User Testing Made Easy

  • March 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how simple it is to use and and the quality of the candidates that use the platform. We can quickly gain insight within a day or even hours of posting our test. The feedback mechanism given back from UserTesting has been extremely instrumental in validating products and experiences.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally you'll get "power users" who just click through tests and you don't really gain insight from those users. If they could filter out these users in some format that'd be helpful going forward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User validation as quickly as possible and A/B testing as well. We are trying to improve our users experience without deploying in-product changes on the fly. By using UserTesting we can validate these in a secluded environment without affecting our main site traffic.

The main benefits have been the amount of tests we can run simultaneously.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
N/A

Best customer feedback tool I've used.

What do you like best about the product?
There are two things that really make UT stand out over other platforms I've used.
1. The speed at which you get feedback (I've never had a test take more than a couple hours).
2. The fact they have built the product around iterative testing. Other platforms I've used make you go deep on the initial design and don't allow for flexibility once you've received your first feedback. UT allows you to pivot your tests based on the feedback you receive.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to dislike with UT, I think my main complaint is the price.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in a university incubator and we have pivoted the application of a dozen technologies based on the feedback we got through UT.

Love UserTesting!

What do you like best about the product?
Being at a startup, things move really quickly and I need research results fast! UserTesting allows me to run research studies end-end within a week and provide valuable feedback to my team!
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing I dislike! It works great! The only thing is I wish it costs less.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use UserTesting to run A/B tests and usability tests. Aside from product testing, I also used it during our rebrand and tested different brand color treatments and marketing collateral.

Still the gold standard

What do you like best about the product?
UserTesting has a large pool of qualified participants so I can get answers quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface for setting up studies is complicated. It's easy to mess up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've tested everything from product and branding concepts to complex workflows. It's quick so we can easily iterate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's expensive but still cheaper than traditional research methods.

UserTesting helps gather customer insights

  • March 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using UserTesting for a variety of reasons but specifically to gather customer insights through usability studies. It provides an easy to use interface and often I have early results within minutes. I love the UserTesting recording feature which often helps me understand the user behavior, cognitive load and decision making for the end users.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see more role-based controls, advanced search and richer dashboard for analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Usability studies - helps shaping product, feature or service design/improvement.

UserTesting Review

  • March 27, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the large and diverse audience that you have built. Very easy to complete testing.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I specifically dislike. I think that, when building the test, it is a little tricky to choose a type of question and then populate that question.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly design related problems around new prototypes. We have been able to greatly refine our prototypes before sending them out to the public. We have yet to have a new screen or flow cause anger because we've worked out all the bugs beforehand.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try. It has an easy to use interface and the right tools to help usability testing.

Big fan!

  • March 27, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I'm a big fan of using the platform! The ability to capture quick feedback from our target customers couldn't be easier or quicker. You can launch and complete a study in a single day. Or, if you're like me, you can launch a study on a Friday afternoon (while sipping your favorite beverage), and review all the responses on Monday morning (while sipping your favorite coffee). Share the videos with colleagues, or export the results and share with the team. It couldn't be easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of the time analyzing the results is takes longer than launching the study. There's nothing wrong with that, it just requires time and focus. Watching all of the videos can be a little tedious, but also fairly informative. I'd love a way to get high-level insights quickly and then dig into areas of particular interest or intrigue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use UserTesting to get quick feedback from our customers. As mentioned above, launching a study couldn't be easier, and getting results is usually fairly quick. If there was a way to get to insights faster, this would be a grand slam!

UserTesting is an indispensable tool to any good UX Designer :)

  • March 27, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It allows to setup a test, get result, analyse them and act on them extremely fast. If you were to do real world lab test the process would take weeks, here it usually takes me a day from test ideation to analysis.

I like that when a test doesn't go the way it should have been (poor audio, testers tested the wrong thing, etc) UserTesting.com will always replace the test with another one in a matter of minutes. And because it's so fast to get something tested, the lost time does not make any difference into my day. It's an excuse to get another coffee.

I also like that you can do split groups (A/B) to test variations of design and that User Testing will randomized in which order they are seen to remove bias.
What do you dislike about the product?
The users in UserTesting default panels sometime seem like experts. Because they know the tool and are paid to use it they are de facto professional testers. When something seems easy to them I like to take it with a grain of salt - and build another test.

Conducting remote testing allows to gain efficiency but it requires to write test scenario a certain way, to make sure that you don't create bias or send testers the wrong way. It's a skill that needs practice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been using UserTesting to validate concept, validate problems, validates flows. It allows me to: select the right experience, enhances experiences, prioritize the right problem to go after.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Always to a dry run of your test (launch one test) to make sure that the language is understood, tasks are in the right order, prototype does not bug, then roll out to another 5 testers to get the right number of testers per Nielsen Norman recommendation.

It took some time to get going, but worth the effort

  • March 27, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are many positive aspects to UserTesting, but the speed of getting responses to a question is my favorite benefit. It is easy to set up a survey, and responses start to flow in after about ten minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some elements of UserTesting's package that may be useful to other organizations but that we don't use. It may be that we are simply naive, or very simple in our approach, but I don't see a time when we will need the consulting/help services that UserTesting offers. I would rather that development concentrated on make the product simpler than giving personal services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understanding user reactions to proposed flows and design changes are the biggest areas of benefit for us. As a result of using UserTesting, we are not spending time developing UI/UX that our users don't like
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it, but have a plan for usage before you start. Know what you want to get out of it.
