Bug reporting & maintainence is easy with BugZilla

  • October 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
The bugs can easily be reported, statuses can be easily updated, various sub-options can be made available on the reporting form like the version, platform, category, sub-category of bug helps in sorting and arranging the bug to get it directed only to the relevant team personals. Remarks can be given and all the information is packed into a individual thread. It also allows to report a bug as duplicate when found so. It has good searching capability and gives results by searching the entire data for keywords while writing the bug title to minimize redundancy. Reporting facility enables managers & leads to check the status of opened & closed bugs and reports can be customized based on various factors. It is very light-weight, simple and native user-interface
What do you dislike?
There should be better user-interface provided for better interactions and visibility. Ability to attach videos as attachment is also not yet available although images can be attached easily. They should also provide a mobile application for carrying out the task through the use of smart-phones on the go, which will enhance the productivity of the team; for now we need to use it in the browser.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The bugs are reported with the relevant information by any member from the quality assurance team especially the software testers. They are to be noted and reviewed by the development team for the existence and suitable solutions or patches can be provided; corresponding status is updated in the Bugzilla for that bug and they can mention the comments if any in the same thread. The quality assurance manager can then give his/her remarks for the same and may consult the team through the comments. Reports can be obtained after regular interval period which can be managed by the product manager and relevant feedback can be passed on to the Product Lead
Recommendations to others considering the product:
All the members of quality assurance team are recommended to use it. It is a very good tool to maintain the status of bugs reported, resolved etc thereby helping in improving the quality of the product to be delivered by the company. It is available for no cost and thereby helps in getting freedom from financial aspects.

What do you like best?
Roburst to use and simple, easy navigation . Lot of customization are available for various modules & phases of the product quality testing. Above this, it is a free software tool hence very useful for small size organizations especially the start-ups to ensure their product quality remains at the top-notch & is tested in various conditions. There is also free support available for resolving any issue, although paid support is also available if there is a need to high expertise support. The communication between the entire team members can be done easily on the threads using comments. Status of any bug/defect can be easily tracked with the help of BugZilla. Reports can also be generated about list of bug for a particular status of version. Search feature is very good and has a lot of options to fetch relevant thread of bug/defect reported. Various hierarchy level organizations also can use this as it allows relevant access to respective level of user viz. Manager, Lead, Member, Analyst.
What do you dislike?
The UI is not at all good. It has a very simple UI and doesn't provide end-user a user-friendly experience. Due to this fact, lot of people move out for the better tool if they are having enough budget to afford the paid softwares alternative to BugZilla.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When a member of quality assurance team finds a bug in the product of the organization, it is reported in the BugZilla for action. Managerial people can track the status of the bug. Multiple search filters and various sub-options are really user-friendly and helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a very light-weight tool for easily managing the quality test of any product. Bug can easily be reported and it's status can be tracked, updated whenever required depending upon the role assigned to the relevant member.

Great Bug Tracker

  • August 29, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
When it comes to tracking bugs the first name of choice would be Bugzilla. The controls are intuitive and self explanatory.
What do you dislike?
Bugzilla is a bit clunky at times with saved bug reports not getting saved. Search won't work properly at times. The GUI is quite old fashioned.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To perform a simple task no need to navigate through sub-menus. Search is very fast and precise when we need to search for any particular bug report. Logging bugs is made very easy and email notifications are sent to set groups easily to be aware of the bugs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Bugzilla is a good open source product which is indeed a good choice for small and medium sized businesses.
