A great remote tool for fast research

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tests have a fast turnaround and it's great to recruit qualified users so quickly
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of their business model is charging you for quality of life / convenience updates. A base package may limit your users, and for a LOT more money you get a couple more people. This can be frustrating when all you need is something small like one more admin user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
UserTesting is great for remote unmoderated user tests. It's best for quick feedback on simple concepts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn UserTesting's limitations. It's not great with linear prototypes. You need to screen carefully if your users are niche.

What do you like best about the product?
Having a focus group for your brand is always expensive. However, UserTesting will give you a great opportunity of how your target audience feel about your website.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you haven't tried any other testing tools, it might look a little bit pricey.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How users use/feel about our website. Sometimes, homepage sliders are annoying to the users.

Great tool for remote user testing and democratising research at your company!

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast access to users and fast turn around. It also allows non researchers to get involved in user research. It allows easy gathering of insights across product and design.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you're looking for specific niche user groups it might be slow or difficult to get them through usertesting.com. However try to plan around this. If you're looking for participants that are members of for example your company's loyalty scheme plan more time for recruitment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Usertesting allows me to get signals regarding direction for product development as well as reach users in remote points of sale such as USA or UK. It's also a great tool for democratising easier research projects amongst your product or design teams. This not only can increase your capability for running research but also proactively spread user empathy within your team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think UserTesting has great capability to be used in conjunction with other tools. Consider adding some qualitative insights to your quantitative card sort via funneling some of the participants to user testing. You can also pilot questionnaire understanding using user testing, I think it's a great tool that can be used to gage whether understanding of concepts about which you're asking in consistent. Also think about how you can include other members of your organisation in research and watching insights. A great way is just sharing the test videos with your stakeholders so that they can watch them in their free time. This promotes great user empathy!

Fantastic for both Company and User.

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I'm in the position where I've tried usertesting on both sides of the coin ; for my company [most of the time] and as a tester myself.

Company
Intuitive dashboard and filtering options to really target those who matter to your case study. This is critical to gather feedback that's pertinent to your project/idea.

User
It's hard to argue with $10/test paid via Paypal, right?
What do you dislike about the product?
There's honestly nothing that jumps into mind.

I've used the product for years and years, so it's been constantly improving in that time. It's only going to get better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I tend to buy users to test my website builds or apps - some for myself and some for my clients. I love hearing their disparate opinions. You'd be amazed at how many non-techy folks have fantastic feedback. I guess it takes being 'out of the loop' in order to see these kinds of things.

The benefits have been massive for us - we're constantly reiterating our projects in accordance with feedback. It's a valuable tool for us and most likely always will be!

Great way of getting quick, reliable feedback

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how quick the feedback cycle is. Using other channels/methods of validating ideas/designs can take much longer and delay project or company direction.
What do you dislike about the product?
UserTesting can be on the more expensive side compared to other tools on the market. However, I firmly believe this investment will pay for itself as long as it becomes part of your product design cycle.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How do users interact with the product, what are their main pain points, does the intended solution solve these pain points.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't let cost deter you, it's an investment and a tool that will become invaluable.

UserTesting helps us validate or kill ideas, fast.

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The speed in which we can launch tests, but mostly, the fact that they have the best user panel to test products. I also like the abundance of features user testing comes with... it's remarkable, especially when compared to thier other competitors.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would have liked to see the user panel be a bit more diverse. They have a lot of users in some countries, but not so much in other places in Europe. I would also love it to have more features around organising the videos. Right now, studies cannot be mereged with other studies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for 3 types of tests. Testing for prototypes is probably the most popular one - we use this to validate ideas, fast, and this is the most powerful tool in my opinion. We use it to test our live product, this helps us find areas we would like to improve and helps us see our users interacting with our site as they speak their minds - this we usually do with our use-base. And finally, we use it to test competitors websites. Its of extreme value to see users testing your competitors websites.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's expensive, but it's got the best user-base. We have looked at several tools when we were about to sign another year, and it really boiled down to their userbase. The amount of time (and money) we save when compared to other products is remarkable.

Get to know your user in minutes

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
After designing a new feature I can validate it with my target in a matter of minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Depending who your target is you can encounter difficulties to find it in the User Testing panel.
I would include other feature such us card sorting, heat map, etc...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now I can maximise the impact of a feature quickly and with an accuracy I didn't have before.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Is an expensive too but is worth it the time and the money.

My review for UserTesting

  • April 01, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a user experience designer, I find User Testing very helpful in understanding users because it's easy to set up interviews, customize and also share. Collecting valuable information and marking the important information from users are important and I like that feature. It's also easy to share with my team and this is valuable because I can use this to define and understand our users.
What do you dislike about the product?
I love UserTesting but the price is a bit expensive for one test. Also because sometimes I have a hard time creating questions, maybe having some suggestion/machine learning to help provide better questions or context of what we could potentially ask to get the results we want.

I do find UserTesting difficult to test in an Enterprise environment when the users are actual company employees. I can use UserTesting to define a design astethic but for best experience, it's tricky and different.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits I find with UserTesting is have a connection with users who can provide a better insight of what I am trying to solve and also discover something I hadn't thought about.
