Secure workflow, easy setup

  • April 03, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was Super easy to get started with teleport. We followed their guide and got our bastion host set up in a day. We added the ability to sign in with github which makes our workflow for securing our hosts super easy. We now only have to remove access to github and the ability for someone to deploy has been removed. Really cool for an open source project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up github actions didn't work for us. Everything in the guide worked when we started a brand new repo, but in the end we had to bail on using this feature because there was no way we could figure out how to debug teleport on the bastian host. That being said, I think it would have worked if we had started from scratch on a brand new repo.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teleport removes the need for us to pass around ssh keys or adding them to our AWS account unnecessarily. But it does it so well. It fixed the next problems we didn't know we would have by making it super easy to manage people as they come and go from our organization.

Teleport makes managing multiple Kubernetes Clusters a breeze

  • April 03, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
It is well thought out from a use and security standpoint. They have covered all teh baes. Of particular interest to us i steh Aadi capabiloities as we plan to have contractors monitor certain aspects of our production clusters. and can record and peer observe their activity, all bundled under a short lived access token.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very LIttle, the only issue for us is to figure out our OAuth integrations, we are unable to do this without deploying the enterprise version .. The OS version does allow github for oauth, however the roles do not map. Our user models will be very complex and managed via keycloak. To be able to test and try various scenarios with a limited dev team user base (say 10 members) before deploying enterprise woudl be a huge advantage to us .. Teleport has many options and we would want to try the best aporach that worked for us, as well as looking at how we can integrate all or tooling with the roles driven from Keycloak.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centrally Managed Access. We are OSS right now but will move to a Keycloak-based OIDC commercial teleport version in the future

What do you like best about the product?
Ssh and app access are great, audit and alerting based on logs.
What do you dislike about the product?
For quite long usage of Teleport still do not understand session ttl parameters. Its quite annoyingly to sign in every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Modern way of VPN, and single point of auth to internal resources.

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to connect multiple Systems to Teleport and montor/access them all from one place. Finally to have all systems in one place makes management easy
What do you dislike about the product?
I have found no downsides to using Teleport. It is easy to setup and connect multiple systems. I wish this was available years ago. I am sure it will just keep getting better with time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps with not having to remember all the credentials and passwords for all systems and grouping security logins together with single sign-on helps with expediting logins to multiple systems as well.

Amazing Product easy to install and does exactly what's needed.

What do you like best about the product?
Teleport is super easy to install and configure, with detailed instructions. The designers and engineers have thought about how the product can be used not just in a greenfield site but also in brownfield deployments.
The ability to provide RBAC access to a multitude of services is brilliant.
The support provided on the slack channel is also massively helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside is that the external auth connectors bar github are locked behind a paywall. I understand why this is the case, as they need a hook for elevating you off the OSS version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Provides us with a zero trust tool that allows for detailed RBAC and monitoring capabilities.

Very flexible cloud access control system

  • March 30, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility with regards to the composition of users, roles, etc., easy to understand, configure and debug and a very good audit log for debugging or troubleshooting. "Role merging" is a key component for us, where users with different permissions get a single user which they can use instead of having to change contexts to access different parts.
What do you dislike about the product?
YAML can be tedious to maintain and work with, especially with many user groups and very "ABAC/RBAC-focused" permission sets. It's simple to automate with some scripts, though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're using AWS and having separate roles and/or accounts for each domain our developers are working on is a pain, having to assume-role and/or log in to a new session to view other resources. Teleport can merge all these accesses into one profile so we can access all resources without having to change scope.

Teleport has revamped our security approach to Infrastructure

What do you like best about the product?
I have received immense support from good folks at Teleport in their Slack channel numerous times. We are self-hosting on EKS and ran into some issues, but every time Teleport folks have stepped up, shout out to Gus and Zac!
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the documentation needs a bit of attention, and if Teleport can improve the error message around tsh-teleport proxy version mismatch, that would be awesome too!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Earlier, developers used to share pem files and database passwords for Server and Database access. For K8s also, users had to be added to the config map. Now we have made this way more secure with Teleport.

Streamlined our access management

  • March 29, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use Google Workspace SSO and this allows us to use google groups to easily setup RBAC, the just-in-time access request feature is also very helpful for us to ensure that users only have the minimum permissions necessary for the vast majority of their time working, and can request elevated permissions as necessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still some rough edges around the user-experience, but support has been easy to work with to submit feature requests and the team has even reviewed some of my pull requests to help make Teleport more ergonomic for our users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teleport makes it much easier for us to achieve and maintain SOC 2 compliance, as well as further enhancing our security posture with auditing and short lived certificates.

Teleport is an all around fantastic product

  • March 29, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Teleport enables operations teams to perform job duties in a powerful yet simple way. With Teleport, we can transparently empower people to run operations confidently. The UI is simple, node inclusion is easy, and the auditing tools are exceptional.
What do you dislike about the product?
The update cadence is hard to keep up with. While quick upgrades and updates are a strength, keeping up with stable is a nearly full-time job. This isn't to say I believe you should slow down, but rather an expression of where some of my grey hairs come from. Keep up the great work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Teleport is primarily solving an issue with access; in the past, I used complex self-hosted systems, authorized keys, etc. Now I lean toward leveraging Telport to govern all access to systems.
