Long time Dropbox User

What do you like best about the product?
When running a small office, one needs to have a form of virtual networking for all the different computers. Thanks to Microsoft, it is hard to make every box network to each other without expensive servers - but Dropbox came to the rescue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sharing files with others is great - and sharing with co-workers is also useful - but only if they have the same Dropbox size as you do. I have one co-worker who hits his 2 Gig limit all the time, and with my terabyte limit, we often can't use Dropbox, or we have to purge and create various sub-directories on my box. It takes a while to swap 2 gig shared drive folders. So this low limit of default 2 Gigs could be doubled - as today it is just too small...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the tech world, we share reference files on projects. With Dropbox, I can do this easily with various team members. I also like the Dropbox "public folder" links to share larger files- I hope this stays for a while. One negative is that increasingly file sharing platforms like Dropbox are being blocked by IT in our clients' businesses. Dropbox is seen as a potential threat unfortunately.

Offers good security features and is easy to deploy

  • April 12, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to keep track of the things that I use at my store.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature revolves around ensuring that my files are saved in another place in case I can't find them on my computer.

What needs improvement?

The product's high price is an area of concern where improvements are required. In terms of what my company uses the product for, I would say that the tool serves the purpose.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for five to six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

The product does not provide any service whenever there is a problem with the internet connection.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. I can buy more storage. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

I use the tool at a personal level.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company has experience with Microsoft Teams and Apple iCloud. I started to use Dropbox for my own personal use. I think Microsoft Teams just came as a part of Microsoft's package, a reason why I collaborate a little bit with it at work. Apple iCloud is for my own personal use.

How was the initial setup?

The tool is easy to deploy.

After the solution is deployed, I just create some commonly used files, and then I drop my documents in Dropbox.

The solution can be deployed in five to ten minutes.

The solution is deployed on a cloud model.

What was our ROI?

From an ROI perspective, I think that the tool has the ability to add a certain level of security to the files stored in it, which is helpful if my computer explodes or something.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company makes monthly payments towards the licensing charges associated with the product. I think it's a reasonably priced product. There is no need to pay anything extra apart from the payments towards the licensing charges associated with the product.

What other advice do I have?

The product was not very helpful in dealing with a project and improving collaboration.

I have not integrated the product with any other tools. I don't think it's necessary for me.

The security features of the product for data protection are good. I rate the security part a ten out of ten.

I can recommend the product to others who want to use it. It is easy to use. It is a stable and reasonably priced tool. I think the tool's performance is good.

I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
