Integrations and Data Implementation
What do you like best about the product?
Plug and Play. Instrument once, and that data is ready to be used anywhere, thanks to Segment's extensive library of integrations.
The product is great, and the team behind it elevates it even further with involved and knowledgeable CSMs, creative solutions architects, and an incredibly responsive helpdesk.
Replays make it easy to regain any "lost" data, and Segment has built a strong relationship with other key vendors in the space to create an extensible ecosystem to cover most data needs.

What do you dislike about the product?
Protocols is a powerful tool, but I wish it had been bundled with the core product rather than sold separately, as it's crucial to successful data collection at scale.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking user engagement, driving contextual nurture with the data we collect, and getting better insights from a part of our user journey that used to be a black hole. We've seen higher conversion, retention, and revenue since we adopted Segment and started using it to power our Growth stack.
An absolute must for any data-focused company
What do you like best about the product?
Segment removes engineering requirements from connecting data to new products and managing the flow of data in your organization
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost - many of the great features are behind the Business tier which is materially more expensive that the Team tier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized data structure, available to relevant tools, sync with data warehouse, ability to route data to new tools.
Save money, time and a lot of pain!
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to implement, with connections for lots of systems. I love especially the ability to send data to an external database (BigQuery or any SQL DB) and also the consistency of data across multiple platforms/systems. The setup and implementation force you to think before acting: Segment also offers a lot of resources to browse through to perfectly plan your tracking system.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing for very big projects is quite high. And then, if one day you decide to stop using it you have to re-build all your tracking stack almost from scratch!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gives a perfect view of the customer journey: no info is lost and there's data to take whichever decision to create better customer experiences. You can easily understand which features of your product are more used and which neglected, you can segment your audience and do one-to-one marketing, you know exactly how valuable each user is! It saves time in coding (you code once and it's done for all the platforms/systems you have to connect). You can experiment new platforms very quickly (no additional code required, so no engineer involved and you speed up time!).
Power of Segment
What do you like best about the product?
The power of segment to show real time valuable insights and its ease to connect with lot of destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that I can term as negative with regard to segment. Segment is really marvelous. Before using Segment we were not sure about market fit of our product but after connecting segment with Google Analytics and subsequent implementation of Visual Tagger we were able to visualize our real time data and were able to track our unique website visitors. It helped us in improving our customer experience and to significantly reducing our bounce rate. As a result of our product validation we were able to get funding commitments from investors. In my view startups can use the power of segment to visualize their customer insights and to show real time statistics to their stakeholders. Though there are many analytics providers but in my experience they are very few who track your unique users on monthly basis. Segment is great in this way to help you avoiding duplication of views on your product pages which can add to your credibility.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product Validation and Market Fit. We are also using Segment to improve our customer experience.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Segment can really help Founders to validate their product and to find Market Fit in considerably less time. It will not only help founders in quick pivoting but they can also use insights to further improve their product and customer experience.
Save time, effort, a good tool
What do you like best about the product?
At its core, the promise is unified user-level analytics. And that's delivered.
On top of that though, is a product that technical leads are usually ok with, since it saves them time and resources as well. It's hard to argue against the cost/benefit, and the possibility of building your own with their open source repos is always there.

What do you dislike about the product?
I think the pricing model is an issue for businesses with a lot of anonymous traffic if they want to use the managed analytics.js though Segment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a consultant, it's a very interesting tool because it brings business, marketing and technical teams together.
The core promise to each of those groups is already a huge benefit ( Business: unified analytics & data, Marketing: faster/better/more relevant personalised comms, Technical: the last 3rd party API you'll integrate).
But, apart from that, a lot of synergies and catalysts for growth have come from these teams being able to work together and have a common ground for making/discussing/weighing up decisions.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are other options in terms of products you can pay for, but doing it yourself using the open source tools made available by Segment is also an option.
Paying for Segment is still a great choice, and a no brainer for businesses past a particular size.
Segment is great when you have a way to identify your users. If you have a lot of anonymous traffic you will not get the most benefit out of Segment.

Absolutely necessary for any tech company with a modern data stack
What do you like best about the product?
Once you install Segment you can send choose your downstream services in one slick and remove engineering from the mix as you add on more tools and services.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the best features are only available on the business plan which is much more expensive than the team plan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unifying all of our user and analytics data transmission between tools, allowing us flexibility to choose the right tools with limited spin-up time, making it much quicker to add tracking and test before deploying.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Must have from day one as you create your tracking plan and build your data stack.
Segment is the core tool I use for all my client Customer Journey Optimization projects
What do you like best about the product?
I think the Personas product is a game changer to help in alleviating the reliance on developer involvement for Customer Journey Optimization
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing can be a little challenging for non-enterprise companies
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The key to the methodology I employ with my clients is to empower non-technical team members to experiment and iterate without developer involvement. Segment is core to this strategy as once the data is pushed to segment, it can be pushed to anywhere else without developer involvement.
Added clarity to a confusing situation
What do you like best about the product?
I love how clean and simple the interface is. Setup is so easy, I got up and running within minutes. Without segment, our CRM platform would have no real idea of the difference between customers and leads. It allowed us to connect our WooCommerce store to our Intercom customer engagement platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
The MTU limit is a bit too low. Also, there's no mid-tier pricing for less than 10,000 MTU, and therefore the first payment package (Team, up to 10K MTU) is a bit too high for my needs. It's the only reason I've not been able to buy it yet. I don't need spaces for 10 people, there's just me, so I feel like I'm being forced to pay $120/m for features and seats I honestly don't need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The MTU limit, too low for the Developer version, and there's no solo package for Segment, as far as I see. Pricing is my biggest, and only issue, with Segment. It locked my workspace because I exceeded the MTU limit more than twice in the last 6 months, but what am I to do? I can't stop users from coming but I've only had 549 users over the last month. I don't see why I need to upgrade to a plan that caters to 10,000 of them. I suppose that's my main difficulty with the product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just prepare yourself for a price. We offer quite unique products so we don't expect millions of users, but we do cross 500 a month occasionally. If you do too, and you need Segment, it's probably going to be a heavy investment. IT starts at $120/m for 10 seats at my time of writing. Additional MTU over 10,000 is going to cost you even more.
Full control data
What do you like best about the product?
Its graphical interface is very well optimized.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cache is sometimes too strong and causes conflicts
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Control the frequency of use of my app and offer products based on tastes
