it's a brilliant piece of software, but it needs Great computers to work on.
What do you like best about the product?
it's stunning graphics, and the performance it can give out of a suitable computer, having it's built-in VR support is really awesome, and building things with nice visual interface is a pleasant experience (talking about the BluePrints system for sure).
What do you dislike about the product?
however, the software have some problems here and there, it's shadows isn't perfect yet, and it has always some problems in it, sometimes I come across bugs and software crashes which I wish can be solved all at once.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm working mainly on the workflow between multiple programs to have the assets imported into unreal engine correctly, also, working on quixel suite 2 to have material created correctly, however I'm trying to reach the best quality possible.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Unreal Engine is headed in the right direction, actually the most awesome thing about it that the company (EPIC) is continuously improving the software and doing a lot of stuff and fixes regarding everything included in the program, I really appreciate their work and would support them for sure for their efforts.

The Ultimate Game Engine
What do you like best about the product?
This program has an extensive library of tools and features for game development. It is great for both students and professionals. For programing, a large knowledge of scripting is not necessary because the Blueprint feature enables users to code in a more visual manner. Also, it is free for anyone to use and learn from! As a former student, this is definitely one of the biggest draws.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the most frustrating things about this program is the vagueness of the error messages. While this is a free program, you do need a beast of a machine to properly run this software and make the most usage out of it. Not the most student-friendly if they are having to purchase their desktop computer or are limited to a laptop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because of the diverse amount of diverse tools and features that Unreal Engine offers, it can be very educational for anyone who is remotely interested in game development and might want to delve into the field. It is also asset-friendly, where users can make downloadable sellable content for others. This promotes the drive to create!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be afraid to download Unreal and try out this program. The availability is to anyone and the amount of documentation is so vast that it is very possible to learn this program without teacher aide. Though it is extremely confusing upon first look, basic tutorials are literally everywhere and the support through forums and websites are abundant as well.
Unreal is breathetaking.
What do you like best about the product?
The photorealism and amazing lighting system .
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface has a learning curve and materials system although robust is very tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to come up with new interactive experiences in the VR space. Unreal has alot of support especially with Oculus.
Intuitive, feature rich and artist friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The Blueprint visual scripting system is very easy to use and powerful, entire games can and should be built within blueprint.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of intuitive level modelling tools; it would be nice to have some more spline based tools
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Learning the skill of level design and game building
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Blueprints are the most creatively empowering aspect of the engine as a non-programmer so they are worth learning.
Software that is limited strictly by your imagination
What do you like best about the product?
The Unreal engine is a spectacular software that continues to evolve. Epic Games has made a huge leap coming from their previous engine, UDK (Unreal Development Kit). The best part about this software is there is such little cost, especially if you plan to sell a game. I've followed the development of this software for a long time and dabbled with it plenty of times to say that I wouldn't consider using another game engine.
What do you dislike about the product?
A big con of this massive beast that is the Unreal engine is that it can be difficult to learn. Epic Games has at least built a community with online forums and partial documentation within the software. However, I'm sure as development continues they still expand their Knowledgbase for entry designers to bring their ideas to life with ease. There are tools in place to make your life easier, but I feel like they only scratch the surface and may make you feel lost when you try to go beyond the basics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest benefit is the payment model that Epic Games has in place for selling games made with their engine. They now have a generous payment plan and they collect minimal fees in comparison to their payment plan before with UDK. This should definitely encourage new game designers to get their feet wet in the industry.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be ddiscouraged by the plethora of tools. Take the time to look through the documentation. Epic Games has tutorials specific to types of games.
Unreal is a lot of fun, incredibly powerful, and was vastly important to my artistic career!
What do you like best about the product?
I love how complex yet accessible it is.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a bit bloated for smaller games
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I love that the engine is free as I am using it for educational and experimentation purposes. In the future I intend on creating games using the engine, so I often think about the payment I'm required to give to Epic if my game makes enough money. Regardless, I tend to think it is definitely worth it in the end.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As I had mentioned prior, UE4 is very complex and powerful while also being accessible at the same time. It does not patronize you with hand-holding and it lets you mess with everything it's got. Compared to engines like Unity which feel a lot more like a beginner's game engine, UE4 feels like I can do whatever I want, and the more I mess around and experiment in the engine, the more I find that it's true. I primarily use the engine to create particle effects and set dress environments, but I also have much experience using the shaders and programming parts of the engine as well. Sometimes using these tools may feel overwhelming, but in the end, mastering these tools means you can create just about anything you could imagine.
Unreal Engine personal experience review
What do you like best about the product?
Unreal Engine has been a great tool for my Game Development projects. The interface creates a smooth workflow for my needs to rough out and then polish a level. Unreal's tools are extremely useful and solve many problems that improve the ease of the entire teams tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much I can really say I dislike, there are a few technical issues I run across rarely. As an individual that is not a programmer, I would like to see more resources that can make an artist and designer like my self to add more functionality to our ideas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working with Unreal has given me a great tool. It has allowed our team to improve our game play through detailed revision made easy with Unreal's tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Unreal's tools are the great for any game developers looking to produce a realistic and high quality experience.
A Great Engine for making something beautiful and very accessible
What do you like best about the product?
The thing I've always admired about Unreal over it's competitors is the combination of the out of the box beauty and the relative ease of use in everything from level sculpting / world building to getting actual implementation functioning using tools like blueprint . No game Engine does a better job of making a developer feel like they have the potential to craft the next Gears of War or Batman Arkham game than unreal does. Almost as if you are handing the developers the legos to form a masterpiecce with.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Unreals community is much improved over what it was in its early days there's still a lot to be desired . For me Modularity and importing components for a game feels a lot more challenging than how I could export and import packages into new projects in Unity. Also While Unreal is great it takes time for a person whose never developed games to wrap their head around it . I definitely think it's vastly open nature can be intimidating to the inexperienced but that can be said of almost any position or tool in game development , the willing will push to learn a good application .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At the moment Unreal has a large interest boom in the VR space and so I have re-opened it just to be re-acquainted with the engine and gain some marketability. I think it's good to stick your hands in a new toolset every often , it keeps you sharp and I have been able to make solid simple prototypes using it .
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to become an active user in the Unreal community, the more solid contributors the better and it's a great resource if you need some direction .
Unreal Engine is a great tool for games
What do you like best about the product?
Once you learn the interface (which has many help features), the potential for what you can do seems almost limitless. I like that there are many options for editing each aspect of an asset, light, camera, landscape, you name it. There are many tools within the editor such as the landscape tool, foliage brush, cascade, matinee, blueprint, that allow you to customize your project in different ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the tools I mentioned are more difficult to understand or get to work correctly than others. Luckily there is lots of documentation on each subject but for instance if there is something very specific you want to do in blueprint it can be very hard to figure it out with only the documentation available, so some background knowledge of certain aspects may benefit you more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Unreal Engine gives me a place to practice making art that would work in actual game development situations and explore various areas of game creation such as level design, programming, cinematography, and VFX. I believe learning to use Unreal can give you skills that you can apply to other game engines if needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is free so you might as well try it if you have any interest. There are lots of tutorials, examples, and documentation online to help with all aspects of Unreal Engine. There are also many things available on the Marketplace that you can look at to get additional help.
Unbeatable quality experiance
What do you like best about the product?
The UE4 has its own unique style. The quality in real-time is unbeatable. Blue prints are easier to learn and user friendly. Materials gives the real object feel.
What do you dislike about the product?
The update is not stable often. (nearly a update per week). The FPS for oculus is less and stereo mode problem.
