Amazing way to use different operating system in a mac enviroment

  • February 07, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use several linux, windows 7, windows 10 machines without rebooting my machine and it has an awesome integration with the host operating system.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be resourse intensive when using windows as a target OS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I need to use programs that are available only in windows or linux and with Fusion i I don't need to change between machines or keyboards to do what i need to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's the best software for virtualization in mac, it's expensive but worth the price

VMWare Fusion: A suitable solution for platform specific software

  • January 22, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I liked that I could swipe back and forth between my screens on my Mac to access PC-only programs, like Articulate Storyline. Copy/Paste generally worked well. I could access all my computer's files from it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes up a huge amount of space and would "suspend" if I was going over bandwidth and interrupt my work. I'd clear up the requested amount of space and it still wouldn't work. Also encountered a glitch where sometimes I couldn't access Internet from the Windows application even though my Mac was connected just fine. Resetting the network wouldn't always fix it and often would have to reboot the whole system to hopefully fix it. Copy/Paste was also inconsistent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Articulate Storyline which is only available on PC. So we purchased Fusion so we could remain on our Macs. We've recently purchased actual PC computers, though, and use a program called Synergy to run both computers with the same mouse and keyboard, and I can remote desktop into it from my Mac. This presents new inconveniences but solves the problems I mentioned above.

Great for virtual Windows machines!

  • December 28, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can use Fusion to create both temporary and permanent VMs (using either the Windows Trial licenses for temporary or a full paid license for a permanent machine), so it's great to use the free trials for when I only need a temporary machine to test software for a few weeks at a time.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not too much to dislike! I do find that the fan tends to run louder on my MacBook when the Fusion VM is active, but then again, that could be because I haven't cleaned the dust out in about 3 years...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Fusion to spin up temporary Windows VMs whenever I need to do software testing with software that may or may not be compatible with programs already on my main Windows computer. I also use it to keep a permanent Windows 10 Professional VM that I use as a complete backup of my main working computer, which completely saved me a few months ago when my main computer had a hardware failure that prevented me from using it for about 6 weeks. Thanks to the Fusion VM, I was able to keep working during that period with no loss of continuity!

My impressions

What do you like best about the product?
One of the things that impressed me most in this wonderful application was the fact of allowing MAC to have almost all the functionalities of a virtual machine manager in Windows.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I did not like so much is that the visual part I see a little old or at least can improve.
Additionally, on some occasions we have reported failures when executing an ISO image, thus having to configure or alter the configuration of the application so that it works correctly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very good to implement small environments for software testing.
In addition this application has benefited us to the preparation of our technicians at the level of software implementation through the practice in vm fusion
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It really is very fun to use and it is very good to use it in companies that require technicians making prubeas and other issues related to these

Invaluable Virtualization Software

  • November 20, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The VMware Fusion software allows to network simulation with a multitude of virtual machines deployed. The flexibility is exceptional. The ability to create a private networks for the virtual machine on the host machines is amazing. This lends to the VMware Fusion software being an invaluable testing and demonstration tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The VMware Fusion software does not have a map view of virtual machines on the network you create.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A flexible and dependable platform that supports virtualization of virtual machine as appliances or operating system deployments with various addressing configurations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The VMware Fusion software is available as a trial, so you can get familiar with the software. I recommend the Pro version of the software because it makes creating flexible networks much easier.

Good Virtualization Software

  • September 21, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I was using VirtualBox on my Mac for virtualization and it felt very outdated and slow, lagging the system every now and then. Switched over Fusion and it worked like a charm, everything was easy and quick, being able to use Windows programs at full speed on my mac is a great help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Copying over from the local machine to the main machine can be a bit irritating, I feel like that is one sphere they could do better. Also although much better priced than Parallels I still think it's a tad bit overpriced.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to use Windows programs side by side on Mac has been a lifesaver, I can basically run all the software I need on one machine, platform independent.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking to run Windows apps on your mac, Fusion is the way to go, although I'd recommend using the trial version first which makes it easier for you get value for your money.

Great virtualization platform for macOS

  • September 01, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A feature-rich virtualization platform that works well on macOS. Allows you to run virtually any OS on your Mac, and does it well. The Pro version has a strong feature set, allowing management of vSphere/ESXi servers. Another plus are the frequent updates to the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
The upgrade price of new versions, which are typically released on an annual basis, could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows one to run Windows or Linux on their Mac, something that is very useful for developers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Also look into the Parallels product.

Windows Virtual Machine for Mac is Tweaky

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that there is an option for running necessary-for-work windows OS applications in my Mac OS environment
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate how it minimizes everything on its desktop view. In order to make it viewable, the screen resolution must be changed, and that's an inconvenience for a number of reasons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves access to Oracle based applications we need to use. I haven't realized any real benefits.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Suck it up and deal with it, and be glad your primary job doesn't require you to use the Windows Virtual machine regularly.

Works well, useful

What do you like best about the product?
Pretty easy to use. But Parallels Desktop beats VMWare Fusion on features, setup and the fact it can inherit an existing bootcamp win partition.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to Parallels Desktop, with Fusion it's WAY harder to install Windows and there's a lot more setup to do it seems. I have both, but just use Parallels now, so have currently no Win installs on Fusion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Good to be able to run Win on a Mac for client support sessions
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at Parallels also, one great feature, Parallels can inherit a virtual machine from Bootcamp, so you can run (the same copy of) win natively if software problems arise and need diagnosis. That's far easier with virualisation out of the picture

A valuable tool for development

What do you like best about the product?
The possibility that i can use the same VM with Fusion on Mac and also with VmWare Player/Workstation on Windows.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that i dislike. Sorry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are developing on Mac OS X and deploy to Mac, Linux and Windows. VmWare Fusion allows us to test our software on Fusion VMs with Linux and Windows.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try Fusion and you´ll we see it´s power
