Amazing platform for connecting multiple teams across a business.
What do you like best about the product?
Real time, flexible, handle complex calculations. Creates a connected planning environment so you can complete WFP, send that to an Expense model, complete other expenses, send that to a reporting model along with revenue and see a P&L; plenty of other examples of this as well. Standardizes calculations across the business, allows users a standardized approach to the planning process as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alternate hierarchies are complex to build, calculations need to be built correctly the first time around since changing calculation logic changes data for all versions even if it was previously 'locked down and submitted'.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving issues with teams that have poor communication. Creating a single source of the truth instead of everyone using data from different systems and as of a different point in time. Helping to create an actual planning process for businesses that are more disjointed.

Anaplan SPM Deployment Experience
What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility of Anaplan, their efforts in creating best practices and the amount of effort that is put into their community base. Their training has improved immensely since I started using Anaplan in 2017. They listen to their users and adjust so that newer users being onboarded each year have a better and better experience. The idea of connected planning is also very interesting and something that we'd like to further implement at our company.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides of Anaplan is that it exposes inefficiencies and inconsistencies in the existing processes. Most of the time spent implementing an Anaplan solution is understanding and reshaping business processes. Often times, the time spent actual solution building in Anaplan is a fraction of the time it takes to get the business aligned on process. The flexibility in Anaplan is at times a detriment as there are many different paths to arrive at the end goal, and many paths will cause performance problems or are inefficient. There is a lot of thought that is required to build a sustainable and scalable solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems that we are solving with Anaplan include: Territory and Quota, Sales Forecasting, Revenue Planning, Compensation Plan Scenario Modelling. The benefits we've had specifically to the SPM models surround the notion of having real time updates in a centralized system rather than sending out 50 Excel files, getting 50 Excel files in return and manually consolidating into a single report. The amount of time that is saved on the consolidating alone is probably a half day of effort per week. Other benefits specific to revenue planning is our revenue planning models in Excel were complex, large and very slow. We often had data quality issues with Excel, at times saving the Excel file would take several minutes. With Anaplan, those Excel specific performance issues were eliminated, it was easy to build out new dashboards and different views of the same data for BI.
Anaplan for Corporate Planning - Financial Services
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility to ingest data from multiple source systems, flat files, and quickly produce models. Having the skill set in house to design, architect, and deploy models rapidly allows Anaplan to be a robust option for many corporate projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface offers limited presentation ready options. Working in Financial Services, the branding, formatting, and clean lines are an important factor that are missing. As the user interface becomes more readily available it will help with this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have reduced operational risk and reduced data security by migrating several spreadsheet processes to Anaplan. (Including strategic compensation, revenue forecasting, cash forecasting, accounts receivables, business development pipeline).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is important to select the right consultant for implementation of Anaplan. Although the tool is flexible, having the correct architecture from the start enables future success exponentially. As the company moves towards deployment it is highly recommended to hire internal talent to support and continue expansion throughout the organization. A reliance on 3rd Party Vendor support to expand and drive user adoption often creates disconnected models, inconsistencies with data, and lack of congruence in terms of formatting/functionality because of the bespoke nature of the platform.
Connected planning that automates budgeting and forecasting.
What do you like best about the product?
connectivity with all models and external source. Inputs connected to all other tables. New UX becoming a lot smarter compared to the old UX.
What do you dislike about the product?
lead time to build from scratch and inputting data is considerably slower compared to excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
siloed departments brought together, reducing amount of time spent on budgeting and forecasting.
Live changes to the figures making an instantaneous update to forecast number.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend Anaplan as a tool to connect between various department and systems to do forecasting and budgeting.
Using Anaplan for connected Supply Chain Planning use case
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is relatively low cost platform which provided business a quick ROI.
I am using Anaplan since year 2015 and switched my career to consulting, before year 2015 I used to work as a Head of Production Planning and Logistics for one of the Tata Group entity. I was responsible for end to end supply chain, production planning , distribution planning , after market and logistics planning. It was very difficult for me to do planning, budgeting, supply chain provisions in excel spread sheets at granular level of details, considering huge count of SKU's I was not able to create detailed rough cut /short term planning at product or product-customer level, because of which I always faced challenges while planning plant capacity, planning constraint based production etc. It was always difficult for me to commit production / distribution to sales team, impact on inventory carrying cost.
From 2015 I have started using Anaplan and I implemented many end to end Anaplan models in the field of Production planning, inventory planning , capacity planning, S&OP, demand planning, supply planning for multiple global customers and I really can see my clients taking huge benefit out of Anaplan in terms of profitability or cost reduction. With proper planning company can decide their strategy to make business more profitable.

If you are looking for a platform that requires minimum effort to set-up and can provide the ttols needed for a fully connected planning, then Anaplan is ideal for you.
Scalable tool that is easy to use and adapt in various industries.
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using the platform for a little over 2 years. It is easy to use and very scalable. The tool can be used for a plethora of applications and modeling cases. Anaplan provides a lot of training resources for new users in order to bring them up-to-speed.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Lifecycle Management for the application is a little tricky. For example, if you make multiple changes in the Development environment, you cannot promote just a few of them into production. It is all or nothing. There are ways, though, to get around this limitation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Anaplan for out annual budget process as well as out quarterly forecasting. We have created a few models (Data Hub, OpEx Planning, Project Planning, Workforce Planning), and always looking to expand them. From the first year of using this tool, we have realized tremendous savings in timing from thee submission of the budgets from the departments to the rollup and analysis by FP&A.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Leverage the training that is provided by Anaplan! Additionally, there are several apps that are already created by Anaplan that you can use in order to jumpstart your implementation. If choosing to go with a partner for the implementation, ensure that you are heavily involved in the process and that you receive good documentation of all the modules and models that are built.

What do you dislike about the product?
I like Anaplan a lot overall, however I believe there is space for improvement in UX to imporve usability, also some functionalities which exist in excel are not available and had to find a workaround which is not super complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been using Anaplan since long time, we use it across various financical use cases; Revenue and Expenses Forecasting, Insurance P&L, Real Estate Cashflow modeling, Real Estate P&L...
Anaplan helped us in various ways starting from connecting all the financical model to see the real time impact, each model has its own benefits, Below is the benefit of our first Anaplan implemention within our orgainsation.
Before Anaplan, we had to consolidate 100+ spreadsheet from asset managers from various location to produce Fund cashflow and Fund performance metrics, more time was spent on data collection, error checking, and reporting.
After Anaplan, zero time spent for reporting as anaplan is powerful enough to produce real time consolidated reports, one platform to manage 100+ properties.

The ideal planning tool for a business oriented team
What do you like best about the product?
Initially my first good impression came with the training materials which allow self-learning while at same time being very business oriented. Working on it for a few years now I'm still impressed with how easy and flexible is to build a model and then changing it as needed, specially comparing to other similar tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of basic ETL tool to transform data to be imported
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being a consultant, it allows me to build complex models for any planning issue that my clients presented so far.
