Offers file versioning and never had any security issues, and it gives me notifications if anything unusual happens

  • April 23, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I generally use it when I want to share work stuff quickly with somebody else because OneDrive can be a pain in the ass.

I kind of just use it as it is without any integrations.

How has it helped my organization?

We use it for projects with multiple consultants. It's an easier way to gather all the information in a single place. That way, nobody has to ask for documentation. If something goes missing, it's at least all stored in Dropbox.

What is most valuable?

For me, the biggest thing is version history. I can easily go back and view older versions.

It's easy to use. Once it's installed on your laptop, you don't even have to think about it.

I like the file versioning. It's helpful if something goes missing or gets changed.

The security features of Dropbox seem pretty good. I've never had any security issues, and it gives me notifications if anything unusual happens.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes, the startup can be a bit slow, which is slightly irritating, but otherwise, I don't really struggle with it at all.

So, the performance could be faster.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've had no issues. It's always there and works perfectly fine. I use it daily.

The stability is pretty good. I would rate it a ten out of ten. I've never had an issue with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's definitely scalable, especially if you're willing to pay. I'd rate the scalability maybe a seven out of ten. Once I stop paying, it is an issue. The pricing can be a bit frustrating once I need to upgrade.

There are around 20 end users using it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I use Dropbox and Google Drive.

I use Dropbox more frequently for personal use. The company is trying to get us to move to OneDrive.

For me, when I started, the standard was Dropbox, so we went straight with that.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty easy - just click next, next, next. It takes less than five minutes.

What about the implementation team?

No technical team is needed. I can do it. It just a quick install.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We use a yearly license. It's not a bad price. I'd rate it about a five out of ten, with ten being expensive and one being cheap. It's not terrible, but it's also not the best compared to Google Drive, which is a lot cheaper.

There are no extra costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We use OneDrive. With OneDrive, we can work simultaneously on the same document, which can be quite useful. That's the main OneDrive functionality that I actually like.

What other advice do I have?

It's a pretty good product. I'd rate it about a nine out of ten overall. The only real issue is the pricing.

It's easy to use, works well for sharing, and isn't complicated at all. So, it's quite simple.

For me, personally, it's good value because I pay for it myself. I have all my documents stored conveniently, and I can use them across devices. It doesn't have to be my specific company device–I can use it on my personal devices as well. That's what makes it convenient.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like it! I can save my videos and photos on here and then delete them from my phone saved in my photo app that way I can have more storage on my phone to update apps and install apps and such!! It has a 2gb limit...which is fine.. So far I haven't experienced any issues..thankfully. I can go back and visit my uploaded videos anytime anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was overall good till the time they have updated the app. In the new update search option in pdf is not working or maybe they have disabled it. That is the biggest issue for me this increases my search time. I was somewhere not happy with the speed also, which is also not upto the mark now. If it is because they want to move the customers to the 'plus' or Premium version, then they have to loose few users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Excellent for securely storing, sharing, & protecting files online. Preferred number one over other cloud storage apps! Also great for team workflow processes, communication, & collaboration. Use as a sharepoint for business team members, shareholders, and/or affiliates. Highly recommended!
