Analyzing product metrics for all product teams
What do you like best about the product?
Creating charts for different product areas. For e.g. retention, acquisition, conversion
What do you dislike about the product?
Session data relies on how Amplitude classifies a user session. There isn't an easy way to understand session duration, time between user sessions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping me understand conversion, usage and acquisition metrics mostly
Thorough product and consistently developing improvements with the analytics use-case in mind.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the Govern feature and also a lot of the different chart types (clusters, engagement matrix, any involving machine learning modeling). The documentation is pretty thorough as well which makes it easy to use. I haven't used any competitor products in over 2.5 years but starting out you were already better than Mixpanel was in my opinion.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think there could be better onboarding tools, like an onboarding 'course' of some sort -- I know there's the intro to amplitude webinar course but I find it's very surface level, and something more in-depth for Analysts (vs. business users) would be very useful. Like Looker's trainings and dbt trainings, for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for product success metrics, churn analyses, product feature analyses, and more. I struggle to put a $ value though on the benefit of Amplitude, as we haven't had direct revenue impact (though I'm sure there has been indirect impact).
Good experience with Amplitude Analytics
What do you like best about the product?
I like the easy integration with segment (and other similar tools) and also the out of box dashboard creation features that we get.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing major that I can think of, just that some of the out-of-box metrics names were not outrightly clear to me, maybe the names could be more generic/ explanatory.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Amplitude for analytics and dashboard creation and it has served the purpose nicely till now , we are able to see and analyze usage data.
Easily tracks our user activity with limited knowledge of metrics and analytics
What do you like best about the product?
The simple chart setup helps me to decide what information to report on while intuitively guiding me to analyze important metrics
What do you dislike about the product?
Difficulty in reporting across different platforms (e.g. US and Canada), would like to be able to combine platform usage to get 1 report
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Retention analytics are helping our company to pinpoint issues with certain cohorts of clients in order to target them better and see their activity rise
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Utilize support wherever required, lean on their expertise if you are not knowledgeable in gathering metrics. You will be successful!
Great full-fledged solution even for highly-regulated use cases!
What do you like best about the product?
As a health tech company, we operate in a heavily regulated environment with very burdensome requirements on how we capture, store, and utilize our user data. From day 1, the Amplitude team was amazing at working with us to identify the right solution for us, including dedicated data clusters that houses data stateside only. From there on, we've been quite happy with the robustness of the platform and the in-app analytics it allows.
What do you dislike about the product?
One knock would be one inherent with this class of monitoring tools, not unique to Amplitude - in order for us to analyze certain behaviors, we would have to first anticipate it and instrument the event ahead of time. This limits our ability to conduct emergent research - watching for any and all user behaviors and letting human eyes or AI to identify patterns that we wouldn't have known to have instrumented ahead of time. This is a small issue and is not a weight on our perception of Amplitude.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude has been a great tool to help us make data-driven product decisions, both before any product build to evaluate hypotheses and identify opportunities, as well as post-launch to measure effectiveness.
Flexible tool, amazing insights
What do you like best about the product?
Flexible chart options, user-friendly UI
What do you dislike about the product?
You really get out of it what you put into it, so if you're willing to put in the work you can get a ton of value
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a product org, we want to track user behaviors to guide the problems we focus on

State of the art
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to get to the data that you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much! It can be awkward to figure out how to map certain funnels.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Where our new users drop out during the signup funnel
Engineering Director that uses Amplitude a lot
What do you like best about the product?
Super quick to setup charts and comparisons to validate assumptions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unable to get specific events or anything in a table. Would also be cool if we could write a query using a SQL like syntax and get a draft.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product usage. Have found many broken behaviors over times with opportunities to fix and other successes.
Great for product analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude has a great interface for building decision-useful charts. For users who are not technical its great
What do you dislike about the product?
I do feel amplitude makes it difficult to parse out nuanced information on data. For more technical people, like myself, SQL is better for really digging into data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
better understanding user flows.
Product analytics and funnel data
Product analytics and funnel data
Very useful for self-serve analytics.
What do you like best about the product?
The biggest pain point Amplitude has relieved for us in Product Analytics is doing experiment readouts much more efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
We still run into instrumentation issues that are more difficult to debug in Amplitude.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are mostly using it for self-serve analytics, and have realized benefits in more efficient experimentation readouts, and ad-hoc data pulls.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you feel like your team is spending too much time on lower priority tasks, Amplitude can likely fix that issue.
