Powerful process data analysis tool with great support
What do you like best about the product?
The searching/filtering and analysis tools are easy to use. The user interface is quick and responsive. Product updates with new, customer-requested features are released frequently. Customer service has been quick and reliable to help us with special requests and to provide quick support when needed. There is an easily accessible "help" section and support chat functionality that helps make the barrier to getting help with any issues very low.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a little bit of a learning curve in using all of the analysis features, so it takes some initial practice to become proficient in using the application to its full potential.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
TrendMiner has given us the capability to do many things that used to be very time-consuming, allowing us to more frequently and more rapidly identify likely contributors to process issues. We have used it for comparing good vs. bad process startups by using the searching and layering tools. We have used the influence factors and recommendation engine correlation analysis to identify contributors to uptime losses.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The customer service has been very good and product updates are frequent based on customer feature requests, so TrendMiner is clearly customer-focused and growing.

Speedy Insights
What do you like best about the product?
Allows you to manipulate trends and data for really quick insights that would take too many hours and be too cumbersome of a task to achieve in traditional trending client or excel. Also TrendMiner engineers are very hands-on helpful and often have manufacturing experience - don't shy away from any problem. When requesting help thru the platform, they practically fight to be the one to help.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything about TrendMiner so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a young engineer that's not quite a "SME", TrendMiner has been tremendous in helping me become more intimate with our processes and to visualize and align engineer fundamentals I'm learning and things like inspection reports (i.e. how tube fouling affects boiler efficiency at different loads). It also helps me see if there's any substance to hypotheses that are thrown around about process behaviors. It's important to understand that no tool will replace process knowledge. You need to develop process knowledge or already have it if you expect to get places with TrendMiner.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It can take some time to get good at using TrendMiner, especially if the problem you're tackling is more complex. There's a lot of built-in capabilities that it can be confusing trying to understand what's applicable for the type of problem you're tackling. Don't be shy to inquire the help of TrendMiner engineers. Also expect to do some leg work in learning about your process if you're not already a SME.

What do you like best about the product?
Speed of the inquiry and the menu driven design. The search capability and the ability to statistical compare is very helpful in understand differences.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the PI AF features are still not full flushed out. Event frames can't be deleted in mass or filtered. We update/modified our events by back filling. This will leave orphan events within TrendMiner. Notifications are events in PI AF. The shear number can overload the screen with comment flags. Need a way to switch off without each time going to the filter and entering "XYX" to filter them out each time. AF supports child attributes. TrendMiner does not.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly it is speed to analysis. We have other tools, that can do similar things. TrendMiner speeds that up. I see that engineers stay with what they know until they see another engineer "get ahead" with a better mouse trap. We are in that cycle now.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All day to day problems are described and solved with TrendMiner. I use it for the Define, measure and Control steps in DMAIC and have quantified a lot of problems with TrendMiner. It is difficult to allocate profits with it as the solution is mostly not in TrendMiner. But without TrendMiner, the problem wouldn't even be visible, let alone a solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a quick and easy tool for identifying problems and starting the problem solving cycle. Afterwards TrendMiner is also very useful for controlling the situation.
Excellent tool for the chemical industry
What do you like best about the product?
With TrendMiner it is so easy and intuitive to look at your data. The Software is really fast and delivers new ways of working to get the most our of your process data. Pattern search and alarm monitoring are so easy to set up that a wide range of people can use it. The support is excellent, feedback is welcome.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface could be even more intuitive and sometimes a special functionality is missing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Process monitoring is much easier. Finding root causes for various failures.
Easy and Fast
What do you like best about the product?
Trendminer enabled me to analyze my process data in a simple, easy and fast way. Via TrendHub you get a great view of your process data, and you are allready able to do searches within you history of processdata, you can do analysis of problems you have and you can do predictions of your process.
Furhtermore, the support is great as well as the possibility to do feature request.

Speed of data access and search ability, easily sharing work with colleagues, setting up automatic alarms/alerts is effortless

I would prefer more flexibility with how tag names and descriptions are displayed

If you work with a data Historian, especially if the data set is multiple years long, TrendMiner is a superior option for all data analytic needs

What do you like best about the product?
TrendMiner was very useful in capturing the trend and seasonality in the dataset I was working on. I initially used python statsmodel to separate the trend, level, and seasonal components but that was not as helpful as using TrendMiner. Also, the documentation is really good.
What do you dislike about the product?
TrendMiner is quite pricy. I wish it was a little affordable. Another thing is the performance, sometimes it takes a lot of processing time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm working with anomaly detection and reconciliation. I continuously do time series analysis on various datasets to detect anomalies and sometimes find the correlation between two series to check for the causality relations. TrendMiner provides a good interface and is easy to use.

What do you like best about the product?
High-quality support and docs, easily modifiable to requirements and good trend and seasonality uncertainty variations doing the job, which helped a lot during the project time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the variations took a lot of time and it was hard to figure out the exact problem. Sometimes the system even hanged and didn't respond at all which was not supposed to be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To measure the approximate traffic of log files and to predict future load, storing and processing TB's of data in real-time.

What do you like best about the product?
Once our platform engineers understood the need to learn how to use this tool, our equipment failures have been dramatically reduced
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is unfortunately quite expensive, and if you don't have a lot of equipment to monitor, it might not be worth it

We needed to assess the performance of different production lines, and this is where TrendMiner came in with good help.
