Excellent Product, Highly Recommend

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf makes it very easy to distribute packages and configuration profiles to Macs on your network, as well as running one-time scripts with several parameters. These features are not available on Jamf's competitors, and we use these heavily in our environment. Jamf does a great job with making package, script, and config profile uploads painless, as well as simple policy creation tools.

They also have useful items exposed in their API and via ruby-jss, which is also used rather often for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few Jamf API items that I wish were available, one of which is Package Size for any pkg, dmg, and zip files.
There is no convenient way to rearrange scripts/packages in policies other than renaming the object itself.
There are no way to short-circuit policies, where if one item in the policy fails, then the whole policy stops running and fails out.
There is no way to hide objects from being visible from the API - it would be nice to mark a script, policy, pkg, etc. with an "invisible" flag to prevent the API from seeing it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deploying packages, scripts, and config profiles to all of our managed Macs to keep them in similar configurations. We are currently managing a high-speed and largely growing Mac environment (8000+) and expect continuous growth in the coming years. We are making the Mac the best and preferred platform for new employees.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should definitely use it.

Jamf Pro is the most complete tool out there

  • September 29, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro includes solutions for pretty much every aspect of a Mac admin's job. Rather than needing to use a bunch fo different tools to manage devices, it has all of those tools in one place where they can work together.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a jack of all trades, there are some things Jamf could do better, like patch management or more granular control over user-facing workflows (via Self Service or otherwise).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to manage all of our devices and gather information about their current status and history. We can quickly grab at-a-glance information and make adjustments almost immediately to keep up with any ongoing changes or new discoveries.

A great management system for Apple devices

  • September 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how jamf pro always keeps up with the current operating system, letting the workforce always benefit from the new Apple features. The users can have the best Apple experience, without having IT touch the device before they start using it
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to get a user to authenticate on the device during enrollment if you don't have an LDAP integration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It keeps inventory, it makes sure a user cant lock the device to their Find My, I can install applications, integrate with Volume purchases, and automated deployment.

Solid MDM, with wide range of customization

  • September 29, 2020

What do you like best about the product?
I like that we can utilize as many or as few features as we need. We do not have to over-complicate our setup, yet we can access everything we need. The technical support is great, it is very reassuring to know that they will work as hard as you will to resolve an issue. They also have a great customer advocacy program that lets you feel a part of the community even more through support, discussion and sometimes just bonding.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how easily I have been able to find a bug that has us dead in the water that needs to be escalated up to senior developers... We aren't doing anything too complicated, yet I seem to manage it once every year and a half (which is more than desirable).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Jamf to do our 1-to-1 iPad deployment at school. It has allowed us to push apps to student devices and pull away the app store. I also do like that while issues are rare for us, they are rarely across the platform, usually, just us, usually huge (not simple things that should have been caught/foreseen), and are rare enough that I still feel really good about the product. We have been able to reduce our tech team from four people (two full-time, two part-time) to just two full-time people because even handling a rollover of devices, one grade at a time it only took two days with a lot of breaks. If needed I could do it all in a few hours if I thought the wifi in the old wing could handle it. Additionally, I have learned so much about managing devices just by playing around in our Jamf instance. Additionally, as Covid has impacted us all, we were able to go to "as needed" remote learning with the ability to push apps out to students as needed while they were home when we had to sequester a grade or class (we were able to stay mostly on prem the whole time).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pay the little bit extra and go to Cloud hosted - BEFORE you need it due to a global pandemic. It is a lot harder to do during. Besides, just imagine never having to update your MDM again, it just does it for you! I love not having to go to the server and downloading things... it was dark in there. Jamf Pro allowed us to reduce our tech team from 4 to 2 people (and just between us, I'm the only one who manages the Jamf and Jamf devices and sleep just fine).

Very Useful and powerful.

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro support is amazing, they are there when there is just a small question. Jamf Pro enable two technicians to manage thousands of mobile devices. We are able to protect our students easily with configuration profiles, as well as send them easily to websites or surveys. All from one are. Jamf also makes deployment easy, it empowers our end users with the ability to wipe their group of iPads and set them up all hands off for our department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes running reports that my supervisor asks for is quiet difficult and we must often think outside of the box on how to get the information and then strip away what isn't needed from the csv file.
Otherwise Jamf is a great tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are many problems we have used Jamf to solve. Managing a lot of mobile devices. Sending apps to those devices. Especially now during Covid when we cannot touch iPads, Jamf has proven to be an invaluable tool. We are able to send apps, update apps, profiles, change names, see students apps, profiles, battery levels.

What do you like best about the product?
Jamf leverages the power of MDM to make zero-touch enrollment and deployment super easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside in our case is that Jamf isn’t available for non-Apple devices!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been solving remote deployment and enrollment with Jamf Pro

Excellent one stop shop for MDM!

  • September 29, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Touchless deployment and the level of controllability through the Management Console. Ease of use of the application.
Support offered by Jamf is amazing as well. Jamf Nation is an excellent resource for obtaining information and help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Organization modules within the MDM console. It could be a bit better to navigate or find exact items you are looking for.
web based console can be better. Current timeout options are frustrating when logged in to work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Control over all iOS Devices across multiple locations.
Ability to save time and energy. Remotely administer commands and push software / scripts to devices
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely go with Jamf. It is a great platform and will address your all your needs

Good enough I've used it for 10 years, bad enough I'd look elsewhere if I had to

  • September 29, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is (overall) well-designed and easy to navigate
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the lack of real database support, since it requires I run a MySQL server on my own. Also, anyone who chooses to not have their server mismanaged by Jamf is now losing out on features because...reasons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to manage my Macs and allow my users to use their machines in the way that best provides the tools they need to educate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want to use a cloud offering, it may be worthwhile if you can take the downtime

  • September 29, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Zero touch enrollment is most helpful. I like the ability to let users enroll their own devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not want to move to Jamf cloud. I hope that we can maintain an on-prem setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing macOS and iOS applications, updates, and preferences.
