Segment Review

  • April 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the UI and the dashboard and the debugger! It's very helpful for viewing incoming traffic :)
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that sometimes the debugger shows events out of order (not in chronological order)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No issues so far! Really great experience. Benefits: analytics for our company and our products

Best way to connect all of your alaytics

  • April 27, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Segment is the single platform to collect, unify, and connect your customer data. I don't have to ask my devs to implement new analytics tools into our product and we no longer have 5 differnet tools in the product pulling data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost can be expensive for an enterprise plan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Different departments like different tools, now we don't have to pick and choose just one.

What do you like best about the product?
How it is easily to integrate from diff sources and to multiple destinations
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing is code related that it might generate a lot of boilerplate at some point but is normal
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Usually works to have data to create dashboards and usage statistics

Easy to use CDP

  • April 27, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease to retrieve events in our Redshift database.
Works to send data to our other providers as well: we can send and retrieve NPS information from our clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not so much at the moment. The tool has been pretty flexible to align with our use cases.
We still need to have GTM for a few metrics on our site (load time, for example).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Front-end events retrieval with the help of our dev team.
We can as well send surveys to our clients thanks to the implementation with Satismeter.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are competitors that are more cheaper and efficient
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to get more customers. The lift has been okay at best, could be better

Helps to collect, filter and distribute high quality data in an easy way

  • April 23, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its easiness to integrate with other tools. Both tech profiles and data profiles can work with the tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some limitations occur depending on the implementation (cloud mode or client mode).
There is only one tagging plan that applies both for apps and the web.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We assure data quality, and we control that events accomplish with an established schema and quality. Also, we could eliminate several SDKs from the apps, leaving only Segment one.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Review if your current tools could be integrated into Segment before buying the tool.

Enables success as a data professional

  • April 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Segment truly enables any organization to measure and build. As a data professional, having a monolithic source of truth for instrumentation is genuinely a game-changer. Beyond the load balancing capabilities and the platform extensivity, Segment continuously strives to think on the cusp.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much! The UI improvements have been great, but this would have been a complaint in the past.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instrumentation source of truth, marketing tool data parity, and session understanding.

Super easy to use

  • April 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to integrate new applications and send data to other resourses. You dont need to have a developer inject more scripts and wait for a deploy, you can just add more destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
We initially had way to many MTU but once we implemented the identify, that number went way down. I also dont like that you can get lost with how many things can be integrated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We send information to heap, fullstory, google analytics. This makes it easy to add new destinations without having to inject more scripts manually

The most intuitive way to distribute data across all your tools

  • April 22, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how Segment makes it extremely easy to send multiple pieces of data to every tool app and tool used on websites and the app with a single script. Where before, you had to embed dozens of different scripts and use their individual formats to transmit data. With Segment you only do it once and enable/disable these 3rd party scripts as you please.
What do you dislike about the product?
Inside their app, they have two concepts called Sources and Destinations, and sometimes when you're in one view, it's a bit annoying having to navigate through Sources from Destinations and vice-versa.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem is tag management, and there are free alternatives that could potentially solve that issue. Still, Segment has so many integrations that it's hard to compete — you would likely have to write your integrations with these other alternatives. Segment makes it very seamless.
