  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to keep track of the things that I use at my store.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature revolves around ensuring that my files are saved in another place in case I can't find them on my computer.

What needs improvement?

The product's high price is an area of concern where improvements are required. In terms of what my company uses the product for, I would say that the tool serves the purpose.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for five to six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

The product does not provide any service whenever there is a problem with the internet connection.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. I can buy more storage. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

I use the tool at a personal level.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My company has experience with Microsoft Teams and Apple iCloud. I started to use Dropbox for my own personal use. I think Microsoft Teams just came as a part of Microsoft's package, a reason why I collaborate a little bit with it at work. Apple iCloud is for my own personal use.

How was the initial setup?

The tool is easy to deploy.

After the solution is deployed, I just create some commonly used files, and then I drop my documents in Dropbox.

The solution can be deployed in five to ten minutes.

The solution is deployed on a cloud model.

What was our ROI?

From an ROI perspective, I think that the tool has the ability to add a certain level of security to the files stored in it, which is helpful if my computer explodes or something.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company makes monthly payments towards the licensing charges associated with the product. I think it's a reasonably priced product. There is no need to pay anything extra apart from the payments towards the licensing charges associated with the product.

What other advice do I have?

The product was not very helpful in dealing with a project and improving collaboration.

I have not integrated the product with any other tools. I don't think it's necessary for me.

The security features of the product for data protection are good. I rate the security part a ten out of ten.

Helps users to easily access data from any geographical location

  • April 04, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

Dropbox provides a space where you can get all the required files, and you can also upload anything you require, like any kind of files or storage configurations, which you can then access directly from it.

What is most valuable?

If there is a network, you can access Dropbox from any geographic location. Sometimes, if you don't have a storage device with you, you can access your content from Dropbox, which is a major advantage of the tool.

What needs improvement?

In terms of the limitations, I see that if you use a mobile device that does not allow you to properly configure the email part with Dropbox, then you cannot access it. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement in the product.

I want to be able to upload certain configurations or setup files, like .exe files, on Dropbox. Sometimes, .exe files take time to get uploaded, or it doesn't get uploaded at all.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Dropbox at a personal level for two to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I use the product to generally store my documents. Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight and a half out of ten.

In every technology, there are new developments. No new technologies introduced in the market can be 100 percent perfect.

My colleagues, consisting of 11 or 12 people, use Dropbox in our organization.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I use Dropbox at a personal level. My company prefers to use Google Drive.

How was the initial setup?

I don't deploy the product since I am just an end user.

The time to deploy the product is something that depends on a user's network. If a user has a 5G network, the deployment won't take much time. The deployment takes time if you operate in a slow network environment.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

What was our ROI?

The product is worth the money. Irrespective of the geographical location that you are present in, and even if you don't have any storage devices, you can access your data and files with the help of Dropbox.

What other advice do I have?

With Dropbox, the integration part is simple to handle since it doesn't put forth many requirements. You just need to sync your data and emails with Dropbox, after which you can access your data from anywhere. There are some device specifications that you need to meet to be able to use the product, which may pose some limitations.

I recommend the product to others who plan to use it since it is a prominent tool in the market that always provides prompt support whenever you want to access it.

I am not used to the integration capabilities of the product since it is not something that is used in our company. My company mostly uses Google Drive and SharePoint in the professional environment.

In terms of data protection, the product provides security features. In some devices, if your mailbox is not synced, then you won't get any access to such emails in Dropbox. In Dropbox, you can set the permissions of who can access and who can view or download certain files. If you give someone your Dropbox access, you can give them permission to use it.

I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

  • January 18, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company since it helps us in the area of our internal testing. The area of document storage is connected directly with the solution.

How has it helped my organization?

The product can be integrated into a particular environment, especially the ones with products from Cisco.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it works fine. My company has no problem with the performance of the product.

What needs improvement?

The complex initial setup phase of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for a few years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is important for the solution. I have not seen any issues with the stability of the product.

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

The product is meant to be used in a very complex environment, so it is not easy to handle its setup phase.

Around 100 people in my organization use the product.

In the future, my company may increase the use of the product.

How are customer service and support?

My company directly deals with the tool's vendor if we need support.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was a little bit complex, but it was not a major problem for my company.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

Around ten people in my company oversee the product's deployment and maintenance.

What about the implementation team?

My company's in-house technicians took care of the product's deployment process.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the product to those who plan to use it in the future.

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

We can use Dropbox for free at an individual level. We can log in and upload our files. It is a cloud-based storage. We can upload our documents and important files. We must use multi-factor authentication so others cannot access our email IDs. I have uploaded more than 1000 files on Dropbox.

  • January 17, 2024

What is our primary use case?

We use Dropbox to store files in the cloud and share them with different people and sources.

What is most valuable?

Dropbox is an easy-to-use solution that has good stability.

What needs improvement?

The solution could provide more capacity for free.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for many years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Dropbox is quite a stable solution, and I don't have any problems with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Since it is cloud-based, Dropbox is a scalable solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used other storage tools like Google Drive. I prefer to use Dropbox to others because it is quite stable.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is very straightforward. You need to download this application to use it on your Mac, Windows, iPhone, or Android devices.

What about the implementation team?

You can install the solution yourself without any help. You need to install the application, then register with your email address, and that's it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am using the free version of Dropbox. Users need to pay to increase the solution's capacity.

What other advice do I have?

Dropbox is a cloud-based solution.

Dropbox is a nice solution to use if you have nothing to hide or aren't afraid that others will view some secrets because you don't know how the company protects them. If you store normal files you don't care much about, you can use Dropbox.

Overall, I rate Dropbox a nine out of ten.

Makes sharing and collaboration on files easy

  • December 08, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Dropbox primarily for exchanging data with customers.

What is most valuable?

What I like about Dropbox is how easy it is to share and collaborate on files with customers. It is straightforward and works seamlessly.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement in Dropbox's security measures. Some customers opt for a private solution they have developed because they prioritize a higher level of security.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for a few months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had any major stability issues with Dropbox.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability isn't a top priority for our needs at the moment, so we haven't specifically requested high scalability for our storage. Typically, custom solutions aren't inherently very scalable. This is why integrating with a cloud solution like Dropbox makes sense for us - it offers the scalability we might need in the future without worrying about it. At our company, we have teams of five to ten people in larger groups with around 100-150 users. It helps us cater to different-sized teams and projects.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very simple. Setting up our solution doesn't require a big team; usually, a couple of people are enough for deployment. One person handles the project deployment, and we use internal resources for ongoing maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Dropbox is fairly priced with a yearly license.

What other advice do I have?

I wouldn't recommend Dropbox based on my experience. For customers and managers dealing with scientific data, a custom solution might be preferable, and that is why we lean towards it. Even if someone is considering a shift to the cloud, we prefer a more tailored approach rather than using Dropbox. Overall, I would rate Dropbox as an eight out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

Provides good stability, but the data recovery feature for the free version needs improvement

  • December 07, 2023
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Dropbox to store files and pictures.

How has it helped my organization?

The application helps free up storage space on my phone. I mostly have all the data in Dropbox.

What is most valuable?

The product's most valuable feature is storage.

What needs improvement?

The product's data recovery feature for the free version needs improvement. Once, I had lost all the data. When I contacted the support team, they were unable to retrieve it. They should archive the data.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dropbox for more than ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product has good stability. However, it has some performance issues. It needs a better warehouse for data backup. They should provide more storage for the free version.

How are customer service and support?

The response from the technical support team could be faster. They sometimes take two days to reply to an email, whereas sometimes, they respond in two hours. There is nothing specific.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. It takes two to three minutes to complete. I can easily use it on the desktop, web, and mobile. It is well-integrated with Google and a few other email providers.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Dropbox for personal use, as it is a free tool. You can store data and ensure security. I rate it a seven out of ten.
