What is our primary use case?

I use Mendix for business purposes only, similar to other low-code and no-code platforms like Unqork. It is not suitable for applications like Netflix, and it is specifically used in industries such as insurance, banking, and manufacturing.

What is most valuable?

I highly regard Mendix because of its proper support, troubleshooting options, extensive learning path, and the availability of different types of exams. The solution is beneficial for integration with existing systems due to features like AI integration, SOAP integration, REST API integration, and various other options. Mendix offers validation, workflow and nanoflow minimization, user components, and follows best practices, making applications easily manageable and scalable. It saves time and cost while providing options for maintainability and scalability.

What needs improvement?

Currently, I do not see any improvements needed in Mendix. However, I have not used Mendix for the last few months, so I lack insight into any new features that might have been added.

Occasionally, there is downtime if an upgrade is happening in the application.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Mendix provides options for handling scalability and maintainability through features like validation, workflow and nanoflow minimization, and user components, enabling projects to be easily managed and scaled.

How are customer service and support?

Mendix provides proper support, troubleshooting options, and a helping community. The support resources are highly rated.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not work with other low-code solutions but remember names like OutSystems, Pega, and Appian. However, I chose Mendix due to its large market presence and availability of resources.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and similar to other solutions.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have some idea about the licensing part, and it depends on the person and the number of applications.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have not worked with other solutions, but I remember names like OutSystems, Pega, and Appian.

What other advice do I have?

I would surely recommend Mendix because its market is large with many opportunities available. There are stability issues during upgrades, but overall, I rate Mendix nine out of ten.

Transformative Low-Code

  • February 10, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Unlike many players in the low-code space where low-code capability is just an extention of some preixesting core capability (think Salesforce, Service Now, Microsoft, Appian), Mendix is a pure low-code platform entirely focused on low-code application development. This focus, allows the tools they provide to be intuitive to work with and extreemly capable in terms of technical delivery, and easy to integrate.
Althought it's designed to be an enterprise grade platform, they have licencing models that would be suitable for startups and smaller organisations.
By providing all the tools and services required to design, build and deploy - so implementation is very straignt forward.
In addition to their 24/7 online support Mendix provides a full online academy, and have a thriving online comunity - all of which delivers an outstanding developer support experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not so much a dislike but just a reality of low code is that there are limitations that should be acknowledge.
Yes, it's fully extensible, but only in Java for server side logic, and JavaScript for client side logic - if you want to work in other languages/frameworks you'll need to build those functions elsewhere and integrate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Traditional software development projects tend to be complex and costly. Mendix projects can be delivered extreemly quickly, and at a fraction of the cost - without sacrificing quality, security, or user experience.

The ecosystem of partners and resources that help make the implementation of your Mendix projects a success.

Robust and trustworthy low-code platform

  • January 07, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Mendix for over 10 years now and the capabities have grown inmensely. However, the basis has stayed the same: powerful visual modelling of your dat, ease of use and the capability to quickly build great software solutions
What do you dislike about the product?
The ease of use comes at one cost: sometimes it's unclear what happens under the hood, meaning it's also easy to quickly build bad software with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing me to quickly build software for and together with our clients.

Cloud-based, helps fill gaps and that seamlessly integrates with existing systems

  • December 18, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I am applying the application to digitalize the Orbiq process and have created a customer-focused program to keep customers close. Additionally, I have an application that enables me to create quotations for my customers and their clients. I maintain and continue to develop these applications.

How has it helped my organization?

Mendix gives me the opportunity to build a solution that is more attractive to my end users, allowing me to create my own specific software. I use an ERP program called EnterpriseOne from Oracle, but ERP software options can be rigid and not practical for end users. Mendix fills the gaps where other software falls short.

What is most valuable?

Mendix provides the ability to create solutions that fill gaps that I would otherwise be unable to address with standard software. It integrates seamlessly with my existing ERP systems, enabling me to build attractive and user-specific solutions. Its cloud-based platform supports agile methods and enhances my development speed. These features enable me to better meet my organizational needs.

What needs improvement?

All software applications have their hiccups, including the Mendix Studio Pro developers program. Though still improving, there is no specific example of what really needs to be improved. Some learning paths need improvement, but most are satisfactory. It is not one hundred percent stable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Mendix since June last year, so that's about one year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is generally stable, however, is not 100% stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Mendix supports scaling well with its comprehensive online documentation and learning paths. Consultancies can assist with scaling from small teams to enterprise levels.

How are customer service and support?

I find support accessible. I haven't often needed to seek direct support from Mendix teams as their online resources and knowledge database are comprehensive. I rate their technical support between eight or nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously worked with IBM Notes. However, since IBM Notes is no longer on IBM and will likely disappear, I have found Mendix to be better for the long term.

What about the implementation team?

You definitely need professional people to do the development in Mendix, especially if you're a small company.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Mendix to others, particularly medium to large-sized companies. For a small company, it might be better to hire consultancy companies.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Experience with Mendix Platform

  • December 17, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Mendix is a great low-code and no code platform which has the great potential to enable rapid application development model within the business.

The best part what I like about Mendix is TAT(Turn around time) of the project. With help of Mendix, we can easily deliver an application in a span of 3 weeks from scratch right from development to deployment which usually takes months in case of traditional coding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not having CDN within the Mendix architecture is one of the thing I don't like. It can have enhance the performance and response time of the application having within the application setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enables RAD model which gives us an opportunity on building the core application without worrying about the underlying architecture of the application.

Mendix has a powerful offering as PaaS model where one has to be bothered for application and its data management and rather it is maintained by Mendix which helps in achieving less TAT (Turn around time) of the project.

A robust platform for visual development

  • December 13, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Mendix makes app development efficient with its visual interface, but what really stands out for me is the balance between ease of use and flexibility. Compared to other low-code tools I’ve worked with, Mendix gives me far more control and freedom to handle complex requirements without feeling constrained. The platform’s robust integration options and scalability make it a greatchoice for building applications that can grow with the ever changing business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
One issue I’ve encountered with Mendix is the dependency management for marketplace modules. While these modules save A LOT OF time, managing their updates and compatibility with new platform releases sometimes become a challenge. I know the latest release is addressing this, but it still requires careful planning and testing to avoid potential issues in production.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is really user friendly. And everytime i talk to business or deep techy guys it is easy for them to follow and understand!

Swiss army knife that beats high-coding in a ton of situations

  • December 12, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can start adding value from the get-go. This is achievable because the platform lets you focus on the business challenges instead of the technical details you need to focus on when building with alternative methods, such as what we low-coders call high-code. This does not mean that you are too limited. I would go so far as to say that for 80% of business-to-business or business internal processes, Mendix can easily supply a solution.

Mendix should not be confused with no-code or limited low-code platforms. You may build a custom application from the ground up. It will allow you to cut corners and reach your ROI much faster. If the platform can't provide a solution out of the box, know that the tech stack is Java, SQL, and JavaScript, so extending the server-side logic with Java or the client-side logic with JavaScript is still possible. As enterprise apps and even small business apps never work alone, integrations are effortless to achieve. By default, REST, OData, SOAP and DB connections are supported out of the box.

As I use the platform daily and I have done so for 14 years, I know it inside and out. I have even had short projects supplying Mendix R&D with my skill set. And have been appointed MVP since June this year. This is a fantastic program to support ecosystem developers with direct lines to Mendix R&D to achieve a quick feedback loop and an even better platform.

Even if you are not ready to buy Mendix yet it is super easy to get started, after you have build your first app, perhaps based on an Excel you have been struggling with you may deploy it to a sandbox and share the results with the rest of the world.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform has grown a lot since its first inception. This means the learning curve is growing for newcomers. The number of possibilities to learn more about the platform has grown, too, but that does mean that it takes a bit of studying to truly become good at using the Mendix platform. This, however, is no different from any other mature application platform. It is, on the other hand, not so visible from Mendix's marketing that claims that anyone can build an app with Mendix. This is true at its core, but the moment you start to build core applications for your business seriously, it is still very advisable to have developers who know more about software development than just the basics that you encounter when first starting with Mendix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mendix allows me to focus on adding value for my customers, far more then high-code ever did (I started as a high-coder early in my career).
Mendix is a full platform not just a coding language, allowing me to build, deploy, test, maintain and manage the whole software lifecycle.
