Automated student data transfers have improved efficiency but pricing and user limitations require attention

  • November 21, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am an IT department head in my college, and I use GoAnywhere MFT to send student marksheets and records to Anna University. When students are placed at top companies, those companies request a verification process, and we send our student data via GoAnywhere MFT during this time. GoAnywhere MFT is used to automate student records to the universities. Whenever a new file or new student data is inserted, it automatically checks and sends it to the university and reports back to me. If I want to send student data to any top companies, I do this manually, and this represents most of the use cases in our college.

I use GoAnywhere MFT to send files most of the time, and I consider those connectors. Whenever we want to connect our student data with cloud services without writing code, we integrate it at that time. This is actually a good feature and a wonderful feature. We are currently maintaining our data on a database only, but if I want to move into the cloud, we will use these connectors very easily. This is the greatest benefit.

Student data is very crucial to both the college and students, so if the file format is right, the encrypted PDF is connected to SFTP and uploads safely. It also generates a receipt and emails it back to me, so in this way the data is encrypted and sent, making it very secure.

I use that automation, and in our college, we have the My Camu app. If any student currently enters or edits his data and uploads it to that app, it will be saved into my folder, and I will check it through GoAnywhere MFT. If any new file or folder arrives, it encrypts it and sends it to the universities and reviews me about the status of the file, whether it is sent or received, or what the university said about it. This is the automation that I use here.

What is most valuable?

The automation is my favorite feature. If I declare it once, I do not want to do it or repeat it manually. If I want to fix it, it will automatically check if there are any new files currently entering. If any new file is entered, it automatically sends, encrypts, and sends it to the destinations and automatically notifies me back. This is the greatest feature I like. Whenever a student has uploaded his or her data on our website, it is automatically sent to the universities, and no manual work is needed anymore, so I appreciate this as the best feature in GoAnywhere MFT.

What needs improvement?

I struggled initially while setting the automation process, and at that time I needed customer support. There is live chat available, and phone support is also available. We can also email them, so through live chat I asked my questions and they cleared them, providing good technical support.

The pricing is somewhat high, and if they reduce their pricing, then more colleges can use it. This is the major concern, as this is one significant problem. They provide the first five users free, but beyond that, they do not offer free access for certain modules. If they increase that, then users will use it more, and they will begin to wish to use it permanently.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Sometimes it loads with high demand, and at that time I wondered why it was experiencing this. When thinking about the stability, I believe it is good, and I can give it seven out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The pricing is somewhat high, and if they reduce their pricing, then more colleges can use it. This is the major concern, as this is one significant problem. They provide the first five users free, but beyond that, they do not offer free access for certain modules. If they increase that, then users will use it more, and they will begin to wish to use it permanently.

How are customer service and support?

I struggled initially while setting the automation process, and at that time I needed customer support. There is live chat available, and phone support is also available. We can also email them, so through live chat I asked my questions and they cleared them, providing good technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Installation is the easiest thing. We can do it via the guidelines provided, and there are good guidelines. By following them, we can easily install it, and there are no more difficulties, but we have to carefully set up the environment for it.

What was our ROI?

Usually, for each student uploaded, we charge 150 rupees for a university transformation. If we are sending any document for their working profession or to companies, then we charge up to 500 to 1,000 rupees per transaction.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is somewhat high, and if they reduce their pricing, then more colleges can use it. This is the major concern, as this is one significant problem. They provide the first five users free, but beyond that, they do not offer free access for certain modules. If they increase that, then users will use it more, and they will begin to wish to use it permanently.

What other advice do I have?

We are the client using GoAnywhere MFT at our college. Currently, I support GoAnywhere MFT, and I can refer it to many people to use it. As it is useful for our college, it may also be useful for many colleges, startups, and services. I give this product an overall rating of seven out of ten.

Automating secure workflows has been smooth but the interface needs an update

  • November 17, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My use cases for GoAnywhere MFT are automating and securing file transfer workflows.

What is most valuable?

What I appreciate most about GoAnywhere MFT is the SFTP file transfer capability, which is a secure file transfer protocol. It also includes a file encryption module, scheduling, and email notification features, which are very useful. GoAnywhere MFT does not require any maintenance on my end; it is all being taken care of by the developers.

What needs improvement?

One area where they could improve GoAnywhere MFT is the UI, as it feels outdated.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for about six to twelve months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not seen any instability or issues with stability in GoAnywhere MFT, but I mentioned that the UI feels outdated.

How are customer service and support?

I have contacted their customer support, but they are quite busy and reply in approximately three to four days. The quality of their support for GoAnywhere MFT was not as they mentioned on their website; it was supposed to be 24/7, but they are taking two to three days to reply to my emails. I messaged them three to four times, but they are consistently late in responding.

When they did answer, the quality of their responses was good, but the response time was not satisfactory. They advertise 24/7 support and response within 24 hours, but they are taking at least two days to reply.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I switched from Salesforce Workflow to GoAnywhere MFT.

How was the initial setup?

When I first started using GoAnywhere MFT, it was very easy. I watched a video tutorial on YouTube and it took me approximately 23 minutes to fully understand how to use GoAnywhere MFT. After that, I did not need any additional explanation.

What other advice do I have?

We are not using the included connectors in GoAnywhere MFT right now; I mentioned that we were using them before, but I am not using them currently. I do use the Agents in GoAnywhere MFT. The review which I wrote on G2 about this was based on my usage of this software approximately three to four months prior, but I am not using it currently.

I have never used features in GoAnywhere MFT such as Secure Forms, GoFast, or Agents; I only use the SFTP transfer protocol. Leaving the support aside, I would rate GoAnywhere MFT 7 out of 10. If I were to rate only the support, I would give them a 5 out of 10.

Smooth MFT trial with impressive features and support

  • November 09, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I had the opportunity to evaluate GoAnywhere MFT through a trial license provided by the GoAnywhere sales team after a short call to discuss my use case. The setup was smooth and straightforward, with clear documentation that made implementation easy even for a first-time user. I explored the platform for almost 1 month, including an extended period to complete my evaluation and a short proof of concept (POC) for secure data transfer scenarios.

During my evaluation, I frequently used GoAnywhere for testing various workflows and integrations. I explored several key capabilities — Advanced Workflows, secure file transfers (SFTP/FTPS/HTTPS), user management, encryption, scheduling and detailed audit reporting. The interface felt intuitive, making it simple to build, automate and monitor workflows from a single dashboard.

One thing that really stood out was the Cloud Connector Marketplace. I installed the Salesforce Connector directly from within the platform and it took less than five minutes — no external downloads or complex setup required. Everything is managed within the environment, which makes it extremely convenient. There are also many other connectors available for applications like AWS, Jira, Trello and Google Cloud Storage, expanding integration possibilities significantly.

The customer support experience was excellent. The team was quick to respond whenever I encountered an issue and even extended my trial period to ensure I could complete my testing comfortably.

Overall, GoAnywhere MFT provides an impressive mix of security, automation and integration features. My hands-on experience gave me a clear understanding of its capabilities and how it can support our future requirements for secure and automated data movement across systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about GoAnywhere MFT. I evaluated the platform for almost a month using a trial license and found its features and functionalities impressive. From Advanced Workflows and secure file transfers to the intuitive Cloud Connector Marketplace, everything worked seamlessly. I look forward to exploring more of its capabilities for future automation and integration needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
During my trial evaluation of GoAnywhere MFT, I was able to see how it addresses critical challenges in secure and automated file transfers. The platform centralizes workflows, provides robust encryption and offers detailed audit logging, which could significantly reduce errors and ensure compliance. Features like Advanced Workflows, scheduling and the Cloud Connector Marketplace, including Salesforce and other popular integrations demonstrated how easily data can be moved and connected across systems. Even in a trial environment, it was clear that GoAnywhere MFT can streamline operations, simplify integrations and support future requirements for secure and efficient data management.

Has improved secure file transfers for candidate data and highlights a need for a simpler interface and faster support

  • November 04, 2025
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

We have been using GoAnywhere MFT in my company, Manadomy Integration Private Limited. We are directly connected with college and school candidates, and we are also connected with corporate clients. We take assessments of different college students and provide them a tag of job-ready candidates. After that, we send the candidate reports to our partner corporate clients. This is the overview of our company.

GoAnywhere MFT performs automation jobs at 7:00 PM daily. It fetches a CSV file from our database server, which is a report of different candidate reports that we have created for job-ready candidates. GoAnywhere MFT fetches these details from our database server and encrypts the file using PGP encryption. With secure file transfer, it is sent to the corporate designated folder. After the completion of this process, both the corporate and we receive a notification via email. This is the overall flow that we use for GoAnywhere MFT.

What is most valuable?

GoAnywhere MFT shows us the successful transfers and which files are successfully transferred and which are the failed deliveries at the end when the transfer is completed. It also shows the historical logs for all the compliances such as GDPR compliances. We learned that a few files were failed deliveries, so we needed to send them again. All of this work is done by GoAnywhere MFT through automation process.

I personally appreciate the security purpose with its end-to-end encryption for both our candidates and our clients. We build trust with this software because corporates receive our verified data, which is encrypted candidate data.

With GoAnywhere MFT, we simply submit our data, which is in text form sometimes and sometimes in file form. We upload our resumes, and as we are directly connected with our candidates, the college candidates, we upload the resumes, reports, and invoices of the documents, and we send it securely to our organization and to our CEO. The form simply consists of the name, email, and the messages related to those documents.

The first thing that concerns us most is the security purpose. We have directly used that and we are happy with the security features. It is simple to use for us because we are experienced users, but for new users, it is somewhat complex to use. After using it for a year, it is acceptable for us and we are able to use it well. The security purpose and the sharing of files work well for me.

What needs improvement?

In GoAnywhere MFT, I have sometimes faced situations where we share a large number of files and encounter more failed deliveries. I need to send them to our clients again and again. The admin console is also somewhat complex for new users because in our training team, there are a few new hirings. They find it somewhat complex for new users, so the interface should be much simpler for new users as well. The workflow which we have created is time-consuming. I believe some drag-and-drop kind of UI should be added to make it smoother. I have faced this kind of situation, so I thought that it would be good if improvements could be made for that.

Regarding the technical support of GoAnywhere MFT, I remember four or five months ago, I was facing some technical issues. I am not directly connected with them over a call, but I wrote an email. The solution given to me was provided between five to six days. I believe it could be done sooner, so that would be better.

GoAnywhere MFT's support response time can be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for one year, maybe one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding the stability of GoAnywhere MFT, I rate it a seven. It is stable according to my experience.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Regarding scalability, I would rate it a nine. It is scalable. My requirements are met with its scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I do not believe I am the right person to answer regarding cost because this is totally up to our business and our sales team. GoAnywhere MFT saves a lot of time, approximately thirty to forty percent.

I would rate the support of GoAnywhere MFT as six out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

GoAnywhere MFT is our first software we have used for the transferring of files because before that we used to do that manually. I cannot compare it with any other software because I have not used any other since now.

How was the initial setup?

Regarding deployment, GoAnywhere MFT takes two to three days.

What about the implementation team?

Approximately four to six users work with GoAnywhere MFT.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the pricing of GoAnywhere MFT, it is somewhat expensive, I feel. Not that much expensive, but our business team has explored other softwares as well, though I personally have not explored the other softwares. According to our invoices about this software, we have a one-year subscription for it. The price is somewhat high, but it is acceptable. It does our job well, so we do not have any problem with the pricing, but it could be slightly lower.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

GoAnywhere MFT was not purchased through the AWS Marketplace. I believe it was directly purchased, though I am not entirely sure about this because it was totally handled by our sales team.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend GoAnywhere MFT. We have already recommended it to a few colleagues who work elsewhere. The file sharing is very secure, and we have not felt any security hazards and we have not faced any security concerns regarding the same. I have shared this recommendation with a few of my colleagues as well.

GoAnywhere MFT requires some updates in my opinion. It is easy to update GoAnywhere MFT and it is not that much complex.

I would rate the solution overall as six out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Managing client connections and user workflows has become more organized though handling certificates needs separation from the main interface

  • September 12, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Before GoAnywhere MFT, it was called Moveit. I used Moveit for one institution. I have been in the financial world for most of my MFT period. After Moveit was upgraded to GoAnywhere MFT, I used it from the front end, meaning I was the person who would take a client, trade partner, customer, and gather all the necessary requirements to make a connection, do all the UAT, create the users. I handled anything related to the front end with GoAnywhere MFT and Moveit. I have been on the administrative side, and depending on what was necessary, I worked a little bit on the back end with firewalls and similar tasks.

What is most valuable?

Out of all the products I have used for file transfer MFT, GoAnywhere MFT is the easiest because everything is essentially in one place. It is one suite where creating users, passwords, scripting, everything is consolidated. You do not have to go to different areas to find something. GoAnywhere MFT is the easiest one I have seen so far.

What needs improvement?

I have been on IBM Sterling Integrator, Sterling File Gateway, Moveit, Gentran, and five different MFT tools, and GoAnywhere MFT has the easiest interface because everything is consolidated. You do not have to go to different screens to accomplish tasks. Though it is not perfect, based on my 10 years of experience, they have the easiest interface. Regarding potential improvements, the security side, particularly when dealing with keys and certificates, could be in a different suite rather than built directly into the main interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used GoAnywhere MFT for about a year when I was with Tech Systems working with several banks. In total, I have used MFT products for 10 years now, primarily working with Sterling.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced any lagging, crashing, or stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability aspects are typically handled by architects and developers. As an administrator, I work in the middle and am not directly involved with architectural decisions.

How are customer service and support?

I probably contacted technical support during the initial part of the process, but I do not specifically recall those interactions.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What about the implementation team?

The deployment process requires a team. It is not a one-person project. I have never been involved in projects that were handled by just one person.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate GoAnywhere MFT a seven out of ten because while it is the easiest solution to use, no product is perfect.

Understanding and implementing with ease, while AI chat support for quick assistance is suggested

  • September 02, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am still trying to figure out my use cases for GoAnywhere MFT as I am still learning how to use it and determining the best way to utilize the software.

What needs improvement?

What I can suggest right now about GoAnywhere MFT is the integration of AI for chat support, as I am still trying to find my way around the app. I would appreciate seeing an AI assistant for GoAnywhere MFT. For a first-time user, instead of struggling to learn how to use it independently, you could ask, 'GoAnywhere MFT bot, can you help me with this? Can you help me with that? How do I do this? How do I do that?' Just quick, on-the-spot assistance.

I feel everything that is there is sufficient. I do not think there is a need to add anything. People always say there is always room for improvement, but for me, it is enough, so it does not appear that everything is clashing. I feel there is nothing to improve right now. However, as time progresses, perhaps because of innovation and new technology, they will find new things to implement. The only thing I believe they should implement is what I mentioned about the assistant, where users can ask questions and get answers immediately.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using GoAnywhere MFT about a week ago, having seen the review, so I just registered for the review. It has not been more than a week since I began using it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not seen any lagging, crashing, downtime, or any sort of instability with GoAnywhere MFT. By now I would have complained about that.

How are customer service and support?

The user interface is fine. I do not know if they have integrated any chat support or chatbot where you can ask quick questions and get answers within 24 hours. For me, the user interface is understandable; it is not something that required extensive effort to use. I am the type of person that, if I have an issue, I search on YouTube or Google or ask ChatGPT, 'How do I understand this better?' It is not difficult for me, but I feel a 24-hour chatbot would be beneficial instead of using external resources.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have never used any other alternatives to GoAnywhere MFT.

How was the initial setup?

The initial installation for GoAnywhere MFT was easy for me because I could use YouTube, so it was straightforward to follow and implement. However, not every first-time user might find it easy. For me, it was not so difficult.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding GoAnywhere MFT's pricing, I think it is quite affordable since it was subscribed for me by my boss.

What other advice do I have?

The main reason behind getting GoAnywhere MFT was that it was recommended to me by my boss, so I am still trying to learn how to use it. It is software that was recommended for me to learn; to learn how to use, find out the details of the whole software, how it works, and implement it because I work as a full-stack developer.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the highest, I rate GoAnywhere MFT a seven. I am just a user of GoAnywhere MFT; I do not have any partnerships with them. I have no problem if the GoAnywhere MFT team wants to contact me if they have any questions about this review. I am always available and okay with being a reference for GoAnywhere MFT, which allows their marketing department to contact me later.

Implementation simplifies secure file transfers but requires 24/7 support improvements

  • August 11, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

With the use case for GoAnywhere MFT, I was setting it up to be similar to the use case that I have for Globalscape because with this MFT-based solution, everything is about creating users since it is all tool-based. The product has all the features, including administrations, where we need to create the users. We need to create users' event rules to take the files and upload them to the destination, push the files, and handle reporting and everything. Most of the steps will be the same, except for a couple of things.

What is most valuable?

The best features of GoAnywhere MFT so far, from what I've seen, is that it is a light version. For just the purpose of uploading and pushing the files, transferring the files is the main objective. That's where we use GoAnywhere MFT, because it is a very light version, and the price is definitely less compared to the Globalscape enterprise level. The purpose will be resolved if you want to use more transactions and more file transfers with a secured process.

What needs improvement?

If it is out of the country, with Fortra support in other regions and countries, there will be timing differences. You need to wait until that time because they only work on a US basis, not 24/7. It is just US timing, 8:00 to 5:00. They need to get sorted out to get 24/7 support, so that every country can benefit from the support.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been experimenting with GoAnywhere MFT for the past three months since becoming US-based on an H1B visa.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the Fortra support or customer service as a seven because the support was there every time. When we log a ticket, it is immediately assigned to a person who will call us. They will ask about all the pre-steps we need to do, where we create a log with verbose, log the issues, and send them the screenshots of the issues with log files attached. Based upon that, they do the pre-checks on everything, get the solution, and send us an email. If we cannot resolve it straightforwardly, they will schedule a call to assist.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

With Globalscape, I built knowledge, not with GoAnywhere MFT. With Globalscape, we got an in-between DMZ gateway to secure. Anything coming from outside traffic is secured because we got a DMZ gateway, which doesn't expose our IP addresses and everything on the security point. It can take any number of connections, so there is no problem with the connections. It integrates with anything.

How was the initial setup?

With both Fortra and GoAnywhere MFT, if you want the GoAnywhere MFT product, we need to buy a license from the company, Fortra. It is straightforward, and we get support on installation and everything. If you want a larger and more complex solution, that's where we use advanced workflow engines to create event rules.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was comparing differences by exploring other tools as GoAnywhere MFT and IBM Sterling, though not too deeply.

What other advice do I have?

I am still exploring the connectors for services such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics, and other connectors. It works for remote purposes because every MFT product has a web transfer client. We can use the HTTPS method to upload the files, or use SFTP tools to upload the files.

The importance of remote agents with GoAnywhere MFT is that everything should be automated, with no manual interaction. We can schedule it at a particular time, and the agent has to trigger. Once the file is automatically generated, it has to be uploaded and transferred to the destination.

Each agent serves a specific purpose - one for file generation, one for encryption, one for uploading files, and one for alerts about successful transfers and failures. Multiple agents act on individual tasks.

Fortra's capabilities for automation have grown significantly. They can be used in any domain, including medical, healthcare, and industrial sectors. The security is impressive with highly enabled components and features, including TLS. Fortra has reduced prices, and their automation has improved significantly.

If it's not complex, GoAnywhere MFT is straightforward for taking files and pushing them in large numbers. The product currently operates as a hub between different environments. Users need to be on a virtual server to install a Windows-based server to upload files.

GoAnywhere MFT has lower capabilities because it has limited features, but it serves its purpose. Some people only want file transfers without notifications or status updates, and considering the budget, it satisfies these requirements.

I rate this solution a 6 out of 10.

User-friendly platform enhances secure data transmissions but support responsiveness needs improvement

  • August 01, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

We had the enterprise version of GoAnywhere MFT. We had the business-to-business and in-house versions. We were sending and receiving files from vendors, which were banks, Nike, and all sorts of different purveyors, and then also from server to server within our own business. We were using it quite extensively. I think we were averaging maybe 500 transmissions a day.

What is most valuable?

What I appreciated the most about GoAnywhere MFT is that it was very user-friendly. It was also very reasonably priced compared to other MFT applications. If I bring up BMC's MFT option, it was three times the price and it had pretty much the same functionality.

At the time when we first got it, it was one of the first MFT applications that had secured transmissions. That was one of the things that our security department was very adamant about, getting a hold of all the ad hoc FTPs that were flying around and securing them all, finding out what's going on, where the data is, what the data is, and locking it all down. That's why we went to it.

What needs improvement?

The main area for improvement would be including better support. Support was horrible. When we needed help off-shift, at 2:00 in the morning, it was an hourly rate of $200, $175 an hour, and we waited an hour, hour and a half to get somebody on support. It was ridiculous. I'm accustomed to calling a support desk and getting immediate help. Every other application I've ever worked on was that way. GoAnywhere MFT, Fortra, their first-level support was just miserable.

Another improvement would be their pricing models. We went cheap at Foot Locker and didn't include the reporting options, and we should have because the reporting was really fantastic. They should roll it all in, make one price model, include the reporting, and that will make all customers happy.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using GoAnywhere MFT in my career for approximately 12 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We experienced a couple of issues with GoAnywhere MFT, but they were due to our own actions. One time we ran out of space on the server and it locked up because it couldn't write to its log files anymore. Another incident occurred when a developer had written a project using a resource that had an expired PGP key, which caused a cascading effect on authentication. That one was difficult to diagnose, but we figured it out with help from support by analyzing the logs. The stability of the application itself is excellent. We left it on an AIX machine that hadn't been rebooted in three years, which testifies to how the application ran.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We never really had to do any scaling with GoAnywhere MFT. We built it to fit our environment and planned for the future, and it was working effectively. We didn't have to add any other MFT servers. We had one MFT and one gateway, which was sufficient.

How are customer service and support?

First-level support for GoAnywhere MFT would rate about a seven for skill level. Second-level support, after waiting a day and working with the first-level person, would rate about a nine or ten. They were fantastic people to work with and remained engaged throughout the process. We were in contact for sometimes weeks afterward. They were really good at committing long-term to a solution. However, the first-level support was disappointing, especially considering the hourly rate of $175 for someone not fully versed in the application.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used homegrown ad hoc solutions, such as the built-in FTP that was part of z/OS from IBM, and FTP options for Linux and AIX. GoAnywhere MFT was the first enterprise-wide MFT solution that we brought in-house. We did evaluate BMC's MFT option, but it was essentially the same functionality at twice the price.

How was the initial setup?

The installation and upgrading process was not easy. Having someone from GoAnywhere MFT assist us might have improved the process.

What about the implementation team?

When I retired, I had everything in place and turned it over to a contractor from Fortra who was supposedly an expert in GoAnywhere MFT, but they still haven't completed the implementation.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We considered BMC's MFT option, which was three times the price with pretty much the same functionality. Since we used Control-M for our enterprise scheduling application, we considered using the MFT option but ultimately canceled that idea due to the cost differential.

What other advice do I have?

One of the reasons I retired was because of GoAnywhere MFT. The software itself was fine. Nearly every day, I was chasing down certificate owners and determining who was responsible for them. Nine times out of ten, they were no longer with the company, and the remaining staff didn't know anything about it or what to do. I spent approximately 90% of my time chasing down certificates and getting them updated. If the certificates could be removed, I would give it a nine. GoAnywhere MFT didn't provide any sort of guidance on certificate management. They simply provided what needed to be done and left the implementation to us, which was a significant oversight on their part as certificate management became a nightmare.

The overall rating for GoAnywhere MFT would be a seven, primarily due to the never-ending nightmare of certificates.

Efficient and secure managed file transfer

  • July 17, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

Customizable tool supports enterprise growth but requires UI and support improvements

What is our primary use case?

We use GoAnywhere MFT for both front-end SFTP and back-end managed file transfer.

We do not make use of the connectors for services like Salesforce, SharePoint Online, Dynamics 365, or any other services. The range of connectors that GoAnywhere MFT provides out of the box includes interesting connectivity to ServiceNow, which, although we don't use at our organization, adds flexibility, highlighting the product's strength in customization and configuration.

We do not use GoAnywhere agents because all of our connections are external organizations, and agents are more suitable for connecting offices within an organization.

We use secure forms for different purposes: one is for archiving data for 7 years for legal purposes, allowing employees to request specific files, and another allows us to handle all of our SFTP user and user-group provisioning through a secure form processing our formatted spreadsheet.

We use the GoFast feature to accelerate data transmission. This acceleration is beneficial as we handle a high volume of data and some fairly large files, sometimes up to 30 gig for an individual file, so having that functionality improves performance.

What is most valuable?

The best features of GoAnywhere MFT are its powerful customization capabilities that allow us to dictate the process and add in custom processes, which was a limitation with other MFTs we used.

Since implementing GoAnywhere MFT, we have seen scalability improvements, especially since we were using MOVEit MFT prior to that, and it just doesn't have the same scalability, making GoAnywhere a better fit as our company continued to grow.

What needs improvement?

The areas for improvement with GoAnywhere MFT include a basic SFTP user interface that lacks functionality compared to other MFT SFTP solutions, as well as some administrative features like filtering a page and job log record retention that could be enhanced. Support, UI, and filtering can definitely improve.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about 4 years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

The overall deployment of GoAnywhere MFT was pretty complex. It was complex due to the importance of data security in our industry, requiring a lot of infrastructure setup and a learning curve while migrating from the old environment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution requires maintenance from our end, which includes applying patches and updates, as well as testing and validating new versions. Judging stability in terms of downtime, bugs, and glitches, I would rate GoAnywhere MFT as an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

GoAnywhere MFT meets our business needs in scalability, answering our capacity requirements. I would rate the scalability of GoAnywhere MFT as a ten.

How are customer service and support?

When it comes to technical support, I would give it a rating of three. The technical support is slow to respond and to take action when issues arise, along with difficult-to-use user forums which complicate finding solutions on our own.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using MOVEit MFT prior to implementing GoAnywhere MFT. We have seen scalability improvements since the switch, as MOVEit MFT didn't have the same scalability, making GoAnywhere MFT a better fit as our company continued to grow.

How was the initial setup?

The initial deployment took several months.

What about the implementation team?

From our end, six people were involved in the deployment. Currently, ten users work with GoAnywhere MFT.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment from GoAnywhere MFT, not just financially, but also in saved time, resources, and efficiencies. In terms of percentage, for the amount of volume we are doing with GoAnywhere MFT and its functionality, I would estimate it has provided about a 50% return in four years.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the pricing of GoAnywhere MFT, they recently changed their pricing model, which wasn't as favorable, now moving to an annual renewal subscription model, but compared to other MFTs, I still find it reasonable. If I were to rate GoAnywhere MFT on a scale from 1 to 10, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I would say it falls around a six.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

When comparing GoAnywhere MFT with other MFT products, I think it's a good fit for an enterprise-level organization, though it may be more complex than needed for small-medium businesses.

What other advice do I have?

Our relationship with Fortra is that we are customers. GoAnywhere MFT has not saved us significant time in securely connecting with third parties; it compares well with other MFTs, though it hasn't been difficult to use. I would recommend GoAnywhere MFT to other users if they need something very scalable and flexible. On a scale of 1-10, I rate this solution a 7.
