Long story short, Sage is the best ERP I have worked with but .....

What do you like best about the product?
I literally like all aspect of Sage Intacct. The AR, AP and GL Modules are just so easy to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike very much about Sage Intacct is that the UDF does not flow from AP/AR modules to the GL module which it makes the reporting so much harder.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consolidating 6 entities is just clicks away. Closing in 5 days.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd totally recommend Sage Intacct over NetSuite, QuickBooks or Xero.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Generally good, but some bugs

  • October 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Intacct for our purposes is that it is cloud based. We have employees all over the world, and we couldn't possibly use it otherwise. The interface is generally good, though it can be confusing (the old UI was easier to use and teach others). It is nice that we can attach instruction documents in specific modules though. The ability to link bank accounts to automatically import bank transactions sounds great, though we haven't been able to set it up yet. Also, the level of possible customization is helpful, but can also be dangerous. Overall, it does what we need it to do.
What do you dislike about the product?
The change to the newer Action UI removed the ability to open or approve purchasing requests or Time & Expense reports from the dashboard, which made the dashboard much less useful. And each update seems to cause bugs that break something else, particularly our customizations. The most recent was the ability to delete attached files in an existing folder. These are generally fixable, but it is a pain to correct bugs after every update.

Also, Manage Views does not show every field, which would be very helpful. For instance, we added a "permanently declined" checkbox to help avoid declined requests from being resubmitted (though it's still possible, so this is just a deterrent), but this field can't be added to the approval views to allow us to easily spot these requests and avoid approving them should they be resubmitted. In addition, the Favorites menu, while a good idea, doesn't show where an option is, so there are issues like an option just saying "approve transactions" with no identifier of what kind of transactions. The one for T&E says "approve expenses", which is much more helpful.

The new bank reconciliations module is also much more difficult to use than the old one if you need to upload transactions. The import process is confusing, and If you have to save and later reopen a reconciliation, you lose the bank tab so you can no longer see and match the transactions. The bank data is still there though, as if you upload again, you have duplicate transactions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to coordinate employees all over the world, and only those with the poorest of internet connections have issues using it. The benefits I covered in the first question.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider less complicated software like Sage 50 if you are small US company. I think Intacct is a little too robust for most smaller companies.

Intaact as employee

  • October 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the design of Sage Intacct aesthetically. It's a pleasant application to use in it's design. The wide array of information and functions available is also a huge plus!
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the navigation to be a bit tricky, the menus sometimes house too many areas and it can be overwhelming to find what you're looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an employee, I use Intacct for time tracking and management of time off. Being able to see the amounts of time I have remaining for the year is easy and clearly displayed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As a user, this product meets my needs for time tracking.

Intacct is a versatile platform if you have the time and resources to configure it properly.

  • October 21, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform continues to become easier to use with each and every update. Key features I've enjoyed and appreciated are the following: sorting through pending tasks, establishing workflows with various stakeholders, and a very robust audit trail. Varying user access and permissions via groups is great. While I'm not responsible for creating custom variables and workflows, they appear to be flexible and have the ability to really save our staff time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unable to automate certain things without some external tools, plugins, or developing web-hook tools, namely disabling a user's account when they are offboarding automatically on their last day of employment. Being unable to update a username to respect a preferred name or surname is a bit archaic and disrespectful. Establishing templates for user accounts would save a lot of time to get new users the permissions they need immediately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My use case in Sage Intacct does not really address or solve any problems. In my role I primarily utilize the platform for understanding how much time off is available to me, my timesheets, however the organization relies on the systems within Intacct to handle invoicing, payments, and all accounting needs. As an IT admin, I simply create new user accounts and disabled outgoing staff accounts within the platform, not any actual accounting.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The learning curve to getting familiar can be steep, as it's functions and use case are very much determined by a user's role and department. Once you understand the Sage Intacct environment, it's pretty easy to complete your specific tasks quickly, however navigating to new or unfamiliar functions of Intacct often requires additional training or time.

Take your time to understand how to navigate between the different menus and be sure to "star" your most heavily used items so you can quickly get to what you need.

I'd also like to point out that our instance of Intacct, and I'm sure most, require you to fill in three different fields to sign in, all of which are case sensitive. Due to the sign in being three different fields, saving your password may not always work, or may experience issues whenever you opt to update your password. If your organization utilizes Single Sign On (SSO) you won't experience this issue as often.

Get your Intacct Admins to make custom workflows. Test them heavily, and update them regularly.
