Good deployment tool
What do you like best about the product?
Our client migrated from existing deployment tool to octopus and I must say the tool has a great UI and is very easy to use. The ability to select release packages to deploy by just selecting from list of drop down is makes life really easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some areas that can be improved. Example:- Compared to previous tool that we used, octopus has somewhat restrictive display of past deployments that happened on a stream. There could have been a separate area where they could have displayed all the past deployments before stream refresh.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used the tool in deploying the solutions on test and production environment. The tool is used by restores, developers, support and architects within the project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend that people should use this tool once and look for themselves if it suits their requirements.

Octopus Deploy facilitates an automated runbook for application operations & automated deployments for managing our release cycles in our organization. It combines all activities related to automation under one roof so that we get the convenience to handle our infrastructure deliverables in cloud platforms. It promotes reusability of various parameters and data models such as environment definitions, configuration variables, external API keys, user permissions, and automation logic in its unified deployment platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Octopus Deploy makes it easy to carry on continuous delivery and release management maintaining code version management and consistency across our environments. We can simply get the overview of our approval status, release notes and status updates in its Dashboard. This effectively helps in understanding the deployment progress and automating complicated workflows at ease.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We utilize the Step Template feature from Libraries offered by Octopus Deploy for deploying our Reclience application in the AWS platform. It includes enhanced deployment patterns such as blue/green deployment & multi-tenancy which optimizes resource utilization and cost reduction metrics. We configure our AWS Lambda to fetch HTTP requests from API Gateway and carry out our automated deployments in AWS Dev, QA & Prod environments. We can also upload our script file inside a package to organize our dependencies with the help of its script source definition.

Capability for customizing flying pipelines. You can choose which steps you want to miss just before deployment. Lifecycle characteristics are also very valuable. They help us define the environments that are obligatory.
What do you dislike about the product?
In reality, not much to love. Maybe only because the public edition has been removed which is shameful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To use our code in multiple environments, we needed a flexible and simple configuration solution. The deployment of Octopus modified it for us copmletely. Without it, I don't know how we worked. Deploy Octopus can do a lot from the bag. My favorite terraform is included.
