Great search service provider
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia makes it easy to create new an effective search experiences. It is easy to implement, alter and use by developers and business/marketing folks alike. Customer support is also timely and helpful in their responses.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Algolia could support filtering on empty strings or null values and not equal operators.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Algolia allows us to run complex filtering/search quries on enormous amounts of data with lightning fast response times.

Easy to implement for technical teams and intuitive to use for e-merch teams.
What do you like best about the product?
A simple & a powerful e-merch tool : Visual and accessible without technical knowledge to e-merch teams. Allows you to implement any strategy: boost / bury / pin /... with an highly efficient preview that eliminates the need to publish on the site to validate changes (time-saving for e-merch team)

Technically easy to implement : Very well documented, available in all major current technologies, with time-saving implementation for developpers thanks to libraries.

What do you dislike about the product?
You have no control over the product roadmap. It evolves in the same way for all customers. You can't ask for specific developments.
Recognition and management of equivalences between units of measurement is complicated and could be better managed natively in the product.
No front end user experience template out of the box, you have to develop everything.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the BtoB, products are technical and the terms used are often very different from the user's natural language, making it impossible to find the product the user is looking for, which is very frustrating for the user and bad for the business.Thanks to analytics and features based on machin leaning that suggest synoms, it's now possible for e-merch teams to take action. It's the search engine that adapts to the user's language, not the user who has to understand how the company calls the product on the website to use the right term and succeed in finding it.

Still requires significant data organization from the user - better synonyms and automated product categorization would help

Enabling Algolia search for our product catalog in multiple languages has improved our search CTR by 40%
Great - but getting more expensive to unused additional services

The core search functionality is great, reliable and fast.
Their additional value add functions are good, but most are not worth the additional costs.
Admin and integration is difficult (M2) and does require technical dev/sys admin.

What do you dislike about the product?
Their cost structure and quoting are smoke and mirrors and increasing rapidly.
They are making it difficult to understand, predict, manage and rolling out increasingly hostile overages.
The end goal appears to allow themselves the first glance view of being competitively priced to get you contracted in, then hit you with overage charges. They know that switching between suppliers is costly - thus most customers wont.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for controlling complex searches for fashion, allowing us to control results for things like newness, stock levels, discounts etc.
We also use their preview search to great effect allowing people to adjust their searches on the fly using the visual feed back of the garments.
We also inject promotional content into search eg: Search Socks and the "Socks Multibuy" banner comes up in results.

My experiency with Algolia so far
What do you like best about the product?
Speed and responsiveness are the main reasons we're using Algolia in the company. There are analytics and insights provided by the tool that are really helpful for strategy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve might be steep for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly solving users typos and supressing irrelevant search results. Algolia provides good results for both website and app product searches withing the e-commerce.
Practical and very insightful
What do you like best about the product?
Algolia is very versatile. We can easily make AB tests, verify which indexes have good results and which don't and easily re-rank the search to put the most relevant items in a better position.

Algolia is a pricy solution and a few things require a bit more knowledge of how the tool works, such as the creation of rules

Algolia is easily re-ranking the products that have a higher conversion rate and also making it easy to create indexes to test hipothesis

Missing ML functionalities and plug-in. I am expect ranking rather than sorting.

It's very easy to use and implement. We really love the console dashboard as it makes it even simpler for folks who aren't used to using the tool to jump in.

The documentation is a little archaeic. It could use a bit of a refresh in the theme of ease of use.
