Reliable Secure File Transfers with a Learning Curve

  • March 26, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like GoAnywhere MFT for its centralized design, which allows me to track file transfers easily. The auditable track of transfers lets me see what's coming and going, which is really handy. I also appreciate the 'one pane of glass' feature because it means I don't need to remote into various servers to view file movements. Plus, the automation is helpful for setting this up.
What do you dislike about the product?
It took some time to work out my way around the user experience and it was a little bit of a learning curve for me to set it up. There was some learning curve to get it setup and make my way around the design, but nothing that was too big of an obstacle that I would say I wouldn't recommend.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use GoAnywhere MFT for secure file transfers internally and externally, relying on its centralized design to efficiently track file movements without needing to access multiple servers. Its automation features simplify setup, allowing me to safely manage data transfers across platforms.

  • March 25, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like GoAnywhere MFT's audit logs, which help with traceability and compliance. The workflow automation is great because it cuts down the need for manual intervention in file transfers and does away with the reliance on custom scripts. I also appreciate the support for multiple file transfer protocols like SFTP, FTPS, HTTP, and AS2, which adds to its versatility. Plus, it secures my files, making me feel confident that they are protected during transfers.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing of GoAnywhere MFT is on the higher side. Plus, the UI could use some slight changes to feel more modern. I also think there is a potential security risk if it's not configured properly due to human error. Some aspects of the initial setup can be difficult. It was a bit complex, honestly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use GoAnywhere MFT to automate secure file transfers and encryption, solving sharing sensitive files with vendors and internally, reducing manual work, and improving compliance.

Reliable and secure file transfer with strong automation

  • March 23, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how GoAnywhere MFT brings everything into one place and makes secure file transfers simple and well organized. It gives strong control and visibility, so we can easily track where data comes from, how it moves, and where it goes, which really helps in daily operations. The automation through projects and workflows saves a lot of time, especially when handling large volumes of files or daily reports, and it reduces manual errors. The security features like encryption, multi-factor authentication, and support for protocols like SFTP and HTTPS make it reliable for compliance needs. It also integrates well with platforms like SharePoint and other cloud tools, acting as a smooth middleware solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
One challenge with GoAnywhere MFT is that the initial implementation can feel complex for enterprise-level setups, often requiring dedicated IT involvement to configure everything properly. Customer support can sometimes be slow or less hands-on when dealing with more advanced or specific issues, which can delay resolution. Also, while the tool is powerful, many of its features are not used frequently in day to day operations, making it feel like we are not fully utilizing its capabilities compared to its overall cost and potential.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GoAnywhere MFT solves the problem of managing large volumes of file transfers in a secure, structured, and automated way, which was earlier time-consuming and prone to manual errors. Before using it, handling daily file movements across systems and departments required constant monitoring and coordination, increasing the risk of mistakes and delays. With automation through workflows and projects, these transfers now run smoothly without manual intervention, saving significant time and effort. It also addresses security and compliance concerns by providing encryption, controlled access, and detailed tracking of every transfer, giving full visibility into where data is coming from and going. As a result, operations feel more organized, reliable, and scalable, while reducing dependency on manual processes and improving overall efficiency.

Centralized automation has streamlined secure file transfers and supports compliance needs

  • March 23, 2026
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

My main use cases for GoAnywhere MFT involve securing and managing file transfers across internal systems, cloud platforms, and external customers. I use it to automate SFTP, HTTPS workflow, data encryption, and compliance-driven file exchange, ensuring that we have reliable and auditable transfers with multi-customer environments.

What is most valuable?

What I appreciate most about GoAnywhere MFT is its centralized automation of file transfer workflows with strong support for SFTP, HTTPS, APIs, and cloud integration. We also value the built-in security features, such as encryption, auditing, role-based access, and easy scheduling and orchestration, making it very effective for managing secure and compliant transfers across our multiple customers.

What needs improvement?

One area of improvement in GoAnywhere MFT is the UI/UX, which can feel less intuitive for managing complex workflows and large job volumes. Additionally, the advanced monitoring, alerting, and cloud-native integration could be enhanced for better support of modern operations and scalability in modern environments.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with this solution for over three years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Currently, I have not seen any instability with GoAnywhere MFT, as it is a stable product. However, as we onboard more users, it sometimes lags, which may be due to resource limitations or the cloud side since we have deployed it in AWS.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I find that GoAnywhere MFT is scalable. We have deployed it on one of our LOBs, tested it, and are rolling it out to different LOBs without any disturbances. It is stable, so it is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I have had to contact the technical support of GoAnywhere MFT, and I find the support team is very knowledgeable and responsive. We usually get responses very fast, and the documentation is good. On a scale from one to ten, I would give the support a score of nine.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Earlier we used legacy FTP tool solutions like IBM Sterling File Gateway, but we switched to GoAnywhere MFT because we needed centralized management, stronger compliance, and easier workflow automation. We moved to GoAnywhere MFT, which provides everything we need.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment of GoAnywhere MFT is generally moderately complex, especially when configuring users, workflows, policies, and integrations across environments. The basic installation is straightforward. However, the advanced configurations require time and have a learning curve for new users.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the pricing of GoAnywhere MFT, I would say it is quite on the higher side, but considering the features offered, it is worth the money.

What other advice do I have?

We use connectors included in GoAnywhere MFT, specifically Dynamics. I find the connectors are very useful for data transfer and help us integrate with other vendors as well.

We have used GoAnywhere Agents in one of our LOBs and are currently in the phase of testing it. Once it is tested and we are satisfied, we will roll it out to the other LOBs as well.

We have used Secure Forms in GoAnywhere MFT, specifically the custom-made form. The Secure Forms feature allows end users to fill out and submit information online through secure custom-made forms with one or more input values, and we use it to control the data that end users provide while submitting information. I would give this review an overall rating of nine.

Centralized, Secure File Transfers with Powerful Workflow Control

  • March 20, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What stands out for me is the control it gives over file transfers. I can set up workflows, schedule them, and monitor everything from one place instead of managing multiple tools. It also handles encryption and supports different transfer methods, so we don’t have to worry about data security while moving files.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup is not difficult, but it does take time to get everything right, especially when dealing with permissions and connections. The interface could also feel more modern, and working with large logs sometimes takes longer than expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Earlier, our team depended on manual processes and small scripts for file movement, which were hard to track and often failed. Now everything runs through one system with proper logging and alerts. It has reduced errors, improved visibility, and made it easier for us to manage compliance and day-to-day operations.

Automation has simplified secure file transfers and supports nontechnical users effectively

  • March 09, 2026
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

I have spent mostly one year of experience with GoAnywhere MFT, primarily in automation. Automation is what I appreciate most because we have approximately 20 to 30 customers who rely on automation since they prefer not to perform manual work. The automation capabilities in GoAnywhere MFT have made a significant difference for our customers.

After joining my organization, I spent nearly six months in training where I examined GoAnywhere MFT cases and issues. I did not solve them initially; instead, I observed my teammates and learned what they were doing and how they were fixing issues. After completing my training in GoAnywhere MFT, my main focus became GoAnywhere MFT exclusively. Following my training completion, I was promoted to associate engineer in emerging technology. I have now completed approximately one year of experience with GoAnywhere MFT.

In my organization, we have two or three products that work primarily with managed file transfer protocol, similar to GoAnywhere MFT. When I compare GoAnywhere MFT with those other products, I would say that GoAnywhere MFT is a very simple and very reliable product for my customers who are already using it. Since my customers are not technical, they want a very simple and convenient interface for use. There are other products in the market that we also use, but I would rate GoAnywhere MFT as an eight out of ten when compared to others.

We primarily use HTTPS and SFTP protocols. We mainly use SFTP because our customers use HTTPS, SFTP, and FTPS. They are using those three protocols and my workflows and work are conducted within these protocols only.

What is most valuable?

I have spent mostly one year of experience with GoAnywhere MFT, primarily in automation. Automation is what I appreciate most because we have approximately 20 to 30 customers who rely on automation since they prefer not to perform manual work. The automation capabilities in GoAnywhere MFT have made a significant difference for our customers.

Since my customers are not technical, they want a very simple and convenient interface for use. There are other products in the market that we also use, but I would rate GoAnywhere MFT as an eight out of ten when compared to others.

During this one year of experience, I gained exposure to more products, including Secure Form, which behaves as a secure form in GoAnywhere MFT. Those products are also similar, but because of GoAnywhere MFT's secure form, I can say in simple terms that they are very simple and very easy to understand. Any of our customers can easily understand how to use it and how to securely form any type of information they want for their users. I can confidently say that Secure Form is also a very good feature of GoAnywhere MFT that our users are utilizing.

What needs improvement?

Recently, two or three customers, including some very valuable customers, faced a scheduler failed issue. In the past one week, they experienced issues where their schedulers failed in the evening in GoAnywhere MFT. After raising a case, approximately two weeks passed, but we did not receive a response to our email. Their response time for these types of cases is somewhat low.

Previously, GoAnywhere MFT was sold as a subscription-based product permanently. However, they recently made changes to GoAnywhere MFT to perpetual plans. We have 30 to 50 customers, and they must take a plan for a perpetual arrangement on a yearly basis. They must take a subscription for GoAnywhere MFT to use it. Previously, customers only had to make a one-time payment to use GoAnywhere MFT.

I preferred the previous deal when GoAnywhere MFT was sold as a one-time payment with permanent subscription-based access. They changed to perpetual plans, and this type of change is not appreciated by our customers. I notice this because I work in the technical department, primarily handling technical issues and tackling implementation, scheduling, automation, bug fixes, logs, and maintenance.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with GoAnywhere MFT for approximately one year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Determining scalability requirements is difficult. In the initial phase, we must confirm what the customer needs. First, we must understand what the customer wants, including how many users they want to securely transfer files to. After understanding those requirements, we must think about how many MFT instances we require and how many Gateways we need to configure because load balancing is also required, as too many users can cause issues.

I can provide an example from approximately two or three days ago when one customer faced an issue. They have two MFTs and two Gateways. With two MFTs and two Gateways, they have 500 users and 5,000 automations and schedulers. What they experienced was that approximately in the evening from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, one cluster automatically restarted because of maintenance or a patch activity on the AWS machine. After that activity, their cluster one stopped, and the second one remained working. However, GoAnywhere MFT started behaving anomalously in a very strange way. Their scheduler got stuck, and they had to manually run the schedulers. Automations of schedulers were not working, and they faced this type of issue two or three days ago. I am currently working on that issue.

We fixed this issue by restarting those MFTs in parallel, after which it resolved. This was necessary because the customer is paying for the service.

How are customer service and support?

Our organization is a partner of Fortra, which is the GoAnywhere MFT product company. We are a partner of that company and we serve mostly Indian users. When customers raise any issue, case, or problem they are facing, they first contact us. After that, we raise the case to Fortra. There is a cycle we must follow for any resolution of issues they are experiencing, any feature requests, or any bugs they encounter. Because of that process, two or three days have already passed, but Fortra did not reply to us regarding why this happened and how we should remediate this in the future.

For support on small tasks, small issues, or simple queries, Fortra responds within one or two days. However, for this type of issue, they might take approximately one or two weeks. Sometimes they do not even provide us with a reply. We have to remind them about the case two or three times, and it might take three weeks.

I also have another example related to a support case issue. One of our other customers, HCL, a very large organization, faced some CVE vulnerabilities in their system. They received two vulnerabilities from their security team, and we had to check with Fortra regarding when they got fixed or whether this CVE was a type of issue they were addressing. We raised a case with Fortra, and they took approximately two months to provide a proper report for that CVE. For this type of response, our customer became very disappointed because they are paying substantial money to us and Fortra. I believe that for this type of case, Fortra should reply to us and resolve this type of case as soon as possible.

Out of 10 for support cases of this type, I would rate it as five. By comparing with others, I can say five or maybe 5.5, not more than that.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What other advice do I have?

GoAnywhere MFT is the primary product we use. We do not use GoFast. We only use GoAnywhere MFT and GoAnywhere Gateway. Most of our customers only use those two products. My overall review rating for GoAnywhere MFT is eight out of ten.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Amazon Web Services (AWS)
