Scalable solution

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a product manager I can create & QA events easily without being stuck in the dev or data team queue
What do you dislike about the product?
When you sync data with RedShift, Heap automatically creates a column in the events table. That may drive our data storage out of control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My entire experimentation program relies on the data from Heap.
We pass experiment parameter and use it as a filter to compare control vs variation.

Good product, helpful for analytics

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can see my users' workflows. I can see what they first did on the website as well as where they navigated, and what features they used, and for how long.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't search/filter/analysis duration of sessions easily, or number of events in order to analyze engagement more effectively
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
understanding workflows, and figuring out feature usage

Heap is always tracking

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What we like best about Heap is that it always listening and gathering data even when we haven't thought of the question to ask it or report to run. Unlike other tools where you have to know your question a head of time, Heap allows us to always be tracking and can even retroactively go back in time to see how visitors to our site interacted with a certain component.
What do you dislike about the product?
Heap is a little hard to use the user interface. The other day was looking for a simple browser type report and it took quite a while to find it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Client experience

Great software. Serves our needs well

What do you like best about the product?
We are able to get valuable insights from the data. Also the ability to track events in the past is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like to generate triggers from particular events, or if users get into specific cohorts to take actions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have made important product decisions based on data gathered by Heap
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Triggers/webhooks from users entering in cohorts.

Excellent cross-session analytics, nice integrations

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Heap has allowed us to analyze the behavior of our traffic across multiple sessions and generate hypotheses for new experiments using web behavior data. The integration with redshift allows us to do custom analytics downstream that wouldn't be possible without sessionizing our web logs. Integrations with experimentation platforms also allow us to build reports for every experiment we launch so our analytics are all in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
It'd be great if Heap could not only write to a DW but also read from it, so that we could set up conversion funnels that include offline events.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap is our go-to platform for web analytics. It's made it easy for everyone on the team to pull metrics and generate hypotheses quickly without blocking on an analyst.

Good web analytics platform

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I think it's very user-friendly and easy to learn. The support is very helpful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the analytics and more complicated reports are only accessible if you upgrade to Heap connect.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking revenue from different marketing campaigns.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
do it! take the time to build strong reports that you can use for a long time. High upfront effort, but pays off.

Great UX, more features desired

  • August 27, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to define events; especially with specific events that I'm not familiar defining it via "Define Events", the Event Visualizer is a great tool to assist.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be an alert system where inactive events or events that have not gathered data in some time can be sent so proactive cleanup of events can happen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Engagement is a key metric for our PMs, and we're able to build dashboards that can answer these questions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Connect it to your database so you'll be able to sync events and perform more custom queries outside of the UI.

Incredibly useful for any company who cares about users

  • August 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most positive thing is the ability to retroactively obtaining information. Before using heap we always started gathering data as soon as we decided we wanted to measure something, but now we can access metrics from the past after deciding to measure them.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is still little functionality in terms of reporting. Reports and dashboards are essentially data taken directly from charts and tables. They could improve this by allowing more complex exporting features and more flexible dashboard building. Remember that the analysis will ultimately be used to share with someone else on the team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Heap helped us understand the impact of the features we develop in a fast way. For example, what pages were never visited, or which buttons and functionalities are clicked the most. What improvements in engagement did we have after deploying new functionality? It's not that it was impossible to measure, but it was definitely unfeasible considering the development needs, and now it's just embedded from the inception of each feature.

Great Service & Integrations, Missing a Few Items

  • August 27, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to define events and look back at historical data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have yet to figure out how to get session duration, which we absolutely need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are tracking user activity in a product to understand the most used and impactful features. We uncovered several reporting features in our product were highly used, but rarely talked about in surveys. Because of that, we were able to adjust our roadmap.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Heap is a fantastic way to track SPA activity across team members of different abilities and expertise.

Heap is great if you have the time to dedicate to it

  • August 27, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to define events within Heap, and that I can get retroactive data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm busy and sometimes Heap gets pushed to the bottom of my priority list. I also wish Heap was able to capture free form text.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Heap to understand how our clients use our platform to find any areas for improvements. We use Heap to validate if our new features are being actively used and are helping our clients.
