Fastest ROI we've ever seen!

What do you like best about the product?
For customers using central DHCP management, the Umbrella deployment is as simply as deploying an on-prem VA (or more) and redirecting your DHCP clients to the Umbrella VAs. That, plus a few settings in the cloud portal to define your internal domains, and you're good to go! This deployment took a grand total of 3 days, and actually would have taken less had we not had a few sites that were still doing DHCP on the local router. Additionally, this product gives us so much more visibility than we had before, and the OpenDNS connectors that we had to install on our DC DNS servers allow us to even attribute traffic to specific users without having to cross reference with other systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
So far we honestly don't have any complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have closed the gap between our larger offices that do have firewalls for web filtering, and our smaller offices that used to have to rely on Cloud Website Security installed on each endpoint for filtering. Now it doesn't matter where we have a firewall. We still have a layer of web filtering for each and every device on our entire network. Adding ACLs to prevent DNS circumvention have made this a very robust and seamless product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ask your Cisco rep for a POC and I guarantee you'll be amazed at how simple this is to set up.

Cisco Umbrella

What do you like best about the product?
Intelligent blocking of internet traffic and reporting allows us to control what is moving in and out of our network and who is making the attempt, allowing us to correct any problems
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a little complex to set up initially, but works well once policies are in place
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prevents access to unauthorized content, potentially hazardous sites and command and control traffic through our internet connection
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get it. Now. Don't wait

The first layer of security

  • July 30, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've used Cisco Umbrella/OpenDNS at my current and previous employer. In the multi-layer security of my systems, this is first and foremost at the top. It stops malware attacks, phishing, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much to dislike. A feature that would be helpful is alerting when something gets blocked (like command & control or phishing).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security and piece of mind. Knowing many of our security issues can be solved by securing the DNS Lookup that Umbrella does is great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can't go wrong here.

Umbrella is Total DNS Security

  • July 25, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
All traffic is routed through the Umbrella servers. I noticed an immediate increase in speed and time to first byte from websites. Everything loads much quicker, with images located on CDN's even loading faster.
What do you dislike about the product?
The service fee - but in this case the small fee is far worth the saved time. There is a small need for an "admin" who knows how to setup and maintain users, but nothing heavy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Phishing attack attempts, viruses, user error (typo correction), log creation for accountability. We block certain sites that are known attack sites or out of country to prevent 'what if' scenarios.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try with and without the client enabled, compare ping times, time to first byte and general loading times of websites. There is a clear difference.

I appreciated the simple way I could whitelist and blacklist different sites for young users at the public library
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not easy to install, especially not for those with limited computer literacy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to help librarians block children's games which were infecting computers with malware files

Open DNS opens the internet for your family and church

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OpenDNS is super easy to set up and once setup in your router covers all devices connecting to it. It’s very good at filtering inappropriate content like pornography or many other categories that are laid out
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s unfortunate though that If users have administrative access to their internet settings they could bypass the dns lookup setting that keep OprnDns working.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a church we provide public access to internet and feel good about doing our part to prevent inappropriate content and scams from reaching our users

Great for blocking harmful websites

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have been using OpenDNS for several years now and it is a great and easy to use personal security system. Very affordable as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface could be a little easier to use, but once you get used to it, it is fine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use it to block harmful websites through our entire network. The benefits have been peace of mind since I set it and forget it.

Great Option

  • July 13, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a technician, I enjoyed the ease of navigation throughout the interface. There was no confusion as to where I had to go for what my goal was.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much really, they could clean up the button design if anything! I think the solution overall is fantastic really!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was simple to route our VPN and servers through this for Web filtering, which was an additional support onto our SA.
