Saves us a ton of dev time
What do you like best about the product?
Segment's thought leadership as far as the "Segment Spec" goes is unrivaled in the industry. Their approach to customer-data analytics is certainly their best.
What do you dislike about the product?
Each integration has its own nuance, I wish that was better categorized. For example, HubSpot needs an email passed down as a property, other integrations may not, etc... it ends up fighting against the streamlined-ness of Segment as an abstraction layer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Segment allows us to write one integration, directly to segment, and then handle the syndication of all those integrations to all of our third party tools. This is a huge benefit for us.
It also provides us with a nice methodology for our customer data by way of the "Segment Spec"

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to follow the Segment Spec, and understand it well, BEFORE integrating. Make a plan for integration, and find a few internal champions on the engineering team that pledge to understanding the data schema and architecture.
Makes going from 0 to 1 so easy, and then you never have to worry about it when going to 2, 3, 5, 10
What do you like best about the product?
The guidance they give on best practices for instrumentation, and the ease with which you can set your data up to go to new destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are certain limitations on how the data needs to be structured for downstream destinations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All in-product tracking for our digital product (across Android, iOS, Web). It has allowed us to generate insights about how people use our products that would have been impossible before.
A great way to track your events
What do you like best about the product?
It's really good at integration with many different services
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes some of the integrations don't work so well
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
You don't need to integrate each servixe separately
Segment has taken process that required custom code for iOS and turned it into a single line.
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that we can adjust the analytics sources and destination on the fly is very valuable. It also makes CCPA a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far the tools have provided a great experience. No complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have discovered new methods and tools to gather and analyze data from our customers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for the best analytics solution on the market, look no further. Segment is solid and awesome.
Data Tracking at its Best
What do you like best about the product?
Segment has a lot of integration which makes it the best tool for data gathering for our products. Also, a variety of SDKs in a different language is also available. User management has improved a lot since our first used of segment. Testing and Monitoring data is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently, segment doesn't have any process of customizing the data types that they are sending to destinations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are gathering as much data as we can in order for us to be able to identify our product's weaknesses and strengths. Through this, we are able to improve our product and focus our effort on the weaknesses to satisfy our customer's needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to follow Segment's Tracking Plan and you will have an easy to use and integrate data tracking.
Very intuitive and useful software
What do you like best about the product?
The software is very intuitive, works flawlessly, and is super easy to use. Setting new events for tracking data is also easy. It's also super quick - the gathered data appears in almost real-time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't extract the list of events in order to review them offline (in order to manage which to keep and which to disable).
When working in the "debugger" view, it's impossible to search using "OR" statements, which makes searches more tedious since you need to manually search more than once for different cases and compare the results "outside of the product" (copying data to a notepad for example).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it mainly to learn about our users' engagement with our software.
Setting new events is easy and the software is very intuitive. The data is flowing in real time which makes debugging (using the collected data) super useful. Managing the events is also super intuitive (using the "schema" view) with quick abilities of disabling/enabling events on the fly, sorting by less used events (or last seen) and many more useful options.
The ability to have a "Testing" profile enables us to develop new events and test them against the current ones, before releasing them to our public platform.
Another advantage is the amount of services you can integrate this product to, having the data flow seamlessly and having "less technical" staff members use the products they are familiar with based on the data gathered by the segment product.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't hesitate - it's a great product
The perfect glue for your marketing stack
What do you like best about the product?
Using Segment is not only time saving in terms of dev-ops, but it gets your smarter by asking yourself the right questions. What to use and how to generate actionable insights. Do I need to mention documentation is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wouldn’t talk of downsides. In order to make it work, you need to plan ahead.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building and tweaking a marketing stack that works for whatever it is you need to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not hesitate. This is worth the investment
A great service to track everything
What do you like best about the product?
I love it that Segment has integration with, well, almost every worthy service on this planet
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes some of the events don't go through all the integrations. I assume this may be a problem with the integrations themselves.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pushing analytics events to all external services to my product
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that the integrations you are looking for exist and work properly
Segment is Amazing
What do you like best about the product?
I add one snippet instead of multiple ones
What do you dislike about the product?
The price model changed. The MTU model is very expensive and I wish they would bring back simple API call pricing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use GA and WebHook destinations to record events into my own database
Data flows made incredibly easy
What do you like best about the product?
I like to only have to integrate 1 SDK to my app and be able to send the data to different products such as Mixpanel, Customer.io, Branch and so on.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say that the only thing I dislike is the documentation that can quickly become outdated, comes a new Swift update or a new product changes. It can be frustrating to be facing an outdated documentation, or the docs display code that won't compile.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're analyzing how our users use the app, we're sending data to Mixpanel, we're tracking views, events, etc. The benefits are that we're not clueless about what people do with the app! I think it's quite obvious benefits.
