I was using HAProxy in onprem and it was very helpful to manage multiple kubernetes control plane

The ease of setting up and creating virtual network to expose external and internal traffic

If they provide more features around service mesh and other things which can simplify network topology inside kubernetes

I can load balance both http/a and tcp services with one piece of software. Been a happy user since 2016

Custom config language has a slight learning curve. Web based config makes this much easier.
