Amazing service
What do you like best about the product?
It is one of the easiest content delivery network to use. You just pay for the CDN setup some DNS entries and then you are good to go. I really like the easiness of akamai.
What do you dislike about the product?
I will say it is not for small startup because you can't customize its features and services, you have to choose from the provided service which are not many.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are online music application and after using akamai we saw noticeable boost in loading time of web application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend this service to big companies not to startups.

Akamai is probably the best head to toe software/solution available
What do you like best about the product?
No shortage of services or programs offered. Akamai can truly deliver a customizable experience for everyone, business and individuals alike. For e-commerce sites I highly recommend it as they are able to deliver what I haven't really seen from any other vendors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our support wait times were a little longer than they were from other smaller vendors, but I suspect that's because the level of investment we had with Akamai was smaller than usual. For what we paid though I would still say that it was a good value.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have only used this in an e-commerce perspective but I would say that Akamai is really great. The client I was working with especially had trouble with their mobile e commerce site (which if you've ever worked on one, it's a pretty big pain to go from desktop to mobile.) Akamai had a whole suits of services offered tailored specifically to mobile which, for my client, was a boon. Their mobile site was slow and clunky and Akamai was able to optimize everything so that we were running much quicker with lower latency. The impressiveness was in how quickly and easily we were able to simplify the scale. If we were to pay an individual to do it for us it would've taken a long time and we would've lost out on potential revenue in the down time. Akamai in that sense paid for itself pretty quickly in terms of non-lost investment.
its ok
What do you like best about the product?
Very powerful, offers a lot of services. I used it mainly for video livestreaming. I think at the time it was one, if not the only one, offering HLS.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the amount of services can be a little overwhelming. It requires a very technical person to setup.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You must research their suite of services to see how to best utilize them given your content infrastructure.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working to provide greater capacity for Black Friday and holiday workload for retail organization. Using Akamai solutions helped us to exceed our revenue targets for holiday and to ensure no downtime for our eCommerce website.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
ensure that you have a strong technical account contact and that you have a strong team. Suggest visiting with Akamai leadership to outline goals/objectives to gain executive support.
Solid and Robust offering
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite product in their suite is the Property Manager, which is the latest version of their configuration management portal for managing edge caching configurations. In previous versions of the Luna Control panel, many options were not exposed to end users and required working with customer care to get them added to the configuration. In property manager you can control and tune hundreds of settings, its very rare we have needed to loop in ccare for config changes. As a caching solution in front of an S3 or ec2 origin, cloudfront has maybe 20% of the options compared to Akamai.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you do need to loop in professional services/advanced consulting, it is not cheap. Configurations can also take quite awhile to propagate (2-4 hours). API availability has been very poor thus far, we would love to automate generating configurations, and i believe there are initiatives around releasing these API's to public soon, it has just been slow to come (we've been asking for a couple years).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Hopefully you are able to understand your expected traffic at Akamai's edge, so you can negotiate the best price/GB based on what tier you land in.
Very expensive and not enough features
What do you like best about the product?
They do deliver what they advertise (DDOS protection, CDN, some security)
What do you dislike about the product?
The price that you pay for them compared to what you get at other providers is a major negative point.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare Akamai to the other content delivery networks out there such as Incapsula and Cloudflare before making your final decision.
Great resource for hosting large Documents and images for web application
What do you like best about the product?
Akamai provides a single location for storing and proving fast easy access for our millions of large documents and images needed for a web application. Having them in a CDN allowed us to almost forget about them and needing to move them to storage and back them up.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had initial problems with users having firewall issues accessing akaimi servers when requesting documents, and took a while for our network team to resolve this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Akamai solved a lot of storage and backup problems for us
Akamai helped our company prepare for an increase in traffic that we couldn't have done alone
What do you like best about the product?
Akamai does CDN very well, we were expecting a lot of web traffic to come through to our healthcare video website and didn't have the capacity at the time to handle that. We paired up with Akamai and made use of their capability to offload delivery of video, images, etc. to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The logs and dashboard weren't very easy to use, but we were able to get by with a little help from customer service, reading documentation, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very useful CDN that has been around for a long time and has a proven track record with many high profile companies still using them today.
User
What do you like best about the product?
Speed, ease of use, worldwide scale are the most like things.
What do you dislike about the product?
The thing that I most dislike is the minimum amount of traffic to join the program.
Simply Excellent
What do you like best about the product?
It's one of the geographically disperse CDN. Akamai is a robust network capable of hughe capacity.
Finally it allows for a custom origin. which depending on other solutions the site may take considerable effort to make it work.

What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot find something to argue about Akaimai's services.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to give it a look to CloudFront primary Akamai's competitor
