What do you like best about the product?
Works great, robust functionalities for what it's designed to do.
What do you dislike about the product?
1st: Can be cumbersome to use if the level of script technicalites, esp. with custom expressions, is not enough with the administrator.

2nd point: Also, not GUI (graphical user interface) enough when comes to troubleshooting during emergencys. Ask oneself, why does it need a prebuilt or take time to build a module script step before you can visualize the folder structure on the connected side, or to quickly make a simple COPY or MOVE, etc.??

3rd point: I hear at one time there was a feature where multiple tabs can hold its own unique session if user were wanting to say, open one project on one chrome tab, and another project on another chrome tab, and compare script steps or edit/modify by learning to visualize one with another. But some time back, this feature was removed, because if you try to do this, some time passes and the one of the tab will refresh to make it the same as the other, hence only 1 tab, or project is only allowed. Currently, the HELP function enables a dedicated open tab and holds that. Why can't this apply when having to visualize one project mft script versus another?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scheduling automation, monitoring, sending large sensitive information files, and differing formats so the added key management system and all it's security features are essential benefits.

Excellent all-around platform for data sharing

What do you like best about the product?
I think that the customizations available to you within each data sharing project provide you with everything you need to share out your enterprise data with trusted partners safely and securely.
What do you dislike about the product?
Infrequently, there will be changes in our currently configured data sharing sources that will fail with no discernible reason. Those require troubleshooting between us and our partners to resolve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to share out custom data extracts easily with multiple vendors via encrypted folders and secure transport protocols.

Effortless setup with excellent support ensures seamless file transfers

What is our primary use case?

The use cases would be to transfer files and send files of large sizes.

How has it helped my organization?

We have not yet collaborated with third parties. We might see benefits in the future when we have SharePoint.

What is most valuable?

Fortra's GoAnywhere MFT is easy to use, easy to set up, and the support is good.

What needs improvement?

I am not able to go in and say 'forgot password.' I need to access the admin portal to change the password from there. I would like to be able to do MFA and reset the password via email.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used GoAnywhere for less than a year. April will mark one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We hardly have any issues with lagging, crashing, or downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. We utilize it minimally, and it seems easy to scale up.

How are customer service and support?

Their customer service is good, with decent support. They get back to us within a day with answers. Their documentation is also very helpful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used standard MFT, FileZilla, and just FTP protocol within Windows Server. We switched as we were concerned about security and wanted ease of use and setup.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment was easy. It took us just a couple of days to fully set up.

What about the implementation team?

We used Fortra's implementation team since it came with the package. We had to purchase eight hours of implementation time. From our end, mainly one person was involved in the deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is too expensive for what we need. If we could cut it by 50%, that would be great.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at other solutions, however, it was time-consuming, and since Fortra's offers very good products, we did not pursue other options further.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution for secure transfer and easy setup. Despite the pricing, it is a reliable product.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Seamless connectivity, good usability, and knowledgeable support

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use it for FTP purposes, sending files in and out within the corporation and through third-party vendors, both inbound and outbound.

How has it helped my organization?

It has been pretty seamless and straightforward for connectivity between my company and a third party. It is one of the easier aspects of using the product.

I could see its benefits after some time. That is because it was self-taught. I learned the functionality, the usability, and all the features as I went along by reading the help functions. There are probably still a lot of features that I have not yet used or know about.

What is most valuable?

The usability is valuable because I am self-taught and have not had any formal training in the product. The help feature is quite handy.

What needs improvement?

The biggest weakness I have seen in the product is scheduling. It is very limited in that aspect. It needs more flexibility and more ways to schedule. It is very strict with no customization options. The monitors are limited in how you can set them up.

Handling errors is challenging as errors are hard to understand. The help guide does not cover error messages well. It is Java-based, so it is hard to understand Java error messages.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for about four or five years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced any lagging or crashing.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have not used it to a high level of scalability. What we are running currently is what was installed by a previous manager, and it has been used for about six to seven years without issues.

How are customer service and support?

They are very responsive and very knowledgeable. I would rate them a nine out of ten. Sometimes, they are hard to reach by phone. I get placed on hold for a long time, and I usually hang up and call later in the day or the following day. That is the only down thing I can think about in terms of support. They are hard to get hold of sometimes.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used FileZilla, which is freeware. We have also used WinSCP.

FileZilla is just a simple point-to-point file transfer, whereas GoAnywhere has way more features.

How was the initial setup?

I did not install it in our environment. Another person who is not with the company anymore installed it. I came into play after it was fully installed and configured.

My initial onboarding was difficult for me because it required some level of programming which I am not savvy with. Initially, I reached out to tech support due to the cryptic errors that I was getting.

I do not use it on a daily basis or a full-time basis. It took about a year to be comfortable with it. I am still learning as I go along. There are still times when I wonder how to do something. I am still learning it, but it took me a good decent year to get acclimated to it.

In terms of maintenance, there is patching that comes out almost every month. It is pretty easy to download and apply the patch. It is pretty quick and painless.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate GoAnywhere MFT an eight out of ten. I have not had any formal training on it. I would love that opportunity. Until then, it is self-learning.

What do you like best about the product?
We trust GoAnywhere to move critical files between systems. To date, it has included all of the features we've needed. We haven't used the product to its fullest potential, but are very impressed with it so far. It is fairly easy to learn, and we are happy customers!
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience the lines are blurred when it comes to support. Project assistance is not covered under normal support. There are occasional errors that we have needed to resolve on our own, which it time consuming. The support documentation could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to consolidate and further secure our file transfers that were previously being managed and monitored on costly servers.

What do you like best about the product?
GoAnywhere is an extremly rich and powerful suite with a bunch of different features that are useful in our day to day business needs. It provided everything we needed and more and allowed us to utilize and advance our goals with different automations that we setup for easier day to day function. While a complex product there is a lot of documentation to read up on and if worst came to worst we could always reach out and create a ticket. Overall a really good product.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downside that we struck with GoAnwhere was just the learning curve. There are a lot of different features that took a little bit of time to comprehend besides the basic ftp/sftp etc. The flow takes a little bit of learning and time just solely because of how feature rich and in depth it is. Overall, a great product but probably not suited for the average common user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replaced our old and outdated solution.

Our company faced significant challenges in ensuring the secure transfer of sensitive client data. We frequently exchange large volumes of confidential information, such as financial statements and personal identification details, with our clients and partners. Ensuring the security of these transfers, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and having a reliable audit trail were our primary concerns. Prior to implementing GoAnywhere MFT, we relied on a combination of ad-hoc methods and legacy systems that were not only cumbersome but also lacked the necessary security features and comprehensive audit capabilities.

What do you like best about the product?
It has so many features and the ability to meet any need for file transfers of any type and protocol.
Customer service is excellent from the Sales team and Technical Support team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be somewhat complicated to configure the work flows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a large School District, we needed to transfer files that contain PII and GoAnywhere was able to check all the boxes for us in the secure file tranfers.

What do you like best about the product?
GoAnywhere is great for modernizing connections between business partners. The PGP Encryption is very easy to use. The testing of a Resource is extremely helpful, along with testing while inside of a Workflow Project. You don't have to guess about your partners folder names. The actual "writing" of workflow projects is very easy (mostly drag & drop) and if you use your variables well, promotion from test to production is a snap. GA MFT fits well between JDE, the AS400, and Windows servers. The customizable dashboard gives a great picture into what is working and what needs help.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have many dislikes about GA MFT. At first there was a learning curve and it didn't seem to be as friendly as my old dos scripting that I had used for 8 years prior, but once I learned all the little tricks and nuances, I saw how powerful it could be.

The main thing for newcomers is learning the little tricks and nuances and I am not so sure that the customer support or the internet usually gets me to where I need to get when learning something new.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One stop tool for start to finish with encryption and SFTP. Much easier than my old tools.
