Application developer for USAF.
What do you like best about the product?
Rapid development. Easy to use IDE and great features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation is outdated. While you can sort of figure out how to apply the documentation to the new version, the screen shots are different and terminology is sometimes different as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have automated many of our scheduling and training processes. Additionally, by storing the data in a centralized database, we can easily analyze perfomance.
Nimble platform / Strong technical expertise / Visibility to our data for the first time!
What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Vinyl to build modern interfaces to a backend database built on SQL. We have been building new "modules" of our platform using Vinyl, and partnering with the team has been nothing short of amazing. The technical resources are knowledgeable, communicate well, turn around functionality in a short time, and have been able to deliver value in weeks. We are also able to view and report on our backend data in ways we have never been able to in the past. I would highly recommend this product and the team to others looking to modernize software, improve business processes, and create new views into data and business insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
The current Zudy/Vinyl website doesn't do a good job of showcasing capabilities. I would recommend updating it to showcase more case studies and an overview of platform offerings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building modern interfaces for our home-grown software. Creating business processes to augment collection of data for our Finance and Corporate Operations functions. Reporting across multiple platforms through the Vinyl solution.
Great Low Code Experience
What do you like best about the product?
Great app development experience. Architects and developers involved in the project are extremely proficient on both how to build applications and on the Zuzy / Vinyl platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this point of the app. development, there's nothing I have found that I dislike, on the contrary, the more I learn about Vinyl, the more happy and impressed I am with the capabilities of Vinyl. Gladly impressed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my particular case, we are solving the problem of turning a pen and paper inspection into a digital mobile solution that will go above and beyond, giving extra benefits for the users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Refresh your Data Modeling knowledge and start enjoying the benefits of low coding with Zudy and Vinyl.
Lesscode development tool
What do you like best about the product?
Vinyl is a quick and less code development tool to create data forms, reports. dashboards etc
What do you dislike about the product?
The internal queries that VInyl builds are sometimes heavy on data performance and slowness. More security and single sign on
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the backend SQL stored proc compiled logic to better the tool's data performance issues. So the tool can get better by utilizing underlying database stored procedures so resolve performance issues
If we had Vinyl 10 years ago, we would already be billionaires.
What do you like best about the product?
It is extremely easy to use and fast. I can not believe the amount of flexibility in the product to develop complex applications. After reviewing four different low code products, Zudy wins hands down.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly do not have any dislikes, we have been able to solve every issue that has popped up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the issue of receiving different file types from customers and having to execute 4 different scenarios and then send those via API to outside companies. We were able to build a new application in 60 days that took us well over 18 months in a .NET environment.
Vinyl is an excellent tool for quickly developing business applications.
What do you like best about the product?
The tools and knowledge base available for learning Vinyl is quite extensive. Tutorials are well thought out and run you through real world application development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Vinyl is a powerful platform, but I would recommend that you have some background in application development. Some tutorials on basic dev would be beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Vinyl to develop a suite of standardized data collection and reporting tools across our company. Productivity, as well as data accuracy, has improved by having standardized interfaces over a common database.
Vinyl User
What do you like best about the product?
Multiple apps all using the same core data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Crystal reports are sometimes challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Master Data Management & Development of new SKU's.
Mature, Stable, full-featured platform for application deployment
What do you like best about the product?
I've been developing low-code / no-code applications to help my Team and my Clients for 15 years now, and Vinyl represents an evolutionary step in the capability of this technology. An application can progress from an idea to a proof-of-concept in hours - not weeks, or months. The online training is comprehensive, so I was able to quickly ramp-up. There is an active community of app developers who are willing to share their know-how, and a knowledge-base that is a permanent record of questions and answers from the developers. In short, Vinyl is a powerful platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the development work I've done, I don't have a complaint. The platform has worked as expected, the technology is mature, and if I don't know how to achieve something I can get help from the Wiki, or ask a Question on the Forums, or even ask for specific help. The support team has also been easy to work with when I've asked for help at the database server level. My observation is that the capabilities of Vinyl are huge (hello REST APIs, Widgets, Workflow, etc.,), and I don't have time to learn about those capabilities at the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been building a suite of applications to improve the delivery capabilities of my Consulting Business, and to provide a differentiator between my business and my competitors. The applications I have developed are a significant improvement on the ideas I had when I started - I can now deliver powerful dashboards for individuals and teams that were not possible 10 years ago.
The application tool in general is a good one to use , however the recent upgrade has some flaws.
What do you like best about the product?
From deployment perspective , its fairly efficient, configuration and installation of Vinyl app is also easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The recent upgrade has some flaws, passwords are not encrypted, some of the pages do not show complete info on the screen like ... to deploy an LP, the screen is small, and the full path is not visible. When you click 'Install,' no indication that the system is performing a task, the previous version did have some indication.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
From what I understand , provided proper sql queries are used its an ideal tool for reporting. As a member of dev ops team , its easy to spin up a new instance , integrate with AD.
VINYL has been a powerful tool to facilitate rapid application development
What do you like best about the product?
I've built many applications in VINYl under compressed timelines. VINYL has several advantages to accomplish this. I can prototype quickly, implementing data schema and user interfaces as I go. I can leverage APIs from external providers, as well as build internally configured ones between VINYL apps. From an efficiency perspective, security through roles and groups is built in, simply requiring some configuration. I've used advanced features when needed to take advantage of custom scanner behavior and other types of peripherals.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've seen VINYL extend many of its features and its general ease of use over time. One critical improvement would be a mechanism to undo changes or potentially roll back to an established milestone during the development process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've implemented all manner of solutions with VINYL, including line of business applications involving warehouse management, call centers, shipping, and billing. I've also used VINYL for a single straight-forward function like fulfilment that needed to be available within a week. VINYL's two biggest benefits to me are rapid development and centralization. Larger projects should still establish good planning artifacts, but its really nice to find everything in one place and be able to turn changes around during the course of a review meeting.
