Amplitude Review
What do you like best about the product?
The variety of charts and the ability to create cohorts
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not a lot of flexibility to combine old and new events seamlessly (you can only create a new event to combine 2 events with Custom events).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding users' journeys
Helpful for app analytics
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to learn how to use the interface since there are a limited amount of report types. The company is quick to respond and make updates based on customer feedback - I see this product only getting better over time. Customer service is fantastic and helpful. Getting basic numbers such as how many people are doing x and how often is relatively straightforward, as well as building a funnel. I particularly like the "Group by" view in a Segmentation report, where you can breakdown an event by a property and see the percent which fall into each property value, such as as app installed broken down by country. These basic views are easy enough for the non techinical user to figure out, but there are more advanced ways to look at the reporting, such as with formulas, which can be really helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my opinion, there is a lot of room for improvement. I like to check data 2 ways to ensure it is telling me what I think it is telling me. I feel Amplitude is a bit rigid where there is really only one way to look at a report. For example, comparing funnels and pathing often don't align - I understand they are not the same, but I get really surprising/confusing results sometimes. It also does not do well mixing client-side and server-side events, breaking them into separate user streams altogether. I'm not too fond of the breakdown tables in the charts, which display dates horizontally rather than vertically, and this is how the exports look as well. Funnels don't show the percentages unless you hover over each bar, and it doesn't even show you the numbers per bar when you add the funnel to a dashboard. Lastly, because of the many display limitations I run into, I wish there was an Excel plugin to lay out the desired data and refresh it or make minor changes as needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We frequently look at how many users are impacted by a particular issue, which is sometimes hard to measure and understand. This goes back to my note about funnels and pathing reports often not aligning. We also like to look at our key funnels and measure the changes over time, whether through the conversion over time view or a date comparison, and it's also easy to create multiple segments to compare to one another side by side. Additionally, it's generally helpful for monitoring trends, and anomaly reporting, as well as report monitors (alerts), are very helpful. The anomaly alerts have an option to run a "root cause analysis" which can be great for identifying what is causing the increase or decline. In summary, we frequently use it for understanding our funnels, monitoring trends, and digging into when trends/numbers suddenly change. We would not have any clear insight into this without Amplitude.
Intuitive chart creation, a little scary at first but getting better every day.
What do you like best about the product?
I like how I can divide segments easily at the right of the chart settings, I like adding dashboards to the left menu because it makes it very organized. I also like the visualization of the charts. What I use the most are "event segmentation" and "funnel analysis".
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I want to create a funnel like this:
1. The user is part of "this" segment.
2. The user completed a payment
3. The user logged out
I want to be able to see the segment as a first step in the funnel in order to easily see the amount of people in it. I know amplitude is event-based but I think having this previous step so we can see the number of people in the segment would be very useful.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are getting A/B testing results and have made decisions based on what we see in the charts.
We use it every week for meetings to see how the numbers are going.
I think it's great that I don't need any knowledge in code to create very detailed charts.

It is great to make decisions, my recommendation would be to ask all the questions you have at the beginning when you get to talk to an expert. It was very useful for us to get familiar with the platfomr,
Robust but complex analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to to break down events by properties. And define clearly the segments for each chart.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the defaults proposed are complex and require diving deep in documentation in order to fully understand the definitions.

Very powerful analytics tool
What do you like best about the product?
Amplitude is very easy to use. Very intuitive. I've been able to track how new features and products perform after a launch. I've also used amplitude to gain valuable insights into user behavior and cohorts that have helped us to further optimize our funnels and features. Amplitudes support team is very responsive and super helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are almost TOO many features and tools to use! Getting more proactive outreach from their team to understand how we can use amplitude to specifically help us reach our goals and objectives would be phenomenal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use amplitude to track the performance of our funnels and features. Being able to quickly slice and dice data has also helped us dive deeper into who is failing and who is succeeding (for example mobile vs. desktop, different cohorts) and helps us understand where to best use time and resources to optimize existing products and features or where to focus energy on new ones.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend amplitude. Talk to their sales team if you're interested and they'll work with you to help you setup amplitude to meet your biz needs.
Great analytics tool for people of all backgrounds
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to create informative charts, no coding background necessary. The ability to save and share dashboards amongst team members provides for a very seamless experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more documentation about the various types of charts/formulas/functions. Often difficult to create something if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amplitude helps us (proactively) solve all types of business problems. Finding areas of opportunity is always great for the business. It's a great central location to compile all business data, and allows for quick, efficient analysis which allows us to make decisions very quickly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool - there are various types of analyses you can perform, so make sure to learn the functionalities as best as possible.
My Go to tool for every product analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Funnel Analysis is something which i find the best here because it can help me to see the entire funnel and stages individually.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it takes a long time to load massive datasets, and that's very natural, but it will be great if it can be improved to a certain extent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Majorly it helps me analyze the user behavior and improve it. I have been able to improve it drastically because i can see literally everything here.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You definitely should try it once and see the analytics on the dashboard. You will definitely find it helpful.
Amplitude is extremely customizable and crucial for monitoring how we're doing.
What do you like best about the product?
You can create extremely complex charts and analyses that help me measure how effective our changes are.
What do you dislike about the product?
Amplitude can appear to be too complex at first. It requires some getting-used-to at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
While Amplitude is great for a lot of app analytics, we specifically wanted to measure how new features affect our retention.
