improved over the last year or so.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We replaced an email-based issue tracker with Rollbar for software exception catching. Rollbar's ability to group like issues together has cut down on our email volume tremendously.
Even for a small team, we benefit from Rollbar's project-based approach since we can handle notifications based on the software being used instead of having everything land in one place.

Simple live site monitoring with super powers
What do you like best about the product?
They provide an extremely low bar of entry to add error tracking to your production and staging sites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Issue resolution & long term tracking can be cumbersome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have Rollbar set up across our primary properties' production and staging instances. It's been a life saver identifying system outages before Twitter does and finding buggy code before we deploy it. We can set up a new site in rollbar in less than a minute. And our entire dev team across skill levels instantly understood how to interpret errors and respond to them.
Rollbar has helped us by alerting us to API and integration outages within seconds of the problem occurring. Without their alerts, we would have relied on either a fellow employee or the Twitterverse reporting the issue. They let us avoid all kinds of eggs from hitting our face like we used to have.
We've also folded Rollbar into our continuous delivery system. We can track errors on our staging sites to catch early problems and can easily identify errors that pop up only because code is 1/2 deployed. (and thus that don't require all-hands-on-deck).

I love that Rollbar handles our app exception firehose.
What do you like best about the product?
I like that we can dump all our thousands of errors into rollbar and it alerts and manages resolving for fixing our app errors. I also like that you can track deploys and resolve Rollbar errors with deployed commits.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of our more spammy errors like 404s we've just learned to ignore. But really this is more of a dislike of our own code since we should just quiet those exceptions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have no idea right now how we would intelligently look through all of our exceptions without Rollbar. It's one of the first things that alerts us and during any big deploys we all bring up the Items page to watch any errors in realtime.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It will ease headaches knowing about, tracking down, and resolving exceptions in your live code that you otherwise might not have known were even there.
Easy to implement and use
What do you like best about the product?
Generous free plan, GDPR compliance, and a well-designed REST API.
What do you dislike about the product?
Missing offline-gathering functionality for JavaScript, but I haven't found it in any product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I struggled for months with a customer's application written in some forgotten JS frameworks. Users were furious, and I couldn't reproduce their problems. Rollbar helped me in diagnosing the root cause of these issues.
Simple, easy to use and everything you need
What do you like best about the product?
It is a very intuitive design and give all the resources from error logs to production server monitoring.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think if were to add a feature, I would like to have a mobile app
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Rollbar for server monitoring and error management.
Rollbar is the Alert Station we need it to be
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it alerts for an error, then the 10th error, the 100th error and so on. This allows me to go from seeing an error report to knowing that something big is breaking.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any particular problems with Rollbar - it's a great service and it's perfect at what it does.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I need to know when a major problem has hit the site (in our case, server errors causing the site to crash) and where that problem originated. The stack traces and information available from Rollbar are wonderful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We use Python on our backend and it was a very easy implementation, getting Rollar setup for our site. The free plan is fine but the paid plan is quite affordable and definitely worth it since you get a generous cap on the number of issues you can have monthly. The quality of the integrations is superb and there's nothing in my Rollbar experience that would cause me to look at alternatives.
Simple and efficient to keep track of issues
What do you like best about the product?
Rollbar represents the errors in a form of graphs. You can monitor the number of bug occurrence, the number of affected IPs, the severity of errors, etc. The option of capturing the errors is available. There are a few more which we like:
- Seamless integration with Github to pin point the corresponding code
- Ability to identify user and link with our internal system via session and user agent
- Ability to have team and users
- Ability to assign issues to certain users
- In-dept root cause analysis of the error to resolve it quickly
- Get details like Line of Code, Stack Trace, HTTP information and request data
- Get list of customers facing the issue
- Analyze journey customer took which caused issue
- Acquire list of users affected by an error
- Get number of sessions disrupted by an error
- Get historical insights of issue occurrence
- Track individual issue over period of time
- Manage issue status and issue owner
- Real-time alert (smart & customized) at the time of issue occurrence

What do you dislike about the product?
The projects and environment navigation should be searchable, right now the list is too long if you have many apps.
I could not debug the errors in prod and identify them (environment, description, software, Url, session data, etc.). It helps to understand whether the bug should be fixed or not.
Pricing: Rollbar has a free version (up to 5,000 events per month). Its cost varies according to the required functional – from 49$ up to 599$ per month. The cost is variable based on what you need. We would prefer a simple whole package pricing with discount.

real time bug tracking and notification, then assign the issue to the correct people or team to triage further
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Rollbar APM should support almost all languages and platforms. Their pricing should work with you, we use Rollbar when we were a small startup then grew to a few hundred employees.
Rollbar supports the following languages: Rails, PHP, Python, Angular, iOS, Haskell, Ruby, Node.js, Django, Drupal, Clojure, etc.

It works but it’s kinda expensive
What do you like best about the product?
Source code preview
error grouping
telemetry
error grouping
telemetry
What do you dislike about the product?
pricing per occurrences is quite annoying
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it’s nice to see errors so quickly
Recommendations to others considering the product:
try not to generate too many errors
Gives you what you need
What do you like best about the product?
Out of the box, rollbar does a good job of presenting errors in a human-digestible manner. It makes sure that 100 of the same error is properly packaged and presented as "this error, 100 times" rather than 100 CTAs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found it challenging to set up specific identifiers for hosts / application instances, so that it wasn't always clear which instance of our application had generated an error. User identification works out of the box which is nice, but I was less successful with application instance identification.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used rollbar for error reporting across a multi-instance cloud-hosted SaaS platform. It makes errors much more visible, and the site tools make it much easier to correlate errors to deploys.
A must for all developers
What do you like best about the product?
Catch errors even if you don't see them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not easy to control the rate-limiting which can cause a lot of errors (and a higher bill) if things are going wrong.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's way faster to find out issues and fix them.
